The Japanese lifestyle brand TAION was founded in 2016 as a specialist for down inner jackets and in the following years developed into a modern utility brand. The name TAION is derived from the Japanese word 体温, which means body temperature. TAION develops advanced designs with a focus on functionality and the highest quality, paired with a classic look. On top of that, TAION takes a sustainable approach.

Originally, inner jackets filled with down served to insulate and maintain body temperature. These jackets were worn under coats, for example. Today, these pieces are considered fashion items in their own right, both as a light jacket or as a vest over a T-shirt during summer season. Not entirely innocent in this trend is TAION, as the Japanese brand offers a wide range of colors and styles.

Down fillings have the enormous advantage of the best possible warmth-to-weight ratio – and that at a very low volume. TAION uses mainly down and feathers with high 800 fill power for its designs. This makes the products lighter in comparison to traditionally used down fillings. Compared to the usual 600FLP, TAION’s 800FLP down filling can hold more insulating warm air, and thus it keeps you warmer.

Just as important as the padding is choice of fabric. Depending on the category and application, TAION selects the most suitable fabric. High-quality water-repellent fabrics are used, combined with the best responsibly sourced hydrophobic down. The AC coating makes the surface stain-resistant and prevents the feathers or down from poking through a seam inside. This means that TAION products do not require the usual DRW coating.

After filling, the down of TAION jackets is divided into chambers by quilting seams. This closes the chambers so tightly that no cold air from outside can penetrate, and the structure makes it difficult for air heated due to body temperature to escape. In addition, this technique helps to keep the down fluffy along the stitch.
