In 7 tracks Los Angeles’ Rhys Langston turns his rapping into a conceptual artist’s toolkit. And in the 20 min runtime, Brooklyn’s steel tipped dove employs his decades of experiences in the dungeons of leftward rap to take texture and timbre to task. Tearing through the boundaries of experimental rap, Langston rhymes abstraction and absurdity, with poetic English peppered in Romance language phrases, – even as he croons like an alternate-reality grunge singer, and mutters spoken word in Spanish. Absolutely stunning very rare old school party disco rap 12" performed by members of the Chicago public highschool Carver High. Originally released in 1982 on their own private-press Challenger Records. The track is the opening highlight of Soul Jazz Records" recent Yo! Boombox collection and is featured here in its full glorious seven and a half minutes and comes complete with exact-replica of the striking original hand-drawn artwork.

This one blew my goddam socks off when I heard it. I hit up Rich who I'd been trying to connect with for years and he sent me this project by a group called Sore Loserz who never released a thing back in the day. Sore Loserz were So Devine - DJ/Producer and Skee The Y-Know [pronounced “wino”] the MC. The project was produced by the Erbs [later renamed DBC Elements Inc.] which comprised of Rich Blak, Chocolate Tye and So Devine.

Enter your spaceship for a transatlantic meeting of minds as the legendary Kool Keith links up with We Are The Horsemen (Outernational Sounds head honcho Harvinder Singh Nagi and producer Sub One) and the great Kaidi Tatham for a future-jazz flavoured trip through the great MC’s London adventures.

Kool Keith needs no introduction to hip-hop heads worldwide. As one of the greatest MCs ever to touch the mic, Keith has never stopped innovating and progressing. From his days in the seminal 1980s Bronx unit Ultramagnetic MCs, through his pioneering development of new conceptual characters and styles in the 1990s (Big Willie Smith, Dr. Octagon, Dr. Dooom, Black Elvis), to his continuous run of radically independent recordings in the 2000s and beyond, Kool Keith defines rap longevity and artistic originality. No one else in hip hop has a comparable record of continuous reinvention, conceptual boldness, and stylistic panache.

And after four decades in rap, Keith is still one of the hardest working rappers in the game, perpetually seeking new sounds to spit on and new collaborators from across the musical spectrum. Fresh off the acclaim for his new Black Elvis 2 release, the protean MC has touched down on Outernational Sounds for a unique collab with We Are The Horsemen and Kaidi Tatham. ‘London Is The Place’ finds Keith riding the Horsemen’s atmospheric, break-toughened riddim and reaching back in time to drop kaleidoscopic, stream-of-consciousness impressions of the Ultramagnetic MCs infamous 1989 tour, before flashing forward to the present in order to namecheck Honest Jons Records, saxophone star Nubiya Garcia and master keyboardist and broken beat pioneer Kaidi Tatham, who contributes trademark jazz keys and bruk steez to the AA side remix. The 12” is closed out by a third version, the Horsemen’s own Kool Jazz Mix, bringing see- sawing organ stabs and a neck-snapping Ultra-sampling hook.

Tha God Fahim and Camoflauge Monk have done quite some work together in the previous here, their projects such as “Iron Monkey” and “Blvk Pearl” 1 and 2 have reached cult status within the new underground rap renaissance. After a few years, they’re back on the grind together on this new EP “Dark Shogunn Assassin”. Featuring guest appearance by Estee Nack and killer artwork direction by Squatdeadface and Lord NMF, the 3 bangers are available on a limited edition of 350 copies.

Ultramagnetic MCs are back. Known for their abstract and futuristic style, Kool Keith and Ced Gee pioneered the New York Hip Hop sound in the 80's alongside contemporaries such as KRS One and LL Cool J, before disbanding in the mid 1990s. Bolstering a long, genre spanning solo career Kool Keith cemented his legacy in the Hip Hop, Punk and Electronic music circles with thematic albums under aliases such as Dr. Octagon, Dr. Dooom and Black Elvis, while Ced Gee stayed mostly behind the scenes providing production work for iconic artists including The Prodigy and Lee ''Scratch'' Perry. Backing the legendary duo is Nashville based oddball band Thetan, who provided the entire instrumentation for the recent Kool Keith collaborative album 'Space Goretex'. Offering up 2 brand new tracks of spaced out funky hip hop, the B-side of this 12'' is emblazoned with an etching of the Ultramagnetic MCs logo, engraved by none other than Dan Emery at Black Matter Mastering.

Ready Ta Roll was a 90’s hip hop group from Jersey City, NJ. Mark “M.C. Supreme” Curry (Rapper/Producer) , Eric “Tysheen” Freeman (dj), Christopher “Rizzo” Warren (Hype-Man) & Joseph “Music Maestro J-Rule” Jenkins (Producer) released several singles including underground classics “The Real Hip Hop” & “Drug Game” between 1993 & 1994. The group’s single “Drug Game” was recognized by The Source magazine with a powerful write up praising them for the songs socially conscious lyrics. The music video was shot by then up and coming video director Hype Williams and debuted on Ralph McDaniel’ Video Music Box as well as Bet’s Rap City. The group parted ways in the late 90’s and Supreme who later changed his name to Chop Diesel went on to form a production collective called “The Dream Team”. Their production credits include Ali Vegas, AZ, Nas, 50 Cent, LL Cool J, Diddy, Run-DMC, DJ Kay Slay, Teddy Riley, Dave Hollister & more.

New Jersey-based emcee/producer Brainorchestra returns with his latest effort, It Means A Lot. The eight track EP takes a look into his new perspective on life following the success of his previous release, Big Brain, which has made a major impact on his career. Pieced together by unapologetic honesty, new experiences and growth, Brainorchestra is joined by a supporting cast that includes both Butch Dawson and Kenn Starr, we are witnessing the start of practice paying off. The record is produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by the fast-rising artist, and comes equipped with the b-side instrumentals. It Means A Lot is set to be released through his recent partnership with Fat Beats.

Great minds think alike. Eprom & Barclay Crenshaw’s remixes of Yung Skrrt’s “McDonalds” are cosmically connected. Both artists separately discovered the track via Bandcamp, and both began transmitting the frequencies through their DJ sets on different stages around the world. Once the parallel universe became perpendicular and crossed paths, they each decided to make their own interpretations and now the world is one.

New York heavyweights Emskee and Saint are The Good People and teamed up with French producer Shar The Analog Bastard for this superb EP released as digital only back in September 2020. Around the same time AE Productions dropped Emskee’s Wall To Wall 12” and while talking back and forth we arranged to release The Fall Back EP on AE. Unfortunately pressing vinyl became very difficult due to worldwide lockdowns so is only now ready for release even though it was sent to manufacture back in June 2021.
