The new Ortofon Reference Interconnect cables Series is designed and manufactured by Ortofon Japan
Each of the new Reference series cables has its individual sonic expression:

- The Reference Red is an all-purpose, decent, but not too expensive cable that would be a great addition to any audio equipment. The sound is relaxed, warm and dynamic with high resolution.
- The Reference Blue is a dynamic and high-resolution cable that reveals detailed reproduction throughout the spectrum.
- The Reference Bronze has an astonishing wide-range, clear and neutral sound.
- The Reference Black is a new generation reference audio cable par excellence with a well-balanced, neutral and precise sound.

Ortofon Reference Red cable
The Reference Red Interconnect cable is a perfect combination of 4N OFC (Oxygen-free copper) and 4N HiFC (High performance pure copper) conductors. These two copper conductor materials are combined to create a warm, dynamic sound with high resolution.
The Reference Red is surrounded by shield of both 16 sets of 0.1mm x 10 copper wires and aluminum to reduce electromagnetic induced noise.
The gold plated RCA terminals provide easy, stable and durable connection.

• Cable capacity: 190pF/m
• Cable length: 1.0 m or 1.5 m
• Terminal type: RCA
• 2 pieces per set

Reference Red technical configuration
① Signal conductors:
• OFC (Oxygen-free copper) Ø 0.5 mm + Ø 0.32 mm × 7
• HiFC (High performance pure copper) Ø 0.12 mm × 28
② Signal conductors:

Luxury leadwireset
LW-6N is the 6N lead wire made of Ultra High Purity Copper wire.
The configuration is very sofisticated with different diameter of wire strand, the inside strand is right windings, the outside strand is left winding. The end of wire is fastened by gold plated terminal.
The tight winding against each other makes the clear transmission of music signals. Clear and crisp tonality.

Technical data:
• High purity Cu wire 6NCu: 7 x φ 0.18mm (Right strands)
• High purity Cu wire 6NCu: 17 x φ 0.10mm (Left strands)

Mounting instructions:
All Ortofon cartridges have a colour coding of the terminals, indicating red and green for right channel respectively hot and ground terminal. White and blue for left channel respectively hot and ground terminal. Green terminal will always be used for grounding the cartridge housings or motor-system, whenever connected inside the cartridge.

We recommend to connect lead wires to the cartridge and headshell before mounting the cartridge on the headshell. Please remember correct orientation of the leads. Ortofon SH-4 headshell and Ortofon cartridges' terminal PINs diameter is 1.2 mm, whilst Ortofon headshells' PINs diameter is normally only 1.0 mm.

Using LW 6N with the SH-4 headshell requies the LW 6N shell side clamp to be widened a little bit to fit on the SH-4 PINs. If shifted around, it may cause over-tightening of the assembly. Being aware about this detail, you will avoid the risk of having the cartridge's terminal PINs fall out.

Luxury leadwireset
LW-7N is the hybrid lead wire made of Ultra High Purity Copper wire of 7N and 6 N. The end of wire is fastened by Rhodium plated terminal.
As there is no foreign particle other than Copper 7N (99.99999 % purity) in the wire, music signal can be transmitted without any noise.

Technical data:
• High purity Cu wire 7NCu: 3 x φ 0.26mm
• High purity Cu wire 6NCu: 16 x φ0.10mm

Compatibility with Rega brand TT/TA:
REGA brand cartridges’ height from stylus tip to the top cartridge mounting surface is lower than standard. Therefore you would need spacers to ensure the correct set-up of the Ortofon cartridge.
Adjusting the height of your Rega tonearm is easy with Acoustic Signature's Spacer Set. It allows you to adjust the height from 0.5 mm to 3.5 mm in precise steps of 0.5 mm - without removing the tone arm. Simply loosen the screws, insert the AS-spacer, then lock the screws back down, and you're tonearm is ready to play.
3.2 - 4 mm spacers should be enough for Quintet cartridge.

Ease of use
Top-mounting of the Quintet cartridges is easy and secure using the screws supplied. The aluminuim frame has threaded mounting holes and is fitted easily with the 5mm or 7mm screws depending on the thickness of the headshell.

The Quintet series’ right angles, straight lines, stylus visibility and ample distance between the record surface and the cartridge’s bottom will make it easy to mount and align the cartridge and tonearm correctly. The Quintet Series gives excellent results with most common tonearms.

3.2 - 4 mm spacers should be enough for 2M cartridge.

Optimal fit and sound reproduction
If your tonearm has a standard headshell or a cartridge mount, then step up to optimal sound reproduction with OM’s. A glance at anyone of these cartridges will reveal Ortofon's answer to perfect tonearm matching. Ingeniously tucked into the top of the mounting bracket is a tiny, removable weight-plate.

If your tonearm is an standard tonearm, just leave the weight-plate. If your tonearm is one of the low mass types, then simply remove the weight. The mass of your OM cartridge is now a mere 2.5g.

OM 5E features Elliptical stylus that provides balanced and distortion-free playback. Elliptical diamonds are able to follow the groove oscillations more accurately than spherical diamonds due to their contoured shape. This results in better tracking and less distortion.

Depending on your preference, styli for the OM 5 Series are easily interchanged and include: styli 3E, 5E, 10, 20, 30, 40 & 78 and D 25 M.
