Sofa T Opus Sofa

Sofa T discovered the wonders of hardware samplers back in 2013, after
years of frustration with the tediousness of computer music software. He was
introduced to the MPC2000XL and instantly got hooked. He produces
everything on these samplers before he records it to tape and moves on. He
believes music should be dynamic; a living asymmetric organism rather than a
perfect image. Hiss pops and crackles are as much a part of the harmony as
the soulful samples and phat basslines.
On September 6th he released is debut full length Opus Sofa, a 40 minute ride
through time, space and technology is a look into the strange mindstate of
someone who chose music as a way of life. It’s fast paced, bouncy and
packed with beats and obscure soundbites. It moves between classic, soulful
hip-hop over spaced out interludes to Sofa’s very own brands of funk. The
sound borrows from everything from jazz, soul, latin and 80’s electronics to
rare occult and children’s records.
