It is a modern take on the format, full of disorientating spatial modulation, brooding texture, and the emotional depth we ve come to expect from the artist. The B-side further illuminates this path. Watercourse introduces a playful twitch to the palette, full of life-affirming echoes and melodies. Rounding things off is the deepest track of the lot: Blackbird features effective call-and-response vocals, continuously intertwining with its gently tripping bassline. Spinning around an ever extending groove, the tried and tested dancefloor drama slowly loses it thread and comes undone ? before a skipping rhythm puts all the pieces back in place. Access the deepest cut on the flip: Laid out across a full side, -Serendipity- is an understated collection of accidents. With its undulating melodies stimulating the glowing mind, it crosses barriers between house music, techno, and the chillout floors of yore.

The past decade has seen Red Pig Flowers unfaltering drive and ambition as a producer and DJ take her across the globe to play at hotspots all over, from Berlins Panorama Bar and Hoppetosse to Tokyos Womb, Concrete Bar Seoul, Pikes Ibiza and beyond. On top of this Red Pig Flower has a growing back catalogue of releases and co-runs the Tokyo based Sound Of Vast imprint alongside Knock. Here though, we see Red offering up her new EP via Swiss imprint Adams Bite, home to music from the likes of Nu Zau, Barac, Cristi Cons, Traumer and Ion Ludwig, a perfect home for her psychedelia infused stripped back house sound. Up first is the original version of title-track We Need Space, a merging of winding bass grooves, skippy percussion, modulating, bubbling synths ebbing and flowing amongst one another while a hypnotic, spoken word vocal winds within the groove throughout. An instrumental version follows next, as the name would suggest, pulling back the vocal elements for a more robust, drum driven feel. Separation then opens the flip-side with a more frenzied feel via and amalgamation of vacillating synth flutters, dubbed out percussion and bumpy low-slung drums which all dynamically evolve and retract throughout. The Feeling then completes the EP, diving back into deeper realms with murky atmospherics, vocal chants and gritty stabs at its core, underpinned by a bouncy stab led bass groove and crisp, crunchy drums.

Strong Limited! For his debut LP, Martinesque dove deep. It is a project borne out of a personal history with electronic music spanning over two decades long, melting his influences and ambitions into a single piece. Bound together by the dance floor experience at large, this collection is unwilling to subject itself to a path of linear narration, embracing an approach more ecclectic instead. Throughout the albums runtime, we are invited to rediscover trace memories of starry-eyed nights of yore. We find nods to big beat and electropop, acid, breaks and trance. All over, big basslines recall the sweaty basement jams Martinesque grew to love. Everything tied up and strapped down tight by the slamming house derivates the man has built his name on. This is a set of transcendent tools dreamt up the morning after. This is packaged and presented to invite receptors to rearrange, reshape, recompile. This is the sum of its parts, and parts might differ.
