Shame Tasteless / Visa Vulture

2016 may have been the year that South London five piece Shame made a huge splash with their critically acclaimed singles, breathlessly unhinged punk rock and wildly unbound live shows, but 2017 is the year that they finally take their place in the vaulted British rock and roll firmament.
Exhibit one? The new single “Tasteless”, a rip roaring, livewire anthem which throws up a defiant two fingers to social inertia and apathy in these troubled times. Jagged guitars ring out as lead singer Charlie Steen urges an insurrection on. In his own words, the single “Tasteless” is about:
“Protesting against people's constant acceptance and indifference towards deeply troubling issues within society as well as politics, only seeming to care when it is something that will effect them. A comment disregarding some peoples over-sensitivity when a person or group of people speak out about something.”
Shame head to SXSW next week before supporting Warpaint on select dates at the end of this month, with a full UK headline tour throughout April and May. It is a testament to their thrilling live reputation that they already have 50+ dates confirmed this year.
In a time of such roiling unrest and unease, Shame are exactly the band we need right now.
