Hanni El Khatib’s music is as diverse as his ethnicity. Equal parts Filipino & Palestinian, Hanni El Khatib hails from San Francisco, is creative director for skateboard powerhouse HUF & is heavily influenced by the 1950’s. The multi-instrumentalist serves as singer, songwriter & producer for his one-man band (live he is joined by a drummer). With his sinewy guitar and wry, whiskey-glazed voice, Hanni creates malt shop music for those who drink them spiked with bourbon. Hanni’s folky blues reflect his love of the soulful music of Sam Cooke, Johnny Cash & Robert Johnson, but lyrically it’s more like Charles Bukowski with a conscious. Hanni’s debut full-length will be released early 2011 & sounds like a cross between The White Stripes, Black Keys, Johnny Cash & 1950’s Doo Whop.
