Napkey Solstice

Justine Rousseau and Benjamin Cholet met in Shanghai in 2012 and formed in 2015 the duo project Napkey, mixing pop and electronic music. Cultured with the synths of Jean-Michel Jarre, light melodies from Dire Straits or the intensity of The Last Shadow Puppets, Napkey dives right into the core of the current questionings about trans-humanism, robotic and artificial intelligence.

Their first album « 42 » released in January 2017 reached around 20 millions streams, and head Spotify playlists for many months at a time. The french duo made also a stellar stint at Kitsuné the same year, with their single « At Least ».

At the end of 2018, Napkey reveals their second album « SOLSTICE », and presenting a captivating voicy world, intertwined into a retro futurist electro pop.

Supported by an omnipresent narrative story, the album follows the quest of a young robot named SOL, who choose the exil to bring answers about existential questions. Guided by Napkey, he has to find the « humanity’s keys » to complete the understanding of being human.

« Tu te réveilles » single was released on 13 June 2018, a real melodic outlet where dreams, reality and voices are mixed. On powerful and detonating choruses, Napkey allows the awakening of conscience. More than music, Club Sandwich Club (duo of directors/illustrators in cinema and advertising) made an animation clip, paying tribute to Asimov’s science fiction. The clip discloses how Napkey leads SOL in his quest, by the « humanity’s keys » way.

Napkey is dressed on stage by the Ateliers-Hère, who create the futuristic outfit of the duo. A collaboration with a limited collection was released on 5 June 2018, about SOLSTICE album story. Music, short films, clips, video game and clothes collaboration: Napkey have all the assets to conquer space with their peaceful, robotic, and clearly humanist arsenal.
