Netherworld marks a considerable step onwards from the territory that Louise Patricia Crane explored on her debut long player Deep Blue, crafting audial landscapes that go further into both inner and outer space; hallucinatory and surrealistic yet also grittier and more direct. For all that this stemmed in part from early Genesis and The Beatles, Netherworld also sits in alignment with the luxurious but oddly intimate realm of modern classics, by the likes of Tears For Fears, Tori Amos and Joni Mitchell, with passionate intensity set in a bold, cinematic vista. In realising these romantic and expansive visions, Crane not only wrote or co-wrote the entire album, but arranged, co-produced and played a wide variety of instruments on it. Yet as a supporting cast, she has surrounded herself with a formidable selection of mercurial contributors. Once again, Jakko M. Jakszyk (King Crimson) brings his fiery and mellifluous solo guitar work, as well as contributing backing vocals, keyboards and co-production. Elsewhere, the flute soliloquies of Tiny Bard are the work of Jethro Tull’s Ian Andersonwhile saxophone duties are handled by Mel Collins, whose work with King Crimson marks only one chapter in an incredibly storied life in music. Providing violin and viola across the stylistic expanse of the album, Shir-Ran Yinon (New Model Army / Eluveitie) returns as a collaborator. The rhythm section for the lion's share of the record consists of the dream team of Tony Levin (King Crimson / Peter Gabriel) and Gary Husband (John McLaughlin / Billy Cobham / Allan Holdsworth) with Nick Beggs stepping in on bass for Dance With The Devil and upright bass on Long Kiss Goodnight. Crucially however, even amidst this kind of company, Louise’s voice and vision is never remotely overshadowed—with the talents on offer only serving to make the backdrop to her songs still more vivid, sharp and intense. In as much as Netherworld is a work that exists on a lineage of progressive music and the visionary artists who’ve expanded their boundaries of exploration to form sound-worlds as big as their imagination, it’s also a work of magical realism in the tradition of Pan’s Labyrinth, The Company Of Wolves or the work of Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Haruki Murakami—in which the supernatural and otherworldly, lead to a shortcut to the essence of being human. The compilations’ title track “Forever Gamblin On You” by Petroc And Pals, features an echo-laden folk rock recollection of hard feelings delivered with swelling guitar in a mournful soft psychedelia. Angie Pepper’s “Miss You Too Much” dwells on a past love, rolling along with an effortlessly cool rhythm section, while Roy McComas croons of his manifested “angel of love” on the swirling psych folk cut “Girl Of My Dreams”.

The strongest new rock band, Flower Travelin' Band (ftb) A masterpiece third album that pursues all possibilities and fully packs the band's charm. First Canadian recording. As much as possible at this time, we have chosen materials that are as close to the original materials as possible to recreate the original cardboard jacket.

Released in 1971, this was the first album produced by a Japanese artist with the overseas market in mind. It was released simultaneously in the United States, Canada, and Japan, and the single ""satori Part 2"" reached number 8 in Canada. Due to the trend of Oriental thought in Europe and America, his works are characterized by incorporating more Eastern and Japanese sounds. Japan at this time was also in the transition period from GS to folk, and there were still few people who accepted rock, but they continue to be supported by their advanced sound. Of course, it is very popular overseas and its popularity is still undiminished.

From one of the last few concerts of King Crimson’s final US tour of the ‘70s, “usa” was issued as an epitaph for the band in Spring 1975 as a single album, at a time when doubles or even triple live albums were considered more the norm for live releases. Deleted towards the end of the vinyl era in the mid-1980s, it remained unreleased in the CD era until the expanded edition was finally issued in October 2002. In common with much of Crimson’s output, it was not well received by critics when originally released, though its critical reputation grew immeasurably in the intervening years to the point where a review of the “21st Century Guide to King Crimson” boxed set in 2004 identified the album as the point

Rashinban is a Japanese psychedelic rock band led by Seiichi Yamamoto who is well known as a guitarist of Japanese experimental/noise/space rock/tribal drumming band Boredoms. The album features a lineup of feel-good pop songs that are far removed from the noise-focused expression that Seiichi Yamamoto has shown in his previous works in his other bands, such as Boredoms and Omoide Hatoba. However, beneath the gentle melodies, there is still a tingling tension and a sense of insanity.

Rashinban released their 2nd album called "Seika" in 1998. The vocals are as unarticulated as if the spoken word and naturally assimilate into the song itself. If a pop song is a kind of mimicry, this album perfectly fulfills the role. You can't catch the outlines of the songs even if you look closely. But it is not ambiguous. From "Seika," a song that evokes a deep affection for the Beach Boys, to "Acoustic," a folk song that would be rude to call it neo-acoustic, to the new wave "Cool Down," it is as if we are tracing Seiichi Yamamoto's itinerary as a listener, It has no drama and no climax. But once you get caught up in the song, it will be stuck in your head forever.

The duo unit Samuel Purdey, consisting of Gavin Dodds and Barney Harle, both former members of Jamiroquai during its early tours, released their only album "Musically Adrift" in 1999. This album, which involved talents from the Steely Dan circle such as producer Elliot Scheiner and guitarist Elliot Randall, continues to shine even a quarter-century after its release, serving as an enduring masterpiece in the realm of contemporary AOR. P-vine is delighted to reissue this work on colored vinyl.

The album features standout tracks like "Lucky Radio," which was also released as a 7-inch single, along with the enchanting chord progressions and vocal harmonies of "Whatever I Do," the disco-infused number "Only When I'm With You" with memorable talkbox phrases, and a cover of Carole King's "Bitter With The Sweet." Each song is a masterpiece that allows you to savor the subtleties of songwriting within a mellow groove.

The treasured Japanese soft rock album produced by Haruomi Hosono is finally reissued in analog LP format! The only album "Aiiro no Kisetsu" (The Season of The Color of Love) (original release date: July 1975) by the group "Kaze Chorus Dan" (Wind Chorus Group) from the Yamaha Popular Song Contest is reissued on analog vinyl. Haruomi Hosono participated fully as producer, lyricist, composer, arranger, and player. The beautiful chorus work of mixed voices, the tight performance by the Tin Pan Alley family, and the Western taste and groove that is like A&M are the best kept soft-rock treasures.

"Graveyard Club Music" Moku. Selected and edited two self-produced EPs, and announced the first nationally distributed album "MokuROKU / MokuROKU 2". The four-piece band "Moku" sings pure Japanese lyrics that are strongly influenced by folk music over a gloomy dance beat that makes ghosts dance. The dub elements, which are as deep as the roots in the ground, seem to take them in a completely different direction from the artists who came before them, while still retaining the dim but tasteful psychedelics of Shintaro Sakamoto and Kikagakumoyo.

Motoaki Masuo, known for his active role as a guitarist in the 1970s and 1980s, debuted his album on Polydor in 1973. This album, a hidden gem of Japanese soft rock, showcases his talent as a songwriter, arranger, and singer. Notable guests on the album include Masami Tsuchiya, who later formed Ippudo, as well as Takeru Sato and Tetsuji Hayashi.

Guitarist-singer Pappo aka Norberto Aníbal Napolitano (1950 – 2005) is one of his country's biggest rock legends, who also managed to make a career outside his home country. He was there right from the beginning of Argentine rock, as guitarist of the first version of Los Abuelos de la Nada, Conexión Nº 5, Engranaje and Los Gatos, the band that made Argentine rock a household name thanks to the success of their first single, “La Balsa”, which sold more than 200.000 copies in 1967.

Jorge Álvarez (co-founder of the first Argentinian independent rock label Mandioca) encouraged Pappo to develop his own music. What followed was the formation of the first version of Pappo’s Blues in 1971, a trio that had Pappo himself on guitar and vocals, David Lebón on bass and Black Amaya on drums. Their self-named debut album was an unqualified success among the ever-growing audience of Argentine rock. It contained a bundle of all-time classics such as “El hombre suburbano” (The suburban man), “El viejo” (The old man) and “Adónde está la Libertad” (Where is freedom?).

Pappo’s Blues (1971, also known as “Volume One”) introduced a new element to Argentine rock: a harder rock and blues sound, combined with intelligent and sensitive lyrics with centered on the vicissitudes of a typical young man trying to live life according to his own rules, surrounded by the mores of an intolerant society. The arabesques of Pappo’s guitar, complemented by a solid and yet elastic rhythm section, made for an exciting and daring sound, where his trademark rock and blues sound also extended to embrace blues ballads and even excursions into psychedelia.

Performing at the city’s Coliseum venue, Led Zeppelin performed one of the finest shows of the entire tour. THE FIRST LIVE RENDITION OF THE WORLD FAMOUS TUBULAR BELLS! Mike Oldfield was a member of rock-band Barefoot for a while, and then became bass player for Kevin Ayers’ backing group The Whole World. He also played on an album by the Edgar Broughton Band, worked as reserve guitarist in the London production of Hair, and gigged with Alex Harvey. Then he met Richard Branson. Working at Branson’s recently acquired Manor studios as a backing guitarist, Oldfield played some of his own tapes to Branson’s engineer Simon Draper, who played them to Branson – Branson then offered Oldfield a six-album deal with his new label Virgin Records. Tubular Bells was released on 25 May 1973 as the first album on the Virgin label. The title track became a top 10 hit single in the US after the opening was used in the 1973 movie The Exorcist. Virgin now decided to organise a live performance of Tubular Bells at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall to promote the LP. Oldfield assembled a line-up to perform the music that on record he’d all-but single-handedly created. Mick Taylor, then still with the Rolling Stones played, alongside David Bedford, Robert Wyatt, Steve Hillage and members of the band Henry Cow – all of whom, save for Taylor, ended up making records for Virgin subsequently. At a later date Mike was to comment that he was unhappy with the performance adding, “I stood on the stage at the end of the concert and looked at the audience, and they looked at me. And do you know what they did? They actually applauded. I was amazed. I hated that concert”. However, the assembled masses who witnessed the first live rendition of this ground-breaking record disagreed, and Mike Oldfield’s preconceived ideas about the project not working were totally unfounded. The concert was recorded for live radio broadcast both in the UK and across the US, where it was synched by a number of networks and is now at last available on vinyl! SIDE A1.
