The Bratislava-based band 52 Hertz Whale release their new album Present Sense Impression in a collaboration of the labels Weltschmerzen and Full Moon Forum.

Three years since their album I've Met a Lot of People, the band brings forth a lot of new ideas, finding a new resonant space, and utilising the fierceness // savageness of their live shows, in an intimate stare at contemporary guitar music.

52 Hertz Whale is a band well known in the Central European music context. Their ferocious sound, mixing the intensity of post-punk, heavy guitar wails, and melancholic // stark vocals of Dominik Prok has been tearing down the fixtures of many festivals and venues, all the while being a great example of a band driving at 200mph nonstop. On Present Sense Impression, the band, composed of Dominik Prok, Dominik Fabian, Patrik Nagy, Tomáš Tabiš and Adrián Krišák, have arrived at a record full of manifold manifestations of their live sound, but at times recalling the more marginal waves of 80s pop // rock sound. Resolute drums, heavyweight guitar and bass riffs now deem closer to the lightness of early ethereal darkwave, just to indulge in the classic melancholic heaviness they are known for only seconds after.

Some of the songs have been produced by "Prague's favorite rock'n'roll enfant terrible" Lazer Viking as well as Pulp Studio's Jakub Hríbik, and one features a special guest - the cemballo virtuoso Marcel Comendant. The traditionally stunning artwork was created by the accomplished Martin Mesaroš.

Present Sense Impression is the 20th album released under the Slovak romantic // experimental label Weltschmerzen focused on emotionally hypercharged, humanely intertwined, and acutely sounding contemporary music. This time in collaboration with the czech label Full Moon Forum. It releases August 26th on limited edition baby pink, standard edition black vinyl and on all streaming platforms.

The creation and release of this record have been supported using public funding by the Slovak Arts Council, and Soza. Fullmoon Forum project was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.

What's that all about?Johnny - I have no idea where the name Quonk! come from! it seemed rather weird for a possible album title.Slimy - Incidental noise that's picked up _. We are a bit like that _ Johnny Moped's Quonk! is very Quonk le Donk (saucepan lid landing on head) and it's available soon from all Damaged record outlets.Marty - This one's for Toad really. It was his call and it's a great title for a Moped album.Robot - The band suffers from Quonking pretty regularly, so we thought we'd make a whole album of it.It's been five years since your last album Lurrigate Your Mind. How come it's taken so long to write and record this one?Johnny - it must have taken up to five months to rehearse for that album. Around the same time as previous albums.Slimy - Toads are slow moving creatures.Marty - Because we're old and very very lazy.Robot - That's pretty quick for us, it was over 30 years between 'Rock 'n' Roll Rookie' and Cycledelic. We wanted to make sure it passed quality control before letting it loose on the world. It sounds like you had a fun time recording it. Is that the case or was it more painful this time round?Johnny - We did have a lot of fun recording those albums starting from Real Cool Baby and Lurrigate Your Mind. Classic albums! Ivan The Tolerable is the alter ego solo project of Middlesbrough based musical wizard Oli Heffernan. Aside from his solo work as ITT, Oli has played in numerous bands over the years including Year Of Birds, King Champion Sounds with members of the Ex, Detective Instinct, and Shrug, and has collaborated with icons like Mike Watts of the Minutemen, and J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr.

Ivan The Tolerable started by accident in 2013 when Heffernan recorded a bunch of songs for his band at the time (Year Of Birds). These were a bit too left-field for a speedy garage band, so Oli decided to put them out on tape himself, and hasn’t looked back since with releases on Up In Her Room, Stolen Body Records and Library of the Occult to name just a few.

We are delighted to bring you our next entry from the Ivan The Tolerable archive reissue series, 2019’s ‘Wild Nature!’ Originally released on CD by Ack Ack Ack Records back in 2019, the album has now been remastered and repackaged, and will be released on super ltd edition orange wax. Here’s a bit about the album in Oli’s own words.

‘Wild Nature was originally recorded sporadically during the first half of 2019. It started life in one house, then I moved and it was finished in another. I remember screenprinting the original CD artwork on the sly at my old job during my lunch breaks and hand-assembled a small run of about 50 that are all long gone. I also remember walking around Albert Park early one morning in thick fog with a field recorder to capture the sounds that were then processed to form 23 Minutes Over Albert Park (condensed to 4 mins for the reissue due to time constraints). I think this was also the last album I recorded vocals on and also the last one I recorded completely by myself - all instruments, recording, mixing, mastering and artwork done by me at home. I know the first and last tracks were recorded as a birthday present for someone but I cant remember much about the other songs i'm afraid - 4 years is a long time in my speedy world. I've been asked a bunch over the years about a vinyl edition of this one - so here it is. Enjoy - especially everything that went through the delay pedal, which is sadly no longer with us.’

Debut-EP of DERRY, six songs on transparent-orange coloured, one-sided 12" vinyl!

Green Day is one of the most successful bands in the world and named best punk rock band of all time by Rolling Stone. Emerging in the early 90’s, influenced by the late 70’s British punk, the American trio took a more mainstream turn by incorporating catchy hooks and harmonies into their loud, energetic sound. They popularized punk rock in the US to the point of selling out stadiums, especially after the release of “Dookie” in 1994 which sold 15 million copies woldwide. The singles “Basket Case” and “When I Come Around” spent weeks on top of the the American modern rock charts. All the classics are present on this excellent live recording.

New 5-song rager from Satanic Togas, one of the many projects fronted by the prolific Ishka Edmeades (gee TEE, TEE VEE Repairmann, Research Reactor CORP.). Satanic Togas are on the grittier end of Ishka's recent output.

The uncompromising firecracker from 1982, the second OHL album back on vinyl! One of the German punk classics ever!The second LP by German punk veterans OHL has become much fatter than their immature debut. The production is much crisper, the vocals with their cynical bad news to political society fit. The songs are more catchy. Although OHL are not really a thrash band, they produced some very fast slabs of guitar-heavy power that will really strain the speakers at high volume (e.g. "Schrei, Schrei" "Warschauer Pakt" or "Belsen"). With "Nie wieder" they certainly have one of the most biting anti-Nazi songs I've ever come across. Recommended again and still!

Cran from Paris, France who you may have heard on the Paris on Oi! 12" compilation are releasing their debut LP 'Natë' on the amazing Uvpr label who had previously released their 7" EP. The Cran album: punk, melodies, big choirs, dark, deep lyrics. Lots of good songs, nice evolution.

High Vis were formed in 2016 from the ashes of some of the UK's besthardcore bands. Gild-toothed frontman Graham Sayle's anguished lyrics aboutlife in working class Britain were familiar to fans of Tremors' full-throttle thrash,but alongside his former bandmate Edward `Ski' Harper and veterans of DirtyMoney, DiE and The Smear, High Vis sought to transform that energy andintensity into something entirely new.Like scene-mates Chubby and the Gang did by pulling in unlikely sourcematerial from classic doo-wop or Micromoon have by combining everythingfrom psychedelia and metal into their high potency mix, High Vis' 2019 debutalbum, No Sense No Feeling showed the band were never going to beconstrained by any sense of genre rules or regulations. Its claustrophobicrattle bore traces of Joy Division, Bauhaus, Crisis, The Cure and Gang Of Fourlurking in the shadows. 2020's synth-driven EP, Society Exists, was furtherevidence of the band's restless creative MO.High Vis' second album Blending sees them open their viewfinder wider thanever before. Alongside longstanding favourites such as Fugazi and Echo andThe Bunnymen; Ride and even Flock Of Seagulls were shared reference pointsas the band worked on the album together.From the anthemic sweep of opener "Talk For Hours", through the title track'spsychedelic swirl and "Fever Dream"'s baggy groove, it sees High Vis' soundblossoming into something with an unlimited richness. The hazy drift of"Shame" or the melodic jangle of "Trauma Bonds" may take them untiluncharted waters, but they still have all the power and bite that made NoSense No Feeling so remarkable.Lyrically, the album represents another leap forward too. New album by Norwegian punkpop outfit Blomst. Blomst ("Flower" in English) has since 2010 worked their way up to a good following, much thanks to their top live performances and kick ass punk energy. The people of rock city Trondheim has really opened their eyes for Blomst, where the band has played for sold out venues with queues winding down the street! Don’t let the adorable band name fool you, Blomst are wolves in sheep’s clothing. They do give you associations to plants, but are actually one of the most up and coming punk bands Norway has to offer these days!
