But reviving these long-out-of-print recordings is only half of the process. “We believe that an essential component of archival work, aside from simply honoring the music, is to seek ways in which to bring fresh perspectives, context, and reverence to the original artists and their work,” says Lita founder, Matt Sullivan. Thus, Lita’s acclaimed cover series was born, in which contemporary acts pay homage to their favorite Lita artists and songs. Spanning more than a decade, 20 of these inspired cover songs will be available together for the very first time, exclusively for Black Friday (November 24) on the 2xLP Light in the Attic & Friends. From Charles Bradley & The Menahan Street Band covering Detroit singer-songwriter Sixto Rodriguez and Mac DeMarco performing a song by Japanese icon Haruomi Hosono, to Iggy Pop & Zig Zags honoring funk queen Betty Davis, and Ethan & Maya Hawke covering country great Willie Nelson, these performances bridge the gap between generations, languages, and musical traditions.

Although many metalheads probably assume that Swedish guitar shredder Yngwie J. Malmsteen's first U.S.-based band was Alcatrazz, he was a brief member of another obscure Los Angeles-based metal band called Steeler. The group also featured future Keel frontman Ron Keel (bassist Rik Fox and drummer Mark Edwards also rounded out the band), and the quartet's music was similar to the pop/party metal that was ruling the Sunset Strip at the time. The band was one of the first to be signed to Mike Varney's Shrapnel label (one that has since become synonymous with highly technical guitar shredders), resulting in a lone self-titled release from 1983 before their breakup shortly thereafter. Although the album failed to make much noise upon release, it became a cult classic for fans after Malmsteen and Keel.

This is a very rare 1980 live set from LA's power pop icons The Knack, on the music show Countdown. "Baby Talks Dirty,” "Good Girls Don't," and their hit single “My Sharona,” the #1 song of 1979. Their debut album Get the Knack sold over six million copies worldwide. Their signature combination of pop melodies and irresistible rock beats broke the stranglehold of Disco and changed the course of popular music for the next decade.

The last album with the original line-up (plus guitarist Yogi Lonich), 2001's Time Bomb showed that, for Buckcherry, there was no place to go but down. And we mean WAY down…lead singer Josh Todd could have won the award for Rock Star Least Likely to Survive the Year after this record came out. Tracks like "Slit My Wrists," "Whiskey in the Morning," and "Porno Star" capture and celebrate a lifestyle decadent even by the standards of the band's Sunset Strip stomping grounds. Yet, Todd and Buckcherry are still rockin' over 20 years later...and Time Bomb holds up with its post-AC/DC/Aerosmith/Guns 'N' Roses/Mötley Crüe unholy racket. Maggots: The Record is the fourth studio album by American rock singer Wendy O. Williams and her band Plasmatics. It is often credited as being the first "Thrash Metal Opera." This comes largely because of the album follows the rock opera formula done in a form of thrash metal. Quartet was Ultravox’s third album with Midge Ure on vocals, which followed two hugely successful albums, Vienna and Rage In Eden. The previous albums were produced by German producer Conny Plank, for this release they looked to George Martin to take the helm.

Featuring four UK Top 40 singles: “Reap The Wild Wind”, “We Came To Dance”, “Visions Inn Blue,” and the silver- awarded “Hymn”. This new 2023 Stereo Mix has been undertaken by renowned musician and producer Steven Wilson, and his instrumental mixes of the album are included here, exclusively with this RSD Black Friday release.

In early 1973 Gram Parsons embarked on a tour to promote his recently released first solo album, GP. Gram put together a pretty great band, including the then-unknown Emmylou Harris as his singing partner. The shows were somewhat uneven at first, but by midtour the band started to find its groove.

One show stood out to pedal steel player Neil Flanz: the third night at the Bijou Cafe in Philadelphia. Neil felt that this was the best show of the tour and requested a copy of the soundboard recording. He saved it for almost forty years, and then it was acquired by Amoeba Music for a future Gram release. It then disappeared in the Amoeba vault for another ten years before it was rediscovered when Amoeba moved to a new location in LA.

It turns out Neil was right. This is Gram and Emmylou at their finest. And it’s the next to last club date ever for Gram and the Fallen Angels. A 50-year-old soundboard cassette offers some unique challenges, but thanks to the efforts of some of the world’s best archival sound restoration engineers, the beauty and energy of Gram, Emmy and the band shine through.
For all of those who never got to experience Gram live, this is the closest we’ll ever get to being there.

Rock im Park 2001 is a live festival recording from Nuremberg, Germany, and captures a Limp Bizkit festival performance praised as “chaotic, frenzied-high energy.” DJ Lethal functions as the sound designer, shaping their sound on this recording. According to Lethal, "I try and bring new sounds, not just the regular chirping scratching sounds. It's all different stuff that you haven't heard before.

Format: CD (Vinyl Look-A-Like Compact Disc). This Vinyl Look-A-Like Compact Disc is yellow on both sides with an LP groove and record label design. Goo Goo Dolls (also known as First Release) is their first studio album, released in 1987. Before the Power Pop hits, this was a PURE RAW PUNK album recorded in their hometown of Buffalo, NY, mixing covers and originals. It has long been has been out of print and unavailable on vinyl. Eric Carr, who took up the rustic orange persona of “The Fox”, was a fan favorite and remained a member of KISS until his death. Carr’s only solo album, Rockology was completed after his death by fellow KISS member Bruce Kulick. This picture disc vinyl KISS Collector’s Edition, designed and mastered along with Loretta Carr (Eric’s sister) was imagined in the style of the original four KISS solo album, and falls in line with them, featuring Eric in his “Fox” makeup and a 12” x 24” poster in the style of the original releases. Dark Horse Records is proud to reissue Leon RUSSELL’s 1984 album Hank Wilson Vol. II on limited Red Vinyl for Record Store Day Black Friday. The album notably features a duet with Willie Nelson on the country standard “Wabash Cannonball,” plus takes on classics by Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, and Don Gibson. Russell was born in Oklahoma, had a home in Tulsa, and grew up around country and blues music. After making successful rock albums, touring, and releasing the concert album Leon Live, he returned to his roots under the name of a fictional musical personality: Hank Wilson. His second outing under this assumed name, Hank Wilson, Vol. II, was self-produced in 1981 at Leon’s Paradise Studios in Burbank, California.

Recorded during Pearl Jams March 5, 1998 Melbourne Park show during the Australian tour in support of their fifth studio album Yield, the highly sought after Give Way is released on vinyl for the first time. The 17-track album, pressed on double black vinyl and housed in a gatefold sleeve, includes live versions of Given To Fly, Faithfull and Do The Evolution.

The title of this Record Store Day 2023 release, Give Way, is a nod to the Australian counterpart to the United States yield sign.
