Green transparent vinyl & the first vinyl pressing by World Circuit – exclusive to Record Store Day. In the 1970s, Malian guitarist Ali Farka Touré worked as a sound engineer for national Radio Mali and broadcasts of his own performances earned him a formidable local reputation. He sent some recordings to the Sonodisc record company in Paris, resulting in one of the first ever commercial releases of Malian music - a 12" vinyl album titled Ali Toure 'Farka'. Between 1975 and 1988 a total of seven albums were released, all titled only with variations on the artist's name and with no information other than a photo and the song titles. The last two albums released became known as the 'Red' and 'Green' albums due to the colours of their original album sleeves. In the mid-1980s a few copies of these albums found their way to Anne Hunt of World Circuit Records, prompting her to travel to Mali and broadcast an appeal over the airwaves of Radio Mali to find Ali. As luck would have it Ali was visiting the capital Bamako and he heard the broadcast. Thus began Ali's hugely successful international career and his long relationship with the World Circuit label.

Digitally remastered from the original tapes, Ali Farka Touré’s ‘Green’ album showcases Ali's acoustic guitar and vocals, both alone and accompanied by calabash and ngoni (traditional four string guitar). It’s one of many in Ali’s catalogue that demonstrate his continuing importance to African music. A must-have for both fans and collectors alike.

With a host of different producers contributing to these works, Weighing In is a predominantly smooth soul album infused with Al Wilson’s famed gritty soul vocals and an essence of ‘60s rock.

Emerald City Nights: Live At The Penthouse 1966-1968 is the third set of previously unreleased recordings of the iconic pianist Ahmad Jamal, captured live at the Penthouse jazz club in Seattle with bassist Jamil Nasser and drummer Frank Gant. This RSD Black Friday release features a deluxe 2 LP on 180g vinyl in gatefold jacket includes an extensive booklet with rare photos and essays. Also included are interviews with pianists Les McCann, Monty Alexander and Emmet Cohen, plus producer Marshall Chess of Chess/Argo Records and others.

Sonic Boom stretches the epic “Love Reaches Out” across the galaxy, taking APTBS over the event horizon with boundless, infinite energy and pulsar repeat percussion fuzz guitar radiating from every molecule in the solar system.
In Annie Hart’s somber re-imagining of “Nice of You to Be There for Me,” delicate musicbox synths shine like stardust while her sparse production captures Oliver Ackermann’s isolated vocal in soft focus, flickering in headphones like light through a lonely projectionist’s lens.
Wah Together pull “Hold On Tight” onto the dancefloor with an extended acid house remix which transforms APTBS’ breakneck punk-industrial cacophony with looped basslines, buzzing TB-303 synths and near-Nile Rodgers guitar licks while layering enough danceable percussion to coax even the stickiest wallflowers onto the floor.
The dystopian shadow figure Lunacy pours salt in “My Head is Bleeding,” wrapping the song’s existential plea for sanity in ethereal droning electronics and tattered sheets of damp, gauzy reverb, struggling to contain the desperation and hurt.
Grimoose reimagines “Let’s See Each Other” as a rolling, gritty electro two-step, warping the beat with a pulsing synth-bass treatment and a mesmerizing gridwork of interlocking electronic rhythms guaranteed to wake your ass up.
And on their lucid deconstruction of “Love Reaches Out,” psychedelic NYC quintet GIFT take a spiritual journey through the pearly gates of new age 4AD heaven, floating across the speakers on delicate, softly filtered tufts of reverb.

Exclusively for Record Store Day 2023 comes Rare Birds ‘A Flock Of Seagulls’ B-Sides, Edits and Alternate Mixes. Pressed on transparent vinyl with the original A Flock Of Seagulls album sleeve design reworked for this limited edition release; the LP includes b-sides of singles from the original album, including ‘Tanglimara’ (b-side to ‘Telecommunication’), alongside the single ‘(It’s Not Me) Talking’, which never appeared on the original album, and single edits and mixes of their most popular hits including ‘I ran’ and ‘Modern Love Is Automatic’.
