Sound Metaphors and Transmigration explore the early underground Goa party scene with a 2x12” compilation.

A collection of Techno, Italian-House, New Beat and Post Punk all heard on the same dancefloors amongst Goa's tropical beaches during the late 80's and early 90's. What is now understood as Goa Trance was once preceded by an amalgamation of many different genres smuggled to Goa in tape format by true music devotees that filtered through all that was being produced in the West shaping a unique dancefloor sound that could only pertain to the “Special Goa Music” genre. Sound Metaphors teams up with Transmigration and journalist, DJ and first hand witness of the scene at hand - Ray Castle – to present a meticulous body of research into the sound signature of that unique scene. 11 highly sought after tracks presented in a double LP gatefold format with an A1 poster insert and insightful liner notes by Ray Castle. Delkom's only known previously released album. Originally released in 1990 by the wonder duo consisting of Saba Komossa and Gabi Delgado. The album is released as a continuous mix with each track delineated on the grooves. Imagine Berlin in 1990, the wall is about to come down, no social media, no CDJs, new drugs are being standardized and this is the soundtrack to your night out in this debaucherous capital, exploding with energies that anthropology PhD students still haven't been able to fully describe. The entire record sounds like a dub mix that almost wasn't allowed to be released by the record label, unorthodox in its methods, too experimental for most studios yet highly effective on the best of dancefloors. All killer, no filler. Sexually charged lyrics, driving percussive rawness over heftily synthesized bass lines, all boxes are checked for total club mayhem. Pioneers in their own right, clearly marking their territory in Berlin dancefloor culture from its early post reunification days.

It was maybe only a matter of time before DJs Luca Lozano and Dawl collaborated on a record, the two artists have been circling each other in orbit for years now. 'Cybernetik Synergy' plays on the virtual space created between the two producers while working online, the tracks on the EP were sketched out, passed back and forth in folders until they were finished...meaning the artists never actually met in person. The result is both bleepy and breaky, its a rave record that takes in the duo's influences and love of old classic dance hits. The theme of technocractic collaboration is developed further by the final (vinyl-only) track, a collection of separate stems from the A1 that enable the listeners to be able remix the tracks themselves and then send in to the label via the QR code on the sleeve.

Italian House Music producer, Fabio Monesi, delivers a smoking 8 track double lp of old school bombs for L.I.E.S. Records. These tracks go right back to the essence, hitting the full spectrum with stripped back classic New York and Chicago House cuts that wouldn't seem out of place in a BMX or Wbls mix from back in the day. It’s been a quiet couple of years for Posthuman’s I Love Acid series, but it’s back with the first of three 12”s to see out 2023. Ila027 comes from Australian hardware wizard Dylab. In the hands of Red Axes, even a relative DJ tool is a cosmic journey, as demonstrated on the escalating ‘Oh My Arp’, which finds a collection of the finest analogue musical machinery in electronic music conspiring to fry synapses, with traditional Tel Aviv musicality unexpectedly emerging from deep in the mix.

Finally, ‘20Min’ sees the pair turn their attention to both percussive control and their penchant for suspense, using relatively minimal elements to conjure a liquified roller full of dense, subtle drum play and distinctly psychedelic touches.

Paranoid London’s 303 broke in lockdown & they couldn’t find anybody that would repair it, so they got on & made the new EP without any trademark Acid tracks. The 4 EP tracks range from Liaisons Dangereuses inspired white noise percussion to banging sine wave techno. Euphoric festival destroyers to deep, warped k-hole vocal house. Perfectly timed to drop as dance floors & festivals start to reopen get used to these tracks.

Banging 1995 acid on Woody McBride's Communique and Head In the Clouds labels. Not too dissimilar from the euphoric acid thats doing the rounds at the moment.

Now these have been sitting in a box since mid 90's. One we were probably too scared to look in so the sleeves are not that mint but the vinyl is totally fine.

Type-303 returns to Super Rhythm Trax and spreads his wings to present a very acidic 4 tracker. It’s a beautifully balanced Ep that deftly moves between filthy warehouse bangers and poignant melodies cascading over broken beats, perfect for early morning moments of reflection.
