It's nearly two years since Macker’s first and last dispatch, a pair of shockingly minimal, 808-driven dreadnoughts released on a no-fuss, barely-any-info black label. He returns now with two further, grievously honed grim reapers, once again self-released, and once again taking early dubstep - and in particular that rhythm/mood that Youngsta used to be synonymous with - as his point of departure. Macker’s tense, tunnelistic epics essentially dust down and elaborate on that prematurely abandoned but to this day untouchable blueprint, ramping up the vibe of red-eyed ultra-alienation and stretching it all out on to a broader canvas, coloured with the avant/industrial unease of Vainio, Muslimgauze, Scorn, and so on.
