Released for Record Day ’24, Remorse? No ! is a 40th anniversary reimagined redux of 1984’s legendary compilation ‘No Remorse’ feat previously unreleased, rare and live tracks and new sleeve notes, available on double silver vinyl. With initial copies sold in handsome black leather sleeve, No Remorse arrived in September 1984 as Motörhead’s first retrospective compilation and last for Bronze Records after six career-arcing years. To mark forty years since Lemmy compiled the original, this alternative redux version now available for Record Store Day 2024 on silver double vinyl and with new sleeve notes, has been built using demos, alternative versions and live renditions of its tracks, traversing the original Lemmy-selected running order to present a fascinatingly different take on Motörhead’s first decade.

Cassette tapes. Remember those? Those things with the dual spools and loads of wide brown plastic recording string that’d occasionally unravel and hang out of the shell, requiring a pencil and firm wrist to spin back into place? Yeah, well, once upon a time, old-school sound systems contained cassette decks for the express purpose of recording shows, and these “cassette” things were a standard part of every tour. Motörhead were certainly no exception, recording show after show. They contain gold, pure aural gold, and had for many years sat hundreds of feet underground in a small cave Lemmy owned, guarded by small, hairy centurions in Roman armor with small spears and bad attitudes. Only the magic password would release them, and thankfully, Lem had scribbled it down and left it inside an old sketch book for us (no, were won’t tell you the password, although it did have the words ’nie nie nie’ in it). There were loads of the dirty, dusty, greasy little buggers gathered, with the likes of Lyon, Liverpool, Hamburg and Chippenham (!!) scrawled in biro on the tiny labels alongside a date...and thus we are delighted to announce that this unique collection of live gems will now be heard by the world, via carefully digitized transfers, in a new series titled THE Löst Tapes. VOL. TWO has been hand-picked by the increasingly deaf, but well-meaning (and hydrated!) Motörhead team, along with surviving members Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee, and sees the trio in blistering form on the Snake Bite Love album tour recorded -at the University of East Anglia, Norwich on 18th October 1998.

Motorhead’s debut album is a stone cold classic. The musical alchemy between Lemmy (vocals/bass), Phil ‘Philphy Animal’ Taylor (drums) and ‘Fast’ Eddie Clarke is evident throughout on hard rock classics like ‘White Line Fever’, ‘Vibrator’, ‘Keep Us On The Road’, ‘Lost Johnny’, ‘Train Kept A Rollin’, ‘Iron Horse’/’Born To Loose’ and the seminal title track.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of its original release, we present a special facsimile edition of Motörhead’s first album.

The silver logo and white vinyl release echoes Chiswick’s original 1977 release.

Includes a fully illustrated inner sleeve.

1977 was a pivotal year for Motorhead, seeing as it saw the release of their debut, self-titled album and also the hiring of Fast Eddie Clarke, forging what is invariably seen as the classic line up of this seminal band. The year may be closely associated with the height of punk rock, but the ultra heavy metal stylings of Lemmy and co always crossed the divide and appealled to punk and metal fans alike. The 11 tracks here straddle the tracks written for that debut LP ('Iron Horse/Born To Lose', 'Vibrator' and 'White Line Fever') and older material such as 'Motorhead', originally penned by Lemmy's previous employers Hawkwind, their cover of Eddie Holland's Motown classic 'Leaving Here' and 'On Parole', first recorded with Clarke's predecessor Larry Wallis in 1976 then shelved. The sound of one of the finest bands ever just beginning to hit their stride.

Das Album erreichte in Deutschland auf Anhieb die Top 1 Chart Position mit Songs, wie dem Brechkegel “Thunder & Lightning” oder “Teach Them How To Bleed”. Das Album war tough, clean, mean und eines der kompromisslosesten Werke von Motörhead ever! Cameron Webb hatte seinen Anteil daran; er überzeugte die Band, das Album in den NRG North Hollywood, Maple Studios und Grandmaster in Kalifornien live aufzunehmen– zum allerersten Mal in der Ära Kilmister/Campbell/Dee. Von der gewaltigen Punk Energie bei “Electricity” bis hin zu Queens Brian May, der einen sprühenden Gastauftritt bei “The Devil” hat, dazu gewaltige Aggression, Attitüde und exzellentes Songwriting. Phil Campbell hat nicht nur seine besten Gitarrenstücke aufgenommen, er hat die besten Solos in einer Dekade abgeliefert und Mikkey Dees Schlagzeugspiel gab dem Motörhead Sound eine neue Resonanz.
