V.A. Something Cold

Something Cold is proud to present its inaugural label release with the Something Cold LP. Something Cold was formed by JUSTIN CARVER in 2009, as an ongoing live showcase for minimal-synth, coldwave, and industrial sounds in Detroit. With an ever rotating selection of guest DJs and venues, Something Cold continues to bring strange sounds to Detroit. Something Cold now brings these mysterious frozen sounds to your turntable via this brand new vinyl imprint. Something Cold presents decayed sound that perhaps more accurately depicts the soundtrack of the city's rustbelt. This compilation release showcases acts who have performed at Something Cold over the years, as well as friends and allies who are no strangers to the Something Cold dance floor. Tracks by local artists AUTUMUS, DEASTRO, ESPECIALLY GOOD, YOU., and ZE DARK PARK reveal the sound of decadent nightlife easily found inside the empty corridors of Detroit. Meanwhile, North America's minimal DIY synth explosion is represented by bands from east coast to west, both well-known and completely unheard of: THE PRESENT MOMENT, FURTHER REDUCTIONS, OS OVNI, and SUBTITLES. Each selection on this LP documents the sound of the coldest and most confusing social club of Detroit; this is Something Cold. Limited to 300 vinyl-only copies.
