Item Description
Wanda Jackson, when with Hank Thompson, was persuaded by Elvis Presley to hop on the Rock 'n' Roll waggon from Country and Western. 1956 brought a contract with Los Angeles based Capitol Records, and the wild stuff of label mate Gene Vincent was obviously very influential on Wanda's work for Capitol. Both, Wanda and Gene, had the same producer: Ken Nelson.

Wanda's recordings are still landmarks in the history of Rock 'n' Roll. Her stage dresses were hot: very tight, high heels and long earrings, way too hot for the late 50s. Fujiyama Mama charted number 1 in Japan. Maybe that was the reason for releasing the original 10" album. Let's Have A Party, her greatest Rock 'n 'Roll hit, is also included. Although it charted in 1960, it was recorded in 1958, so we can only guess the year of the original pressing as 1959/1960. The original sleeve was covered outside and inside with clear plastic, strong foil welded all around.

It was hard work to reproduce the artwork without removing this plastic. So the original is still waterproof, like this compilation with its two bonus tracks.
