Poobah Merchandise

Poo-Bah is a L.A.-based record label, founded by Ras G, Black Monk and Ron Stivers. The record label emerged from the record store Poo-Bah in Pasadena, California, specializing in hip hop and experimental music. Since its founding in 1971 it had a lot of regulars like Ras G, Black Monk and Ron Stivers who were inspired to found their own label in 2004. Ras G and Black Monk cover a large variety of styles from the dub music of Lee »Scratch« Perry to the hip hop of Madlib to the futuristic science fiction elements of Sun Ra ab. In that way they kept looking – besides their own releases and projects – for more musicians with a similiar desire and a similar musical vision. Artists including KanKick, Kutmah or Samiyam fit perfectly into this concept. Especially Samiyam shows how close the label can be seen to Flying Lotus, who has mentioned the represented artists positively more than once.
