The brand was established in 1989 by Dave Lane and Jeremy Guard under the name Rock Solid to realize their ideas of highly functional climbing equipment. Soon after, Lane sold his holdings of the company to silent partners. In 1991, Jeremy Guard changed the company’s name to Arc’teryx to reflect the brand’s vision to take the outdoor industry to the next level.
