At the end of 2008, the Cologne band Locas In Love released their third album "Winter" as a follow-up to the surprise success "Saurus" (2007). Written and recorded within two months in the summer of 2008, it was meant to be uncomplicated, fast and immediate and consequently "Winter" was the band's first completely self-produced album, produced in living rooms between Cologne's Gereonsviertel and Brooklyn, NY. The title theme still makes it the most cohesive of their albums, and it is the document of a friendship. The reason for the vinyl reissue is only secondarily the 15th anniversary of the release or the fact that the album was long out of print, but primarily the unexpected death of LD Beghtol in 2020. Locas In Love got to know the exceptional New York artist as a fan of his music (among other things as a contributor and singer of the Magnetic Fields on "69 Love Songs"). On "Winter" he appeared as a quasi-member and co-producer and can now be discovered by new music fans with his masterful song miniature "Packice", this heartbreaking mixture of winter blues and cryogenic science fiction. And so the Berlin label Staatsakt (which has just celebrated its own 20th anniversary) is now releasing the luxuriously equipped reissue. The hand-numbered limited edition with new artwork by Stefanie Schrank contains the scrapbook designed by LD Beghtol, which was also included with the first pressing, an 8-page songbook with lyrics and chords, as well as the 68-page Locas In Love Winter Chronicles, in which tour diaries and other texts from the time are summarised with a current self-interview of the band. The extensive bonus material is less about myths or detailed writing and recording processes and more about what it means to be a band, to live with each other and your own music - and to grow old.

Musically, "Winter" is the Locas In Love album that can least be attributed to a specific time or genre - it could be a forgotten private press release from the 1970s or a neo-lo-fi work from the TikTok era. If it can be located in a time at all, then it's the eponymous season. Or, as Stefanie Schrank describes it in her self-interview: "Winter the album is like winter the season, belongs to it and always comes back."

Back in 1998 Abdominal released his debut album "Ab Flex" on tape only. He sold most of his tapes out of his knapsack back then as you did in the 90's, true backpack rap! This was where it all started for Ab, who became known as one of the best rappers and freestylers ever to come out of Canada and often collaborated with DJ Format in the years to come.

A while ago Ab found 63 original tapes in his dad's basement and headz jumped on those like crazy. Now HHE is extremely proud to announce our collabo with Ab to bring you this amazing piece of work on both CD and Vinyl as well.

Not only will you get the original 9 tracks, no... we will add 6 more previously unreleased bonus tracks from these sessions! To make it even more special we have included an insert with extra info AND we hooked up with known local Toronto illustrator and artist Kagan McLeod (a personal friend of Abdominal) who updated the front cover entirely making this not only an album but a limited piece of art as well!

All tracks remastered by Justin Perkins and the vinyl will be limited to 300 copies total in 3 versions.

The fifteen-piece kaleidoscopic ensemble IzangoMa might only be releasing its debut offering on the esteemed UK-based label Brownswood Recording this coming Northern Hemisphere Spring, but the collective’s roots stretch back to the meeting of Sibusile Xaba (vox/keys) and Ashley Kgabo (synths/snare drum/drum machine) in 2016. The album is the logical next step in a journey. Sibusile Xaba reveals a side to his virtuosic talent at cardinal opposites with the familiar folk sound the largesse knew him for. Kings rejoice in laughter on album opener “Agenda Re-member”, while the music cascades carefree over frequencies expressing joy and positive living. In this world, IzangoMa’s world, the moon sings sweet melodies and the children rejoice in laughter. Worries are but a distraction, and joy is the ultimate quest. Representing New Jersey to the fullest, Miilkbone stepped to the scene in 1994 with the piano-driven single "Keep It Real", followed by the full-length debut release "Da Miilkrate" in 1995.

In the ghetto landscapes of the Delaney projects in his hometown of Perth Amboy, New Jersey, hip hop became the soundtrack of Miilkbone's life. As b-boy kids bounced their ill pills with the mad swagger of basketball macks, the boo-boom of Rakim and Kool G Rap inspired the moods, grooves and attitudes of a new generation of rhyme slayers.

Mainly produced by the likes of former Illtown protégé Mufi, Naughty By Nature's very own Kay Gee and up-and-coming Nick Wiz, the album remains a highlight from the golden era in the catalogue of rap from New Jersey.

The Apostles were a renowned Nigerian funk/soul group from the city of Aba (an epicenter for music during the 70s & 80s) and disciples of the heavy psychedelic soul/rock fusion style...for over forty years, they have stood as the jewel in the crown of the Afrobeat genre in Eastern Nigeria and champions of its flourish ing post-war music scene. Since their formation in 1973, the band has turned out memorable perf ormances in a variety of styles including rock, soul, funk, pop and reggae. The Apostles amassed a large following, enjoyed an immense success throughout Nigeria and went on to release multiple albums. Although most of their songs are sung in English, a few of their songs are also sung in Igbo. The Apostles became superstars on the strength of several hit singles and have been preaching a particular blend of funky psychedelic soul/rock fusion for over 40 years. Consisting of MCs A+, Phesto, Opio and Tajai (with production by A+, Domino, Del the Funky Homosapien, Jay Biz and Casual), East Oaklands Souls of Mischief burst onto the scene in the early 90s with an impact that few other West Coast artists had at the time. Culminating in the release of their classic debut, they created a bouillabaisse that was most parts West Coast swagger but – similar to The D.O.C. and Cypress Hill – with a sonic approach that could just as well have stepped off the streets of New York City.

Recorded in less than two weeks at San Franciscos Hyde Street Studios, 93 til Infinity doesn't suffer from a single freshman jitter or misstep. It's a fully-realized effort, packed from start to finish with ridiculous lyricism – all carried out in impressive four-part, tag-team style – and backed by a wide range of musical possibilities, from hard boom-bap to 70s CTI-jazz-sprinkled grooves. But without worthy music, the group's high-level lyricism could have fallen by the wayside. Digging deep into crates that other producers had yet to mine, the production crew gave the quartet exactly what they needed, with unpredictable rolling baselines, dusty drums and jazz keyboard and horn stabs and swirls. Non-singles like Disseshowedo (produced by Domino and Jay Biz), Batting Practice (Casual), Limitations (Jay Biz, with Del and Casual contributing verses) and What A Way To Go Out (Domino) made sure that the fast-forward button remained untouched.

Includes a new pressing on cloudy blue and cloudy yellow vinyl, packaged in a gatefold jacket with liner notes and a commemorative 30th Anniversary stamped numbered OBI limited to 2000 copies.
