Clear Blue Vinyl Edition Gatefold Cover and Brand New Artwork! “Murderock - Uccide a passi di danza” (internationally released as “Murder Rock” is a thriller/horror 1984 film directed by legendary Lucio Fulci about a dance school in which a mysterious murderer kills female students with a long pin. Its soundtrack was entrusted by the producers to Keith Emerson, another incredible artist, a virtuoso keyboardist and composer. In those early 1980s, having temporarily shelved the prog-rock experience of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Keith Emerson launched a solo career that led him to compose a number of soundtracks, including “Inferno” (1980), “Nighthawks” (1981) and, then, “Murderock”: here we have an energetic mix of 80s pop/rock anthems, perfectly in line with the sounds of the time, dressed with baroque and magniloquent arrangements that make the whole result extravagant and eccentric, almost impossible to classify and consequently unique. The most ‘straightforward’ and least extravagant tracks are “Tonight Is The Night”, “Streets To Blame” and “Not So Innocent”, sung by special guests Doreen Chanter and Mike Sheppard. “Murderock” has become a cult title among genre film fans over the years, and is here reissued on the occasion of Black Friday 2023 in a new clear blue vinyl version with gatefold sleeve and audio remastered by Claudio Fuiano. Another dream coming true! One of Giuliano Sorgini’s finest and most sought-after titles is finally available as an official LP reissue – the first ever – remastered from the original tapes.
Originally released in 1971 on the small library music imprint FAMA, which operated as a sub-label of RCA Italy, the record contains the original music written for Scappo per cantare, a small, pseudo-psychedelic ‘musicarello’ (musical comedy film) broadcast on RAI television and starring, among others, Italian singers Gianni Morandi and Mauro Lusini.
The only credited album artist is Sorgini, but it’s impossible not to perceive, in this record, the hand of his close friend and colleague Alessandro Alessandroni.
This should not come as a surprise. In the early 70s, the two composers and multi-instrumentalists had a fruitful collaboration that saw them, under the monikers Braen (Alessandroni) and Raskovich (Sorgini), produce an abundance of works together, most of which have now gained the recognition they deserve. These include, among others, two 7” singles from their band The Pawnshop, three records in the series Alle sorgenti delle civiltà (Folkmusic), the crime/noir library albums Quarta pagina (Usignolo) and Inchiesta giudiziaria (Octopus Records), as well as the LP Tempo Libero (Panda Records), which was released shortly after the record presented here and in some ways drew rhythmic inspiration from it.
While their collaboration remained unacknowledged on the original release of Scappo per cantare (this was not uncommon at the time, especially in the field of library music), the record sounds perfectly in line with other works composed by Alessandroni in the early 70s, such as Complesso Gisteri’s Mostra Collettiva (co-written with Oronzo De Filippi), or even a landmark album like Spontaneous, where Sorgini contributed to a handful of tracks.
So, yes, the sheer beauty of Scappo per cantare is the result of an incredible synergy between two heavyweights of Italian library music! Airy and sweeping melodies à la Zoo Folle, psychedelia à la Under Pompelmo, and various percussion instruments played by Sorgini seamlessly blend and fuse with elements and touches provided by Alessandroni.
More specifically, we find Alessandroni’s signature, melancholy whistle in “Desolazione”; the peaceful and dreamy sound of his 12-string guitar in “Scogliere” and “Con Amore”; the trademark harmonies of his vocal ensemble Cantori Moderni in the last two tracks mentioned and in “Per cantare”; and his ingenious use of distortion on his Fender Stratocaster in the suspenseful transitions “Concentrazione” and “Fantocci”, as well as in the frantic/hypnotic hippie numbers “Mordente” and “Fendente” (as a side note, it is worth remembering that Alessandroni experimented extensively with distortion in the rock-infused album Underground, co-written with De Filippi and released in 1971 under the moniker Braen’s Machine, probably a reference to British psychedelic band Soft Machine).
The creative relationship between Sorgini and Alessandroni was so symbiotic that it would be useless to try to identify in more detail their respective contributions to the sound of Scappo per cantare. The alchemy between these two musical geniuses is the key to the album’s exquisitely Italian mixture of cheerful lounge, sweet psychedelia and smooth easy listening.
To do justice to the quality of the music, this remastered reissue is enriched by a new artwork by Eric Adrian Lee, who drew inspiration from the psychedelic visual culture of the period in which the album was written and recorded.

“Metti, una sera a cena” is a 1969 movie directed by Joseph Patrons Griffi, made up from an eponymous theater script and especially transposed to the film medium. It immediately obtained consents and success, and paved the road to success for actors Florinda Bolkan and Tony Musante in particular. So did the music written by Ennio Morricone, who in 1970 won the Nastro D’Argento Award for Best Score. Lounge sounds, bossa nova, jazz (especially the drums touch) and beat (usually still in vogue in the Italy of the late ’60s), seasoned with orchestral arrangements conducted by Bruno Nicolai, merge here to one of the most famous soundtracks of the Italian Maestro. "Rivelazioni di un maniaco sessuale al capo della squadra mobile" (best known internationally as “So sweet, so dead”) is a 1972 giallo film by Roberto Bianchi Montero, director of various other movies mainly belonging to the western and erotic genres; the latter is here mixed with thriller and noir, for a very good final result. The soundtrack is here entrusted to the well-known pianist, arranger and composer Giorgio Gaslini (1929-2014); among the most important Italian jazz musicians of all time, he’s been quite prolific during his whole career, also in the vast field of soundtracks. In this case, he creates a memorable theme with a handful of notes and enriches it with typical 70s orchestral pop arrangements, adding an elegant touch with easy-listening jazz and lounge atmospheres. Overall, “Rivelazioni…” is a multi-genre music work in which mellow and romantic sounds coexist with more obscure and abstract ones, made with only string instruments and percussion. Originally released in 1972, this soundtrack is now reissued on LP for the first time in over 50 years, in a yellow-coloured edition with audio remastered by Claudio Fuiano and five bonus tracks here released on vinyl for the first time ever!

Rob Zombie and Waxwork are thrilled to announce their first soundtrack title as “Rob Zombie Presents White Zombie”. Starring Bela Lugosi, 1932’s White Zombie is considered the first zombie movie. It was also filmed on Universal Studio’s lot, using several props from other horror films of that time. Starring Madge Bellamy, Robert W. Frazer, and John Harron, the film follows the cast as they navigate zombies, love, obsession, and treachery. Initially slammed by critics upon its release, the movie has been reevaluated and praised by recent critics for its classic horror production. The film has gone on to influence mainstream media, even influencing the band name of White Zombie. Rob Zombie has said of the film, “It’s a great film that not a lot of people know about. It amazes me that a film that is so readily available can be so lost.”

Directed by Elizabeth Banks and inspired by the 1985 true story of a drug runner's plane crash, missing cocaine, and the black bear that ate it, this wild dark comedy finds an oddball group of cops, criminals, tourists and teens converging in a Georgia forest where a 500- pound apex predator has ingested a staggering amount of cocaine and gone on a coke-fueled rampage for more blow … and blood.

About the composer:

Mark Mothersbaugh is a Grammy, Bafta, and Emmy nominated composer, producer, designer, and visual artist whose work has become part of the pop culture consciousness. He started his career as co-creator and front man for the seminal New Wave band Devo. Their Brian Eno/David Bowie-produced debut album “Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo” was certified Gold before their hit album “Freedom of Choice” went Platinum.

For Cocaine Bear, Mothersbaugh wanted a score that reflected and captured the culture of the ’80s, with a personality that evolved as the decade’s music evolved. “At the beginning of the film, it starts out very pop,” Mothersbaugh says. “But as it goes through it, it gets heavier. The guitars change up from being acoustic and lighter to being distorted and more aggressive and there are synths throughout that provide a pulse that keeps things moving.”

To make it as authentic as possible, Mothersbaugh used the instruments that created some of the most distinctive and memorable sounds of the ’80s music scene. “Once we decided we were going to let it soak a bit in an ’80s sound, I went to the warehouse where I store equipment and my old Devo road cases full of synths,” Mothersbaugh says. “I pulled out old synths that we used on albums in the ’80s and used the same synths and a lot of the same amps and foot pedals.”

On a search to uncover the mysterious circumstances surrounding her father’s death, a newly appointed police officer, Jessica Loren (Jessica Sula) is assigned to the last shift in a decommissioned police station where a notoriously vicious cult saw their demise years prior. The lone officer at the station, she soon finds herself barraged by terrifying paranormal events, and in the process, is taken on a journey during which she learns the shocking truth behind her family’s entanglement with a demented cult leader. MALUM takes the premise of the 2014 festival hit and flips it on its head, thrusting viewers into an unrelenting, adrenaline-fueled, bloody cult nightmare.

About the Composer

Samuel Laflamme is a composer who has strengthened projects across the film, television and video game worlds. Samuel Laflamme began his composing career scoring numerous television shows, documentaries, and ad spots across a multitude of genres. He has collaborated with many of the top video game companies in the industry, including Ubisoft, Activision, and Red Barrels where he worked on the critically acclaimed survival horror-game Outlast. Samuel’s other credits include French Canadian dramatic comedy series Le Chalet, along with the 2016 Canadian-American co-production, fantasy film Wait Till Helen Comes, based on Mary Downing Hahn’s best-selling novel from the 1980’s.

About the Director

Protégé of filmmaker/novelist Clive Barker, Anthony DiBlasi partnered in Barker’s production company Seraphim Films for nearly ten years, serving as a key executive & producer on films such as MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN starring Bradley Cooper and BOOK OF BLOOD. DiBlasi adapted and directed DREAD from the Barker short story, starring Laura Donnelly (HBO’s The Nevers) which won "Best Independent Feature" at the Spike Scream Awards. DiBlasi has adapted several Barker novels for the screen including THE DAMNATION GAME (Warner Bros) and THE THIEF OF ALWAYS (Fox).

DiBlasi directed, co-wrote and edited “Last Shift” a critically acclaimed supernatural horror film released by Magnolia Pictures in 2015. Last Shift was named among the top 5 horror films of 2015 and won both a Golden Skull award and an iHorror award. DiBlasi has directed 8 features including the critically acclaimed thriller MISSIONARY and MOST LIKELY TO DIE for Netflix. DiBlasi recently wrapped production on MALUM, an expanded reimagining of “Last Shift,” and is currently in development on the thriller THE STEP COUNTER with his writing partner and wife Natalie Victoria and Malcolm Spellman’s The 51 (The Winter Soldier).

The debut vinyl release of MALUM features the complete soundtrack by composer Samuel Laflamme pressed to 180 gram colored vinyl.

The Furies tells the story of Kayla, a young girl who is kidnapped. When she wakes up in a black coffin in the middle of a forest she quickly learns that she and others are being hunted by a group of masked men as part of a deadly game. The film is a mash-up of The Running Man meets Friday the 13th. The score is a tension filled orchestral murder spree that does not let up throughout the film. It’s a pummeling masterwork of precise timing, tempo, and dread. How exactly do you write music to a scene involving a masked madman using an axe to slice the skin off a woman’s face? Lampl and Axelholm were tasked with just that, and they killed it! Kenneth Lampl has scored over 100 films, and recently released the score to the hit film Sissy. He studied film composing under a fellowship with John Williams. This special vinyl release features brand new artwork by artist Brad Mrock on a deluxe limited jacket that has spot UV gloss on the front covers titles.

Year 1964. Almost out of nowhere, the little-known and regarded director Sergio Leone transposes into a western key a film by Akira Kurosawa, and by putting together all the right pieces, adding a bit of intuition, lays down new rules for the ‘spaghetti western’ genre, giving way to an endless series of imitations.

“A Fistful of Dollars” would not have the same impact without the inimitable music written by Ennio Morricone, who had curiously been an old elementary school Leone’s classmate. The main soundtrack themes were chosen from two arrangements that Morricone had already drafted two years earlier; once removed the lyrics and added the unmistakable whistle of Alessandro Alessandroni, the spaghetti-sound was finally complete!

The film was an incredible success, and projected Leone, Morricone, and in particular the actor Clint Eastwood into the Olympus of the Great. The soundtrack was released for the first time the following year (1965), along with the one of Sergio Leone’s subsequent work “For a Few Dollars More”.

Behold the might of Rodan, the giant monster from the sky! In 1956, Toho unleashed their first colour kaiju picture: Rodan, directed by Ishiro Honda and produced by Tomoyuki Tanaka, is a terrifying tale from the creators of the original Godzilla that sees a giant Pteranodon rise from a deep underground cave after being disturbed by miners. Like the Big G, Rodan has mutated to excessive size after being exposed to nuclear radiation, subsequently soaring free above Kyushu to cause as much mayhem as possible as the Jsdf do their best to protect the island from his bloodthirsty rampaging. It was inevitable that the man behind the music of Godzilla would also take on scoring Rodan, and the great Akira Ifukube created a score with a solemn edge as with Godzilla, which makes the music of Rodan fit in the larger universe while allowing it to feel unique to the character. For the main theme, Ifukube introduces a malevolent low piano and brass phrase before cointerpointing it with horns to create a howling menace worthy of Rodan. In contrast, beautiful but melancholy material represents the carnage the monster has brought upon the Earth; in a more upbeat mode, the composer includes another of his jaunty and jazzy marches for the Jdsf in the guise of 'Get Rodan'. It's another Toho triumph from the great maestro Ifukube! (Charlie Brigden).
