The original line up of Monster Magnet are pleased to announce a new album 'Test Patterns: Vol. 1' on God Unknown Records. It will be on 180gm black vinyl and housed in a beautiful gatefold sleeve, with acid blotter insert. The track Tab was originally released back in 1991. This is a 2021 mix of the original track and the never before released 1988 demo version, with both tracks being over 24 minutes each. It's viewed as an influential track with psychedelic / heavy psych / space rock and stoner rock fans and will sit nicely alongside Sleep's 'Dopesmoker'. Julian Cope described the original release as distilling Hawkwind, Sabbath and The Stooges into a lysergic soup of brown acid and bathtub meth, and ultimately cultivating a "Altamont vibe"; that is, the negative end of the psychedelic spectrum. Get ready for lift off! Hail the BULLGOD -180g Black vinyl w/ Acid Blotter Insert! -Born from the Red Bank of New Jersey, the early days of Monster Magnet were a cosmos away from the major-label, alternative rock boom that would suck the band into the shiny MTV world of the early to middle 90s. Originally formed by Dave Wyndorf, John McBain and Tim Cronin, Monster Magnet lysergic oozed into the world in 1989 with two demo tapes - `Forget About Life, I'm High On Dope' and `I'm Stoned, What Ya Gonna Do About It?' - making it perfectly clear from the start where they were coming from. This was a band revelling in bad trips and the death of the hippy dream with a Manson Family stare, playing squelchy lo-fi psychedelic music with a rabid punk rock sneer, like The Stooges terrorising Hawkwind at the most unpleasant free festival imaginable. There were tales of entire audiences at their gigs being spiked with LSD. It didn't matter if this was true or not, it all added to the mystique. This was indeed a satanic drug thing, you wouldn't understand. Those two demos formed the base of what would become their pivotal `Spine Of God' album from 1991 and the '25_Tab' EP, which featured the mesmerising 32-minut...

„Tab“ (a.k.a. Tab 25 or 25 Tab) is the title of Monster Magnet's second EP, released in Europe in 1991 and in the United States two years later. Originally released on Glitterhouse Records, it was recorded before the band's 1991 debut album „Spine of God“ but issued afterwards to capitalize on its success. Though long enough to qualify as a full-length album, it is referred to as an EP. It is generally viewed by critics as the band's most psychedelic release, with the first two tracks alone totaling 45 minutes.
