Trevor Jackson RGBPM

Six months in the making, and only ever shown once, RGBPM is a remarkable geometric whorl of colour sound and rhythmelodic forms synchronised thru the custom-built Weirdcore software. As you can see in the downloadable video attachment, the music and visuals are choreographed in symbiosis, with abstract shapes and colours correlating to the music’s structure and tonal feels.

The results arguably form a big highlight of Jackson’s remarkable, lengthy oeuvre, which has to date taken in a wealth of sleeve designs for classic hip hop and acid house records, right thru to his estimable A+Ring of the Output label and his work as a producer and remixer of note. The fact that RGBPM still sounds futureproof-fresh today is testament to the timeless nature of his approach to his art - even now, and always effective on an immediate level; with a special ability to evoke context from a paucity of inputs.

The tracks lend themselves perfectly to DJs and dancers as much as home consumption, taking us from sleek, purring cosmic techno strokes in the first instance, to pulsing minimal techno in the 2nd part, before flashing his most NYC-inspired chops with a hefty, rolling display of toned disco arpeggios, and then slipping into more expressive, abstract dark wave in the final part.

Thanks to a combination of his economical production and optimised mastering, each piece really comes alive on the wax, offering a series of respectively immersive environments that totally hold up on their own without the visual aspect, whilst still prompting richly visual analogs from their super wide and lushly rendered dimensions.
