In 1968 four of the five original members of The Wizards From Kansas formed a band called ‘New West’, and began playing in the Lawrence, Kansas area, at clubs and parties. Californian guitarist Robert Manson Crain joined the group soon thereafter, expanding to a quintet. Reaching on the same esoteric drift as Clear Light or Emitt Rhodes, the band unleashed an even excellent cover of Buffy Sainte-Marie ‘Cod’ine’, more in the vein of Quicksilver M.S.

Wizrd is a Norwegian rock band that dips its toes in all kinds of genres. From rock and indie to jazz and prog, Wizrd knows all the rules but deliberately break them.

Formed at the Jazz Conservatory in Trondheim, Wizrd's four-piece line-up consists of Hallvard Gaardløs (Spidergawd, Draken and more) on bass and lead vocals, Karl Bjorå (Megalodon Collective and more) on guitar and vocals, Vegard Lien Bjerkan (Soft Ffog and more) on keyboards and vocals, Axel Skalstad (Krokofant, Soft Ffog and more) on drums.

Since 2020 the band has been working on their debut album, produced by Norwegian film score composer and Jaga Jazzist drummer Martin Horntveth. The album was recorded in Studio Paradiso in Oslo by Marcus Forsgren (Bror Forsgren, Jaga Jazzist) and Horntveth. Bergen based musician and producer Matias Tellez (Young Dreams, Girl in Red) has mixed the album.

“Seasons” is a groovy, catchy and progressive masterclass, with beautiful vocal harmonies, awesome melodies, quirky jazz grooves and a rock’n’roll drive to die for.

Bands were imitating bands that were imitating bands that were ... you get the idea. Wobbler was something very, very different. In keeping with the original progressive ethos, they took inspirations from a wide variety of sources. 60s and 70s rock, jazz, electronica and extreme metal, to name a few. Wanting to up their game both musically and sonically, the band took their sweet time to hone their new material and to record things as pristinely as they could. A major factor in the "new" Wobbler sound that would appear on the band's 3rd album, “Rites at Dawn” (2011), was the arrival of new singer Andreas W. S. Prestmo. Since Andreas is also a songwriter and lyricist, he brought the band up to a new level where vocal melodies, lyrics, arrangements and performances came together in a cohesive whole. “Rites at Dawn” reflected Andreas' preoccupations with nature and spirituality in words and music that took on a luminous, mystical nature. It was also an album where Lars' production skills came to the fore, with a mix that was crystal clear, showcasing each individual musician's newfound maturity. Martin's drums had never sounded better, and the intricacies and grooves of his playing were perfectly married to Kristian's Rickenbacker, that wove its way between Lars and Morten's labyrinthine chords and leads in a remarkably melodic, yet inventive way.
