Hot on the heels of his ‘ weet & picy EP’ on The W Label, DJ W!LD now unleashes Rainbow in my pocket EP. The four tracks see W!LD at his most underground and dirty; it’s 3am music for when the freaks come out. Lead cut ‘Rainbow In My Pocket’ has a title which belies the deep, dark and thumping nature of the track, perfectly at home on the darkest, sweatiest dancefloors. ‘Beats 2’ is a DJ’s dream tool - scattered percussion and a “jack me till I start to scream” vocal loop relentlessly. On the B side, ‘Tokyo 9am’ has an impossibly deep bassline, energetic jacking beats and a vocal sample you may just recognise, while ‘Murder City’ is classic W!LD, featuring another intoxicating jacking beat and excursions into floaty breakouts. Another must have EP from a man at the very top of his game. With a flying start to 2013 and more to come for B*Pitch Control, Rebellion (Crosstown Rebels), Rekids and Robsoul, the launch of his own DJ Bag, worldwide tours with Cocoon and Circoloco and a return to DC10, it’s already turning into another suitably wild year for the Parisian.
