Since forming in 2021, Heavyhex has quickly gained a reputation for their ability to translate raw emotion into their music, blending melodic and post-hardcore. Following Heavyhex’s 2022 EP, Stare, True To You dives deep into the realm of personal struggles, societal issues, and the demand for equality. Single “You Can’t Stay Here,” out now, bursts with an impactful vocal delivery and winding riffs before heading into an infectious hook. The song itself addresses how the unhoused are treated with little regard. Vocalist David Gastiaburo expands on the lyrics: “You Cant Stay Here” was written after NYC’s failed attempts to sweep homeless encampment sites. It was an ill attempt to force the homeless into shelters but it failed. Out of the 2,300 homeless people present during those sweeps, only 119 agreed to go to a shelter and most of them did not stay. Many were forced out with little time to take any of their belongings with them. These are people too, just like us, trying to get by.” On True To You, Heavyhex collaborated with producer Jay Maas (defeater), channeling their collective energy and creativity to shape guitar tones that strike a balance of aggression, clarity, and emotion, accompanied by fast and hard-hitting percussion. This collection of songs fearlessly explores the human experience with honesty and vulnerability. They serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of self-love and staying true to oneself. Iron Chic is a melodic punk band from Huntington Station, NY. Formed back in 2008, the band released a five-song demo tape followed by the Shitty Rambo 7” the next year, and finally their debut full-length, Not Like This, in 2010—all on Long Island-based Dead Broke Rekerds. The band garnered quite a bit of attention, not only for their music, but also because they were hailed as a “supergroup” (Punknews.org), featuring members of Latterman, Small Arms Dealer, and more. Immersed in the DIY scene, this 2015 release found Iron Chic recording the album themselves, and coming out poised for a bigger release than they ever have before.

DEFEATER’s third full-length, Letters Home, is one of the band’s best records. Ill Blood, the first studio album by Canadian hardcore band NO Warning, is now back on vinyl and Bridge Nine has given it the silver edition treatment as part of their silver edition series. This album was originally released in November 2002 and quickly became a beloved hardcore record. AllMusic wrote, “NO Warning’s sound is far from melodic—singer Ben Cook is a vitriolic, atonal screamer in the grand tradition—but it’s more complex and nuanced than that of many of the group’s contemporaries.” 10th album in Bridge Nine Records’ special silver anniversary series which was started as a way to celebrate the label’s 25th anniversary.
