UK techno legend Mark Broom releases ‘100% Juice’ LP on Rekids. Following the acclaimed ‘Funfzig LP’ on Rekids in 2021 as well as his ‘Mutated Battle Breaks’ series on the techno focussed Rekids Special Projects, Mark Broom returns to Radio Slave’s imprint for his latest full length, ‘100% Juice’, dropping this April.

Title track ‘100% Juice’ leads the charge, barreling forward with phased hats and trippy bleeps, before ‘Slush’ carries the rest of the A-side with dense synths and stereo trickery. ‘Rainbow’ bridge sees muted chords drifting in and out of focus alongside rattling drum programming before ‘Reverse’ mutates dub techno inspired elements with swathes of spacious FX and pitch-perfect processing.

Opening the second disc is the aptly titled ‘Wonky Workout’, which sees hard-hitting kicks meeting freaked out leads, followed by the fast-paced ‘I Want’, which brings crunchy, shuffling percussion and effected vocal samples together to devastating effect. The final side of vinyl is the one-two punch of ‘Boxed In’ and ‘Wiggle Me This’, with the former bringing sharp keys, rumbling low end and glistening pads, while the latter closes out the LP with warped acid lines and crisp drums. Releasing on labels such as Rekids, M-Plant, and Blueprint, the wildly prolific Broom has consistently beenat the forefront of the techno scene for decades with his gritty, groove-based output while, away from the dancefloor, his The Fear Ratio project with James Ruskin continues to win critical acclaim.

Following the acclaimed ‘Funfzig LP’ on Rekids in 2021 as well as his ‘Mutated Battle Breaks’ series on the techno focussed sub-label Rekids Special Projects, UK stalwart Mark Broom returns to Radio Slave’s Rekids with ‘100% Juice Album Sampler’, a four-track taster for his next album titled ‘100% Juice’, scheduled to be released in April.

Leading the A-side is ‘100% Juice (Sampler Mix)’, a jacked-up take on the album’s title track, with chunky kicks, off-kilter stabs, and crunching claps kickstarting the record. ‘Contigo’ follows, with trippy synths providing a dose of silliness alongside razor-sharp drums. On the flip, ‘Nod To The D’ pays homage to classic Detroit sounds, as light arpeggios and bright synths weave their way through silky pads before closer.

‘Spiked’ sees a funk-laden groove take charge as unruly leads flutter atop the jacking groove. UK techno legend Mark Broom announces his ‘Fast Fünfzig EP’ for Radio Slave’s Rekids this June, ahead of a full LP for the label in July.

Mark Broom’s mammoth discography shows an artist who has put in the hours, boasting appearances on legendary imprints such as Robert Hood’s M-Plant, Warp Records, Pure Plastic, Bpitch Control, and of course Rekids. Alongside his solo work, his collaborations are an equal tour-de-force, with groups such as The Fear Ratio with James Ruskin counted as fan favourites.

Here though, Broom takes the reigns solo, drawing on decades worth of experience for a 12” of mind-altering cuts for one of electronic music’s most vital labels. Lead track ‘Fingers’ sees the British DJ/producer toying with rubbery basslines, glistening pads, and chunky percussion to deliver an irresistibly buoyant house track. ‘Slow’ follows suit, bringing another dose of deep low end next to eerie leads and shining synthesis.

On the flip, Broom enters electro-tinged territory on ‘Wild Style’, tying unruly machines together with vocal chops over a staggered, off-kilter drum pattern. Taking the B2 spot, ‘Facteur’ sees a reflective touch to the EP as emotive progressions unfurl under robust, mechanical hits, providing a cohesive and captivating taste of the LP to follow in July.

Mark Broom returns to Rekids with the ‘Showtime’ EP.

Mark Broom’s return to Radio Slave’s Rekids imprint takes in four tracks that showcase the UK techno legend’s sample-twisting style of house and techno. With a slew of EPs, LPs and remixes for Rekids and sister label Rspsx in recent years, Broom is one of the label’s core roster and most in-demand artists.

Tough drums meet soulful, recognisable strings in ‘Klashjamz’, a real blast to the past chopped up in creatively funky ways. The title track ‘Showtime’ is next, its groove skipping and stuttering before breaking out into jazzy electro swing done right.

On the flip, broom brings in ‘highnrg’, a percussive, peak-time treat that expertly does what it says on the tin via a pulsating, rolling bassline accompanied by hypnotic vocals and infectious rhythm. ‘Jazz Ting’ then closes Mark Broom’s ‘Showtime’ EP, a hyped-up number with an earworm, classic & classy melody.

Techno, house, hardgroove and rave, Mark Broom is one of UK dance music’s legends and has a myriad of production credits to his name dating back to 1989.
