Item Description
This album starts with 2013 field recordings by Attilio Novellino and Saverio Rosi, made at the wool mill 'Lanificio Leo', the oldest textile factory active in Calabria, built in 1873. The sounds produced by machines from the late 19th century, with their distinctive timbres and unusual rhythmics, were sampled, electronically processed, and recomposed in order to form the lintel for two long suites of electroacoustic music. Around this industrial/post-digital backbone, Novellino and Rosi trace intricate sound inlays made using granular synthesis softwares, analogue instruments, modular synthesizers, organs, guitar and electric bass by cutting, digitally processing and harmoniously interweaving the instrumental contributions of two key fgures in the contemporary free-improv and experimental scene, Rob Mazurek (cornet-electronics) and Tim Barnes (percussion-objects). Limited to 250 copies.
