Since forming in 2002, Philadelphia’s Paint IT Black have rewritten the rules of hardcore punk with each new release. Across three full-length albums and three 7” EPs, the fourpiece of vocalist Dan Yemin, bassist Andy Nelson, guitarist Josh Agran, and drummer Jared Shavelson have been crafting concise, incisive statements that meld hardcore’s fury with a nuanced lyrical perspective. On Famine, the band’s upcoming EP on Revelation Records, Paint IT Black shows all sides of itself, returning as inspired—and inspiring—as they were a decade ago. Famine is the product of years of plotting, planning, and prepping, with the goal of making the most impactful statement possible. In many ways, Famine is a record about the blurring between history and mythology, especially as it pertains to the current moment in America. On Famine, Yemin explores the stories we grew up being told—the truths, the lies, and everything in between. Yemin’s vocals, as charged as ever, sound like a decade’s worth of frustration has finally boiled over, allowing him to dissect the rose-colored tellings of American history with surgical precision. Similar to this exploratory lyrical approach, the music on Famine creates richer textures out of pieces rarely found on hardcore punk albums, as distinct struts shift between pummeling pieces and melodic touches in ways that continually take the listener by surprise. Throughout the eight songs that make up Famine, Paint IT Black proves that the most potent hardcore punk releases are ones that come from a space of vulnerability, honesty, and authenticity. It’s what makes each moment on Famine feel vibrant and vital, just like Paint IT Black has always done.

The forthcoming acoustic album Make The Most Of It by NEW Found Glory tackles the last year head-on with their most emotional and cathartic collection of songs to date. Written in the wake of guitarist Chad Gilbert’s cancer diagnosis and mixed by Mark Trombino (blink-182, Jimmy EAT World), Make The Most Of It is a rumination on what it means to grieve, to live, to approach every day with appreciation and a sense of fulfillment. There’s gratitude for the CPR Gilbert’s wife performed on him (“Mouth To Mouth”), for the doctors who got him back on the road in time to celebrate the landmark 20th anniversary of Sticks & Stones (“Get Me Home”), and for life in general - the opportunity to wake up every day in this beautiful, messy, heartbreaking world (“Kiss The Floor”). “Even though the songs are sadder, they’re still hopeful,” Gilbert says. “You hear so much online about mental health and fear and anxiety. I feel proud that we can release an album with joy and honesty in a way that will hopefully make people less fearful of life. A lot of times we punish ourselves for things that might never happen. I’m going through something that did happen, but doing it with hope and joy and a greater appreciation.” Gilbert and his bandmates - vocalist Jordan Pundik, bassist Ian Grushka, and drummer Cyrus Bolooki - are all husbands and fathers, and as elder statesmen of the pop-punk genre (though still able to incite a circle pit with ease), Make The Most Of It finds the quartet contemplating the future, what they hope their loved ones will hang on to and how they’ll be remembered. It’s all there on “Watch The Lilies Grow,” the record’s centerpiece dedicated to Gilbert’s daughter, Lily, and the most poignant NEW Found Glory song ever.

There is no doubt Warzone is one of the most crucial and influential bands coming from the New York Hardcore scene. Fronted by the charismatic Ray “Raybeez” Barbieri, Warzone preached vehemently for scene unity and against racism while buzzsaw guitar riffs and wailing solos over speedy drums churned out a soundtrack found at Cbgb Sunday Matinees, The Pyramid, The Anthrax and the rest of the legendary clubs of the era. Their landmark debut LP Don’t Forget The Struggle, Don’t Forget The Streets is heralded as one of the most important Nyhc records of all time, with its 2016 reissue on Revelation Records selling thousands of copies and filling gaps in record collections all over the world. Two years later, Revelation Records proudly presents the reissue of Warzone’s second LP Open Your Eyes. This oft-overlooked record continues the sound from Don’t Forget The Struggle,... the last purely hardcore record before the band’s more metal third LP. This record featured Jerry Williams behind the board who was previously known for his work with Bad Brains, The Beastie Boys, and Reagan Youth among others, with production help from none other than Dr. Know, guitarist of Bad Brains!

Planet ON A Chain or P.O.A.C. are hardcore lifers. People who never stopped feeling the angst and rage associated with hardcore, who never stopped trying to push themselves musically, who never stopped paying attention to the current sounds and styles, who don’t make music based on past glory, who still contribute to today’s hardcore culture without asserting that things were better in their day. The four members of P.O.A.C. are familiar faces. Vocalist Dave Ackerman fronting early ‘00s Tear IT UP, a sparkplug of a band from New Jersey whose shows were always one click away from devolving into complete anarchy, and the other three from Oakland, CA’s Look Back AND Laugh, arguably the best live band of their generation, a whirlwind of screaming guitars, drum rolls, long hair, and dreadlocks, all on one stage. In their short history, P.O.A.C. recorded demos in their practice space, which were released on respected independent labels Blind Rage Records and a second on 625 Records/To Live A Lie Records. Revelation Records is set to release the band’s debut LP in early 2023, a heavy dose of fast, biting, hardcore punk that pulls influences from the members’ previous projects and created a final product that lands the band perfectly in line with other recent Revelation Records Bay Area fam Tørsö and Urban Sprawl. Boxed In Is the band’s first full-length and is a scorching hardcore blast delivered the way the founders of the genre intended: fast, raw, angry, and decidedly punk.

After half a decade of not releasing new music, Orange County, CA’s most notorious melodic hardcore force, Ignite, is ready to get back to work with their new vocalist Eli Santana up front. “It’s a new chapter for Ignite,” reaffirms bassist Brett Rasmussen. “But there’s a lot of looking back to some of our earliest records like Call on My Brothers and having the same feeling writing these songs with a new singer.” In these Southern California stalwarts’ minds, the more things change, the more they stay the same. “This is what we love doing— as it was in 1993 and as it is now.” Rasmussen states of the recording process, “The energy and positivity that Eli brought to the recording studio was contagious! It was an absolute breath of fresh air for all of us and reminded me of the early days of Ignite. I really can’t wait to take these songs on tour.” Anti-Complicity Anthem includes the incredible title track and the B-side, “Turn Xxi” exclusive to this 7” vinyl and digital format.

This recreation of the Turning Point self-titled 7” from 1989 is the second release as Revelation Records reissues the band’s out-of-print catalog. From New Jersey, Turning Point were the state’s answer to the hardcore movement of New York and Connecticut of the late-’80s, playing up and down the East Coast with Chain OF Strength, Bold, Judge, Burn, Mouthpiece, and many more before disbanding in 1991. Jade Tree and Think Fast! Records released the band’s catalog as a discography in the early 2000s so none of the releases have been issued as stand-alone records since they were first put out.

The story of Tørsö starts on the Punch tour with Italy’s Holy in 2013. Punch guitarist Keith and Holy drummer Giacomo put together a transcontinental powerhouse adding bassist Jasmine of NEO Cons and Everybody ROW (among many others) and vocalist Ethan of Ritual Control. After three releases that were both self-released and on renowned punk labels like Sorry State Records, Agipunk and Adagio830, Giacomo moved to the United States and Tørsö hit some crucial hardcore festivals like Sound And Fury in Los Angeles, Damaged City Fest in D.C. and Not Dead Yet in Toronto as well as tours of the coasts with American Nightmare and Fireburn. Tørsö is armed with a powerful punk and hardcore sound with influences as geographically diverse as its members. One can hear the D-beating drums of Discharge, the all-out speed attack of Swedish crust legends Totalitär, and the stomping breaks of late-’80s N.Y.H.C. Lyrically, Tørsö does not rely on any of the hardcore clichés or spew overly simplistic lyrics that carry no real meaning. Instead, the band tackles issues of veganism, politics, mental health, displacement, and feminism at a time when the world needs it the most.

The debut, self-titled release from New York City’s Quicksand came out in 1990 and is the 18th release from Revelation Records. It includes four songs including an instrumental entitled “Hypno Jam With Dan”. Frontman/ guitarist Walter Schreifels, the main creative force behind Gorilla Biscuits and bassist for Youth OF Today, assembled the band’s lineup from his dissolved project called Moondog. Guitarist Tom Capone had founded Long Island’s Beyond, and had previously played in Bold, writing their album Looking Back. Drummer Alan Cage had been in Burn and played with Capone in Beyond. Bassist Sergio Vega arrived from the short-lived Collapse and a later incarnation of Absolution. This release ignited the post-hardcore movement and sparked a new scene with new sounds.

Recorded in the same session as the four songs that came out as the Build And Break 7” on Revelation Records, these three tracks were intended for an ill-fated split but are now being released on their own. Drawn up by some of the most unsavory souls in the Boston, MA underground hardcore scene and reinforced by members who have done time in infamous area bands like Mind Eraser, Righteous Jams, Mental, Xfilesx and many others, THE Rival MOB have become the darlings of the current hardcore scene, inspiring shameless violence and playing high on the bill at the most important hardcore festivals in America; This Is Hardcore in Philadelphia, Sound And Fury in California, and Chaos in Tejas in Austin, TX. In between serving time with their current other projects World WAR 4, Give, NO Tolerance, and Boston Strangler, the band will be playing on both coasts highlighted once again by the big summer festivals as well as their first-ever trip across the Atlantic to Europe. The band’s Revelation Records debut picks up right where their previous EP, Hardcore For Hardcore, left off, with vocalist Brendan Radigan spewing venom at the ills that plague both the outside world and the scene itself, all delivered over fast, stage dive-inspiring hardcore that brings to mind the best of mid-to-late ’80s New York hardcore bands like Youth OF Today, Warzone, and Breakdown.

Before they were called Bold, this K-Town mosh crew were originally known as Crippled Youth. Join The Fight was their debut EP as well as the first release for up-and-coming West Coast hardcore label New Beginning Records (underdog, Halfoff, P.H.C.), recorded in late 1985 and released in 1986. With song topics covering the positivity of their scene, being straight edge, and friends sticking together, this record was the catalyst for a thousand sing-alongs.

Stockholm, Sweden’s Speedway is the offshoot of Time TO Heal, an older band that Jens (bass), Gabriel (drums), and Anton (vocals) were once in. When that band split, Anton and Gabriel spent time living in Japan writing music for what became Speedway. Members have also spent time in bands Existence, Blood Sermon, and Lifeblind before going all in on Speedway. Their latest EP,Paradise includes three high-energy tracks entitled “Balance,” “Hands Of Time,” and title track, “Paradise.” The band channels the passionate energy that made Revelation Records what it once was back in the ’80s, but with a slightly more melodic flare akin to bands like Turning Point, Inside OUT, and Uniform Choice.

For decades, the upper Midwest of the United States has been a hotspot for hardcore bands that bend genres and refuse to stick to tired formulas, producing acts like Husker DÜ and DIE Kreuzen. Milwaukee’s BIG Laugh are here to continue that tradition, with a sound that finds them as much at home playing DIY shows in dingy basements as playing large clubs alongside some of hardcore and punk’s luminaries

Scott Freeman lends his trademark vocals that have been compared favorably to Lifetime vocalist Ari Katz, with a unique note of political and personal thought, moving in directions not often aimed for by such tuneful bands. It’s rare for a record to have the charisma that 2006’s Facetious Folly Feat does, but even rarer when a record defines the aggression, heart and passion of hardcore music without trodding on beaten trails. With this effort, the Shook Ones show they are more than capable of sharing their passions and pains with the world, and most importantly, doing it in their own way.

From the very beginning, Turning Point was unique and not what you’d expect from a hardcore band. They expanded on the sounds of bands like Youth OF Today and Chain OF Strength, and brought in more melody while taking inspiration from 7 Seconds to push more emotion in their lyrics. Their impact was immediate. Originally released in 1990 on hardcore powerhouse NEW AGE Records, It’s Always Darkest… Before The Dawn, would be Turning Point’s only full-length. While the band only existed for a very short time, over 30 years later, its influence is still being felt. Revelation Records is proud to bring back It’s Always Darkest… in its original, stand-alone form as the third installment of reissuing the band’s out-of-print catalog

For decades, the upper Midwest of the United States has been a hotspot for hardcore bands that bend genres and refuse to stick to tired formulas, producing acts like Hüsker DÜ and DIE Kreuzen. Milwaukee’s BIG Laugh is here to continue that tradition, with a sound that finds them as much at home playing DIY shows in dingy basements as playing large clubs alongside some of hardcore and punk’s luminaries. Self-described “punks who listen to JUDGE,” BIG Laugh works in a wide array of influences—from the blazing speed and harsh noises of Japanese rippers like Gauze and Bastard to the mosh-ready impact of Nyhc bands like Burn and Alone IN A CROWD—and even some melodic sensibilities akin to the aforementioned Hüsker DÜ. The album’s lyrics hit close to home for the band, holding personal notions while still feeling outwardly relatable. Focused on building their own lane, BIG Laugh is not afraid of the work it takes to make the masses take notice. Booking their own tours, they have played alongside bands like Revelation Records labelmates Tørsö and Urban Sprawl, as well as GEL, SPY, NO Pressure, and appeared at 2022’s massive Sound And Fury Fest in LA that drew more than 5,000 people. Manic Revision is the debut EP from BIG Laugh, following up a highly-acclaimed demo and went through three pressings on the DIY label 11pm Records before going out of press. This new version has updated artwork and audio and is the first time it has been available in nearly two years

Beyond, though short lived in the Nyhc scene (1988–1989), made an impact with their personal brand of Long Island metaltinged hardcore with intricate riffage. The Dew It! demo was supposed to be recorded for Schism but the label folded before it got off the ground. They sold their demos through Some Records on the Lower East Side until the store closed and the rest were sold through mailorder. Originally recorded on a 1” tape and mixed on cassette, Dew It! has been remixed to give it the sound that was previously intended. Backed with the demo is Beyond’s live set on WYNU’s legendary punk and hardcore radio show, “Crucial Chaos,” which was started in the late ’80s and still continues to this day, nearly 25 years later. Members of Beyond have gone on to bands like Quicksand, Bold, Inside OUT, Burn, Shelter, 108, and more. Revelation Records has combined these two gems on vinyl and paired it with a 20 page 12” x 12” booklet.

In 2013, Kingston, PA’s Title Fight made their Revelation Records debut with the four new tracks on this 7” EP release entitled Spring Songs. The record, which was produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Will Yip at Studio 4, showed the unyielding potential of a band that had been hard at work writing and touring for their first four years. Spring Songs showed the band pushing their boundaries even further and, once again, refusing to be categorized.

To most fans of hardcore, Judge is a band that needs no introduction. Judge took the ideals and positive goals of Youth OF Today and infused them with beefy guitar licks, introspective lyrics, and a hefty influx of New York style. The Bringin’ It Down full-length took Judge to an entirely different level. Funneling the energy of New York Crew through crunching guitars that had never been applied to their powerful brand of hardcore was an enormous shift. As abruptly as Judge had burst onto the scene, in 1991 they played a now infamous “final” show in Florida. Then, in May of 2013, Judge reunited in their hometown of NYC as headliners for the Black ‘n’ Blue Bowl. In 2015, they were the subject of a four-part series on Vice’s music blog, Noisey.com, titled There Will Be Quiet - The Story Of Judge, which has since premiered as a feature-length documentary.

Elliott’s debut full-length, U.S. Songs, came with a lot of hype in the independent music scene, as their previous single had garnered much positive press. Aggressive guitars storm out of the gates with the track “Miracle,” and for the rest of the album the band never lets up. For people wanting to understand indie rock music, Elliott is a worthy point of entry, encompassing emotional heights and depths along with the tight musicianship that is expected from a genre known for wearing its heart on its sleeve.

Song In The Air is Elliott’s third fulllength album. But for all of its beauty, energy, and human spirit, Song In The Air is not Elliott’s moment of finding “the answer.” What we have is a record that shows us the value of the moment of asking the question...of looking at a thing and figuring on it. Elliott’s songs glow, spiral around, get messed up, come back home, get really sad, get worked up, fight against melancholy, are pissed off... they are “alive.” Song In The Air is the first record that Elliott made with the addition of Benny Clark on guitar and Jason Skaggs on bass.

In Louisville, Kentucky, four friends decided that they wanted to do something decidedly different from their previous bands. After forming in 1995, Elliott put out a 7” and began touring. In a short time the band had a loyal following, a new drummer, and a deal with Revelation Records. Elliott’s debut full-length, U.S. Songs, was released in June of 1998 to critical acclaim while winning the hearts of the independent music world. After a year and a half of touring and songwriting, the band found themselves in Los Angels recording False Cathedrals with accomplished producer/ engineer Toby Miller (wallflowers, Korn, Fiona Apple). Far surpassing and all but abandoning their post-hardcore roots, Elliott created a sophisticated and elegant rock album of epic proportions. False Cathedrals is the crown jewel of Elliott’s achievements.

Led by the influential and charismatic Ray “Raybeez” Barbieri, Warzone entered the studio in 1987 and produced Don’t Forget The Struggle, Don’t Forget The Streets which went on to achieve legendary status. Often imitated but never duplicated, Warzone had a sound unique to the Nyhc scene. Coupled with vocalist Raybeez’ uplifting and often incisive lyrics, Warzone’s sound influenced generations of bands and kids across the world. Considered by many to be “true” metal-core, Shai Hulud has been one of the most influential bands within the genre since their inception in 1995. After multiple full-lengths, EPs, collected works and various member changes, Shai Hulud is still touring the world with legions of fans supporting them. That Within Blood Ill-Tempered is a testament of heart, passion, and sincerity. Musically, Shai Hulud has maintained the sound they initially re-invented— an angered and melodic, multi-layered blend of beauty and aggression. A Profound Hatred Of Man demonstrated a technical hardcore style that influenced the entire metalcore scene and broke through lyrical theme barriers. Hearts Once Nourished With Hope And Compassion displays some of the most honest and darkest thoughts of Shai Hulud’s career. From the opening guitar chord of “Solely Concentrating On The Negative Aspects Of Life,” it only gets uglier and more real with each track.

Reno, NV, hardcore legends Fall Silent return with the full-length You Knew I Was Poison. Founding members Danny Galecki, Damon Watson, and Levi Watson join bass player Joe Foley to bring you more aggressive “fastcore” that you have come to expect from this outfit. From 1994–2017, Fall Silent released three full-lengths; No Strength To Suffer (1996), Superstructure (1999), and Drunken Violence (2002), three EPs; Never Forget... (1995), Nineteenhundredninetyseven (1997), Life: Beautiful, But Heartless (2000), a split with Wellington (1995) and Six Years In The Desert (2001), which was a re-mastered collection of No Strength To Suffer, Nineteenhundredninetyseven and Life: Beautiful, But Heartless all on one CD. Most recently, their Cart Return 7” EP was released in 2017. Their not-so-subtle brand of metal tinged hardcore is what put them on the aggressive music map. Fall Silent effectively captured the sound of the ’80s fast punk and hardcore of their skater skeeno youth and blended it with the blazing riffage of early-’90s death metal. It’s no wonder that their live shows brought together fans of hardcore, punk, and metal, chanting the lyrics to their favorite tracks. You Knew I Was Poison brings Fall Silent full circle. These tracks continue where the band last left us—with lyrical content that rakes today’s world over the coals in
