Spaced live up to their name, blending hardcore with out-of-this-world sounds to create an explosive and hallucinogenic landscape. Originally formed in 2019, the Buffalo, NY-based band would burst onto the scene in 2021 with their four-song demo, followed by the 2022 compilation Spaced Jams and a split single in 2023, both on New Morality Zine. On This Is All We Ever Get, the band pulls from a wide range of influences while still staying centered around individuality. Working with Jay Zubricky (mindforce, Terror) at GCR Audio in Buffalo, NY, Spaced knocked out recording over a few days in May 2023 and sent the album off for mastering with Will Killingsworth (orchid) at Dead Air Studios. The eight tracks on This Is All We Ever Get are enthralling and dynamic, with the longest run time hitting two minutes and thirty seconds. Opener “Landslide” leads with a huge bounce, as vocalist Lexi Reyngoudt’s shouty approach drives off the band’s circling rhythms primed for side-to-side mosh. Spaced has quickly become one of the buzziest bands in the genre thanks to their blend of “farout hardcore,” garnering praise from press including BrooklynVegan, Stereogum, and Revolver. The band has been able to take their high-energy live show across North America and Europe, performing alongside bands like THE Armed, Snapcase, GEL, and SPY. With heavy touring plans already on the docket for 2024 including a US run supporting Militarie GUN, Spaced is continuing to assert themselves as a must-see live act. Ringing true to the title of This Is All We Ever Get, Spaced is set to hit the ground running on their own terms to make 2024 their year. The band stresses, “We want to continue to express the importance of being ourselves and tell the listener to either get with it or get out.”

Gorilla Biscuits' "Start Today" is one of the most influential records in hardcore. Hailing from NYC, Gorilla Biscuits carved a niche within the NY hardcore scene. Blending the aggression and energy of bands like Agnostic Front with a sense of melody likened to Dag Nasty, Gorilla Biscuits still stands as a unique reference point for many hardcore bands that have come after them.

Youth OF Today was initially active from 1985 to 1990 before reforming in 2010. The band played a major role in establishing the “youth-crew” subculture of hardcore, both espousing and evolving the philosophies of the straight-edge and vegetarian lifestyles. Formed in Danbury, Connecticut, by two members of the hardcore band Violent Children, Ray Cappo (vocals) and John Porcelly (aka Porcell, guitar) were aiming to start a straight-edge band at a time when most old school straight-edge bands had disbanded. Having difficulty finding a bassist and drummer, Ray and Porcell found help from two high-school friends, Graham Phillips and Darren Pesce, who had played with Porcell in a band called THE Young Republicans in the past. At the end of 1987, Sammy Siegler (ex-SIDE BY Side) became the new drummer and in 1988, Youth OF Today recorded their classic second LP, We’re Not In This Alone. The songs were born from the band’s dedication to straight edge, positive living, and the strength of the both the individual and of a generation. Full of energy and inspiration, this record was an essential step in the development of hardcore.

In 1990, Judge had a new song entitled “Forget This Time” and there was a desire to record it and get it out into the wild. Additionally, the band had been touring and made some improvements to some of their existing songs; one standout was “The Storm,” which now had a breakdown in the middle that didn’t exist in the previous versions. Mike was excited about covering “When The Levee Breaks” (which was a bonus track on the Cdep, now a streaming bonus track) and the idea of his local buddy Todd Schwartz doing the harmonica solo. With these three songs the guys headed to Don Fury’s studio on Spring Street to record what became “The Storm” EP. One day Mike showed up on his Harley and the idea came about to run a microphone cable out into the street to record it rev, which you can hear on this version of “The Storm.”

First released in 1989, the self-titled EP from Bold features four tracks, which at the time were a new direction for the band. Adding Tom Capone (quicksand/ Beyond) on guitar, the band’s sound evolved away from the traditional Youth Crew anthems heard on Speak Out, as did many of their peers in the scene at that time who were also exploring and pushing their boundaries musically. Recorded in February/March ’89 at Baby Monster Studios, NYC.

In 2013, Kingston, PA’s Title Fight made their Revelation Records debut with the four new tracks on this 7” EP release entitled Spring Songs. The record, which was produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Will Yip at Studio 4, showed the unyielding potential of a band that had been hard at work writing and touring for their first four years. Spring Songs showed the band pushing their boundaries even further and, once again, refusing to be categorized.

Ignite, who’ve been making music together since the band’s formation in 1993, are a successful international act with a diehard global following. They’ve got a proven, rabid fan base that populates over 40 countries. People go crazy for Ignite all over Europe, Australia, South America, and in their native US. Put simply, Ignite inspires. The spirited California based five-piece has waved a blindingly brilliant hardcore torch for nearly 20 years, with the aggressive music that it plays and the awareness it creates by supporting organizations that defend the environment like Doctors Without Borders, Habitat For Humanity, Sea Shepherds, Pelican Rescue Team, and Earth First. But the OC crew does not just spout rhetoric. It has played countless benefit shows and has pressed limited, live 7 inches and CDs, the proceeds of which were donated to these groups. “Every penny donated doesn’t go to a CEO somewhere but directly to the boats or the people out in the wilderness,” says vocalist Zoli Teglas. Their music is catchy, well-written, and timeless enough to seep into your brain, your blood, and your heart; these songs will stay with you forever. In today’s overpopulated rock music scene, standing out and making yourself memorable are essential survival tools. Ignite has mastered the art of memorable melodies without sacrificing an ounce of intensity, aggression, or heart.

A lot has happened in the year since Revelation Records released Planet ON A Chain’s debut LP, Boxed In. The band added second guitar player Al Blotto from Acts OF Sedition, THE Blottos, Mutilated Tongue, and Screaming Fist, played a string of shows in California with Gorilla Biscuits and Urban Sprawl, and on the East Coast with Dropdead, released an LP on Revelation of re-recorded demo songs, and somehow became faster, tighter, and more P.O.A.C. than ever before. For the uninitiated, Planet ON A Chain, or P.O.A.C. for the sake of brevity, is the confluence of members of some of the underground’s most dynamic and explosive bands going back to the late ’90s. Vocalist Dave Ackerman fronted New Jersey’s Tear IT UP and Dead Nation, while being backed by members of Bay Area, CA, vets from bands like Dead AND Gone, Punch, Look Back AND Laugh, Talk IS Poison, and many, many more. The output is fast, raw, hardcore punk that welcomes freaks of all walks of life. This is hardcore music played by true lifers who never dropped out and returned only to relive past glory, who have continued to push their own creativity and capabilities for multiple decades. This is hardcore music with no tough pose or violence for the sake of violence. This is hardcore music delivered in the early scene’s spirit of playing punk music as fast as humanly possible but with eyes kept firmly on the present and future.

Since forming in 2002, Philadelphia’s Paint IT Black have rewritten the rules of hardcore punk with each new release. Across three full-length albums and three 7” EPs, the fourpiece of vocalist Dan Yemin, bassist Andy Nelson, guitarist Josh Agran, and drummer Jared Shavelson have been crafting concise, incisive statements that meld hardcore’s fury with a nuanced lyrical perspective. On Famine, the band’s upcoming EP on Revelation Records, Paint IT Black shows all sides of itself, returning as inspired—and inspiring—as they were a decade ago. Famine is the product of years of plotting, planning, and prepping, with the goal of making the most impactful statement possible. In many ways, Famine is a record about the blurring between history and mythology, especially as it pertains to the current moment in America. On Famine, Yemin explores the stories we grew up being told—the truths, the lies, and everything in between. Yemin’s vocals, as charged as ever, sound like a decade’s worth of frustration has finally boiled over, allowing him to dissect the rose-colored tellings of American history with surgical precision. Similar to this exploratory lyrical approach, the music on Famine creates richer textures out of pieces rarely found on hardcore punk albums, as distinct struts shift between pummeling pieces and melodic touches in ways that continually take the listener by surprise. Throughout the eight songs that make up Famine, Paint IT Black proves that the most potent hardcore punk releases are ones that come from a space of vulnerability, honesty, and authenticity. It’s what makes each moment on Famine feel vibrant and vital, just like Paint IT Black has always done.

Drawn up by some of the most unsavory souls in the Boston, MA underground hardcore scene and reinforced by members who have done time in infamous area bands like Mind Eraser, Righteous Jams, Mental, Xfilesx and many others, THE Rival MOB have become the darlings of the current hardcore scene, inspiring shameless violence and playing high on the bill at the most important hardcore festivals in America; This Is Hardcore in Philadelphia, Sound And Fury in California, and Chaos in Tejas in Austin, TX. In between serving time with their current other projects World WAR 4, Give, NO Tolerance, and Boston Strangler, the band will be playing on both coasts highlighted once again by the big summer festivals as well as their first-ever trip across the Atlantic to Europe. The band’s Revelation Records debut picks up right where their previous EP, Hardcore For Hardcore, left off, with vocalist Brendan Radigan spewing venom at the ills that plague both the outside world and the scene itself, all delivered over fast, stage dive-inspiring hardcore that brings to mind the best of mid-to-late ’80s New York hardcore bands like Youth OF Today, Warzone, and Breakdown.

In Louisville, Kentucky, four friends decided that they wanted to do something decidedly different from their previous bands. After forming in 1995, Elliott put out a 7” and began touring. In a short time the band had a loyal following, a new drummer, and a deal with Revelation Records. Elliott’s debut full-length, U.S. Songs, was released in June of 1998 to critical acclaim while winning the hearts of the independent music world. After a year and a half of touring and songwriting, the band found themselves in Los Angels recording False Cathedrals with accomplished producer/ engineer Toby Miller (wallflowers, Korn, Fiona Apple). Far surpassing and all but abandoning their post-hardcore roots, Elliott created a sophisticated and elegant rock album of epic proportions. False Cathedrals is the crown jewel of Elliott’s achievements.

Elliott’s debut full-length, U.S. Songs, came with a lot of hype in the independent music scene, as their previous single had garnered much positive press. Aggressive guitars storm out of the gates with the track “Miracle,” and for the rest of the album the band never lets up. For people wanting to understand indie rock music, Elliott is a worthy point of entry, encompassing emotional heights and depths along with the tight musicianship that is expected from a genre known for wearing its heart on its sleeve.

Considered by many to be “true” metal-core, Shai Hulud has been one of the most influential bands within the genre since their inception in 1995. After multiple full-lengths, EPs, collected works and various member changes, Shai Hulud is still touring the world with legions of fans supporting them. That Within Blood Ill-Tempered is a testament of heart, passion, and sincerity. Musically, Shai Hulud has maintained the sound they initially re-invented— an angered and melodic, multi-layered blend of beauty and aggression. A Profound Hatred Of Man demonstrated a technical hardcore style that influenced the entire metalcore scene and broke through lyrical theme barriers. Hearts Once Nourished With Hope And Compassion displays some of the most honest and darkest thoughts of Shai Hulud’s career. From the opening guitar chord of “Solely Concentrating On The Negative Aspects Of Life,” it only gets uglier and more real with each track.

After half a decade of not releasing new music, Orange County, CA’s most notorious melodic hardcore force, Ignite, is ready to get back to work with their new vocalist Eli Santana up front. “It’s a new chapter for Ignite,” reaffirms bassist Brett Rasmussen. “But there’s a lot of looking back to some of our earliest records like Call on My Brothers and having the same feeling writing these songs with a new singer.” In these Southern California stalwarts’ minds, the more things change, the more they stay the same. “This is what we love doing— as it was in 1993 and as it is now.” Rasmussen states of the recording process, “The energy and positivity that Eli brought to the recording studio was contagious! It was an absolute breath of fresh air for all of us and reminded me of the early days of Ignite. I really can’t wait to take these songs on tour.” Anti-Complicity Anthem includes the incredible title track and the B-side, “Turn Xxi” exclusive to this 7” vinyl and digital format.

The story of Tørsö starts on the Punch tour with Italy’s Holy in 2013. Punch guitarist Keith and Holy drummer Giacomo put together a transcontinental powerhouse adding bassist Jasmine of NEO Cons and Everybody ROW (among many others) and vocalist Ethan of Ritual Control. After three releases that were both self-released and on renowned punk labels like Sorry State Records, Agipunk and Adagio830, Giacomo moved to the United States and Tørsö hit some crucial hardcore festivals like Sound And Fury in Los Angeles, Damaged City Fest in D.C. and Not Dead Yet in Toronto as well as tours of the coasts with American Nightmare and Fireburn. Tørsö is armed with a powerful punk and hardcore sound with influences as geographically diverse as its members. One can hear the D-beating drums of Discharge, the all-out speed attack of Swedish crust legends Totalitär, and the stomping breaks of late-’80s N.Y.H.C. Lyrically, Tørsö does not rely on any of the hardcore clichés or spew overly simplistic lyrics that carry no real meaning. Instead, the band tackles issues of veganism, politics, mental health, displacement, and feminism at a time when the world needs it the most.

The debut, self-titled release from New York City’s Quicksand came out in 1990 and is the 18th release from Revelation Records. It includes four songs including an instrumental entitled “Hypno Jam With Dan”. Frontman/ guitarist Walter Schreifels, the main creative force behind Gorilla Biscuits and bassist for Youth OF Today, assembled the band’s lineup from his dissolved project called Moondog. Guitarist Tom Capone had founded Long Island’s Beyond, and had previously played in Bold, writing their album Looking Back. Drummer Alan Cage had been in Burn and played with Capone in Beyond. Bassist Sergio Vega arrived from the short-lived Collapse and a later incarnation of Absolution. This release ignited the post-hardcore movement and sparked a new scene with new sounds.

Now available again on cassette.

Recorded in the same session as the four songs that came out as the Build And Break 7” on Revelation Records, these three tracks were intended for an ill-fated split but are now being released on their own. Two of the tracks are Tørsö originals, delivered in the same mean, d-beating dirty hardcore-punk style as Build And Break and their classic Sono Prona A Morire LP on Sorry State Records.

Farside was a melodic punk band from Orange County, CA, founded in 1989. Their sound was a mixture of the late ’80s post-hardcore (dagnasty, Hüsker DÜ and THE Descendents were big influences), ’90s alternative metal (helmet, Quicksand), and the power-pop sensibilities of the late ’70s (Elvis Costello), and as a result the band never quite fit in on any bill they were booked to play. This resulted in the band never being completely definable, which suited the members just fine. Many current bands have cited Farside as an influence, and it’s clear that their music left a lasting impression on their dedicated and loyal fan base. The Monroe Doctrine, the band’s final album, is the culmination of ten years of progression for the band and reflects their diverse mixture of punk, post-punk, indie, and pop melodies.

Youth OF Today was initially active from 1985 to 1990 before reforming in 2010. The band played a major role in establishing the “youth-crew” subculture of hardcore, both espousing and evolving the philosophies of the straight-edge and vegetarian lifestyles. Formed in Danbury, Connecticut, by two members of the hardcore band Violent Children, Ray Cappo (vocals) and John Porcelly (aka Porcell, guitar) were aiming to start a straight-edge band at a time when most old-school straight-edge bands had disbanded. Having difficulty finding a bassist and drummer, Ray and Porcell found help from two high-school friends, Graham Phillips and Darren Pesce, who had played with Porcell in a band called THE Young Republicans in the past. In 1986, Underdog vocalist Richie Birkenhead joined the band on second guitar. With this lineup, the first Youth OF Today full-length album was recorded, Break Down The Walls. More than just an album, it’s an anthem for a way of life.

Stockholm, Sweden’s Speedway is the offshoot of Time TO Heal, an older band that Jens (bass), Gabriel (drums), and Anton (vocals) were once in. When that band split, Anton and Gabriel spent time living in Japan writing music for what became Speedway. Members have also spent time in bands Existence, Blood Sermon, and Lifeblind before going all in on Speedway. Their latest EP,Paradise includes three high-energy tracks entitled “Balance,” “Hands Of Time,” and title track, “Paradise.” The band channels the passionate energy that made Revelation Records what it once was back in the ’80s, but with a slightly more melodic flare akin to bands like Turning Point, Inside OUT, and Uniform Choice.

Scott Freeman lends his trademark vocals that have been compared favorably to Lifetime vocalist Ari Katz, with a unique note of political and personal thought, moving in directions not often aimed for by such tuneful bands. It’s rare for a record to have the charisma that 2006’s Facetious Folly Feat does, but even rarer when a record defines the aggression, heart and passion of hardcore music without trodding on beaten trails. With this effort, the Shook Ones show they are more than capable of sharing their passions and pains with the world, and most importantly, doing it in their own way.

From the very beginning, Turning Point was unique and not what you’d expect from a hardcore band. They expanded on the sounds of bands like Youth OF Today and Chain OF Strength, and brought in more melody while taking inspiration from 7 Seconds to push more emotion in their lyrics. Their impact was immediate. Originally released in 1990 on hardcore powerhouse NEW AGE Records, It’s Always Darkest… Before The Dawn, would be Turning Point’s only full-length. While the band only existed for a very short time, over 30 years later, its influence is still being felt. Revelation Records is proud to bring back It’s Always Darkest… in its original, stand-alone form as the third installment of reissuing the band’s out-of-print catalog

For decades, the upper Midwest of the United States has been a hotspot for hardcore bands that bend genres and refuse to stick to tired formulas, producing acts like Hüsker DÜ and DIE Kreuzen. Milwaukee’s BIG Laugh is here to continue that tradition, with a sound that finds them as much at home playing DIY shows in dingy basements as playing large clubs alongside some of hardcore and punk’s luminaries. Self-described “punks who listen to JUDGE,” BIG Laugh works in a wide array of influences—from the blazing speed and harsh noises of Japanese rippers like Gauze and Bastard to the mosh-ready impact of Nyhc bands like Burn and Alone IN A CROWD—and even some melodic sensibilities akin to the aforementioned Hüsker DÜ. The album’s lyrics hit close to home for the band, holding personal notions while still feeling outwardly relatable. Focused on building their own lane, BIG Laugh is not afraid of the work it takes to make the masses take notice. Booking their own tours, they have played alongside bands like Revelation Records labelmates Tørsö and Urban Sprawl, as well as GEL, SPY, NO Pressure, and appeared at 2022’s massive Sound And Fury Fest in LA that drew more than 5,000 people. Manic Revision is the debut EP from BIG Laugh, following up a highly-acclaimed demo and went through three pressings on the DIY label 11pm Records before going out of press. This new version has updated artwork and audio and is the first time it has been available in nearly two years

Beyond, though short lived in the Nyhc scene (1988–1989), made an impact with their personal brand of Long Island metaltinged hardcore with intricate riffage. The Dew It! demo was supposed to be recorded for Schism but the label folded before it got off the ground. They sold their demos through Some Records on the Lower East Side until the store closed and the rest were sold through mailorder. Originally recorded on a 1” tape and mixed on cassette, Dew It! has been remixed to give it the sound that was previously intended. Backed with the demo is Beyond’s live set on WYNU’s legendary punk and hardcore radio show, “Crucial Chaos,” which was started in the late ’80s and still continues to this day, nearly 25 years later. Members of Beyond have gone on to bands like Quicksand, Bold, Inside OUT, Burn, Shelter, 108, and more. Revelation Records has combined these two gems on vinyl and paired it with a 20 page 12” x 12” booklet.

The forthcoming acoustic album Make The Most Of It by NEW Found Glory tackles the last year head-on with their most emotional and cathartic collection of songs to date. Written in the wake of guitarist Chad Gilbert’s cancer diagnosis and mixed by Mark Trombino (blink-182, Jimmy EAT World), Make The Most Of It is a rumination on what it means to grieve, to live, to approach every day with appreciation and a sense of fulfillment. There’s gratitude for the CPR Gilbert’s wife performed on him (“Mouth To Mouth”), for the doctors who got him back on the road in time to celebrate the landmark 20th anniversary of Sticks & Stones (“Get Me Home”), and for life in general - the opportunity to wake up every day in this beautiful, messy, heartbreaking world (“Kiss The Floor”). “Even though the songs are sadder, they’re still hopeful,” Gilbert says. “You hear so much online about mental health and fear and anxiety. I feel proud that we can release an album with joy and honesty in a way that will hopefully make people less fearful of life. A lot of times we punish ourselves for things that might never happen. I’m going through something that did happen, but doing it with hope and joy and a greater appreciation.” Gilbert and his bandmates - vocalist Jordan Pundik, bassist Ian Grushka, and drummer Cyrus Bolooki - are all husbands and fathers, and as elder statesmen of the pop-punk genre (though still able to incite a circle pit with ease), Make The Most Of It finds the quartet contemplating the future, what they hope their loved ones will hang on to and how they’ll be remembered. It’s all there on “Watch The Lilies Grow,” the record’s centerpiece dedicated to Gilbert’s daughter, Lily, and the most poignant NEW Found Glory song ever.

To most fans of hardcore, Judge is a band that needs no introduction. Judge took the ideals and positive goals of Youth OF Today and infused them with beefy guitar licks, introspective lyrics, and a hefty influx of New York style. The Bringin’ It Down full-length took Judge to an entirely different level. Funneling the energy of New York Crew through crunching guitars that had never been applied to their powerful brand of hardcore was an enormous shift. As abruptly as Judge had burst onto the scene, in 1991 they played a now infamous “final” show in Florida. Then, in May of 2013, Judge reunited in their hometown of NYC as headliners for the Black ‘n’ Blue Bowl. In 2015, they were the subject of a four-part series on Vice’s music blog, Noisey.com, titled There Will Be Quiet - The Story Of Judge, which has since premiered as a feature-length documentary.

Song In The Air is Elliott’s third fulllength album. But for all of its beauty, energy, and human spirit, Song In The Air is not Elliott’s moment of finding “the answer.” What we have is a record that shows us the value of the moment of asking the question...of looking at a thing and figuring on it. Elliott’s songs glow, spiral around, get messed up, come back home, get really sad, get worked up, fight against melancholy, are pissed off... they are “alive.” Song In The Air is the first record that Elliott made with the addition of Benny Clark on guitar and Jason Skaggs on bass.

Often imitated but never duplicated, Warzone had a sound unique to the Nyhc scene. Coupled with vocalist Raybeez’ uplifting and often incisive lyrics, Warzone’s sound influenced generations of bands and kids across the world.

Reno, NV, hardcore legends Fall Silent return with the full-length You Knew I Was Poison. Founding members Danny Galecki, Damon Watson, and Levi Watson join bass player Joe Foley to bring you more aggressive “fastcore” that you have come to expect from this outfit. From 1994–2017, Fall Silent released three full-lengths; No Strength To Suffer (1996), Superstructure (1999), and Drunken Violence (2002), three EPs; Never Forget... (1995), Nineteenhundredninetyseven (1997), Life: Beautiful, But Heartless (2000), a split with Wellington (1995) and Six Years In The Desert (2001), which was a re-mastered collection of No Strength To Suffer, Nineteenhundredninetyseven and Life: Beautiful, But Heartless all on one CD. Most recently, their Cart Return 7” EP was released in 2017. Their not-so-subtle brand of metal tinged hardcore is what put them on the aggressive music map. Fall Silent effectively captured the sound of the ’80s fast punk and hardcore of their skater skeeno youth and blended it with the blazing riffage of early-’90s death metal. It’s no wonder that their live shows brought together fans of hardcore, punk, and metal, chanting the lyrics to their favorite tracks. You Knew I Was Poison brings Fall Silent full circle. These tracks continue where the band last left us—with lyrical content that rakes today’s world over the coals in

The debut 7” from one of Orange County, California’s premier hardcore bands and the first West Coast release by Revelation Records is finally back in print. NO FOR AN Answer delivered fast, intense, straight-edge hardcore alongside their local contemporaries like Chain OF Strength and Insted, but infused more thoughtprovoking and confrontational lyrics than most other bands of their day. Fronted by hardcore luminary-turned-author Dan O’Mahoney, NO FOR AN Answer can be credited as being one of the cornerstones of the West Coast straight-edge movement of the late ’80s. New pressing now available on opaque red vinyl.

Following the youthful energy of Sixteen and the melodic precision of Facetious Folly Feat, Shook Ones check those boxes and more on The Unquotable A.M.H With the help of superstar producer Jackson Long, the band achieves that fine balance of not being able to sit still and not being able to get the hook out of your head. Their attempt at the “difficult third record” displays the band’s development as songwriters as much as it delivers a familiar restless energy. The lyrical perspective has been seasoned by the passage of time as Scott Freeman continues to evaluate, question, and reflect. A.M.H captures the band hitting their stride, embracing new sonic territory and dynamics as they push the concept of “pop-punk” beyond its stereotyped confines. If you missed it the first time, Revelation Records is giving you another chance to bring home your favorite ShookS’ songs on this record.

Sixteen is a record of youth, ambition, and reflection. Titled after the number of questions asked in the lyrics, and written/recorded as the members faced impending graduation from school, Sixteen is an album about where we’ve been and where we’re going. Musically, there’s no question and no shame in the influences from all things Yemin, but that appreciation for the past is filtered through courage for the future and the band’s own approach to what was once known as pop-punk, establishing their own homage to melody and ambition. That recognition of the past as an affect of the future is prevalent in the lyrics as singer Scott Freeman considers how the person he’s been, the person he is, and the person he wants to be all fit into a world that isn’t always receptive to straying from the beaten path. If you’ve ever been in that time of your life where you are equally terrified of the future taking over your past and excited to see what that looks like, this is the soundtrack to that time. It can be owned on vinyl once

Before they were called Bold, this K-Town mosh crew were originally known as Crippled Youth. Join The Fight was their debut EP as well as the first release for up-and-coming West Coast hardcore label New Beginning Records (underdog, Halfoff, P.H.C.), recorded in late 1985 and released in 1986. With song topics covering the positivity of their scene, being straight edge, and friends sticking together, this record was the catalyst for a thousand sing-alongs.

The late eighties were an exciting time to get caught up in the hardcore scene. While many of the early eighties pioneers of the music had moved along, the scene went through something of a renaissance with a new crop of energetic kids who had seized the power of the music and molded it into something that was relevant to the style of their times. Leading the pack in this regeneration was Revelation Records, who released a clutch of seven-inch singles and albums by bands like Sick OF IT ALL, Gorilla Biscuits, Bold, Judge and Chain OF Strength that defined where the scene was at that time. Somewhere in central New Jersey, a group of kids attending Ewing High School were spinning these records incessantly while attending many of these bands’ live shows. The combination set their minds ablaze with inspiration and so they started Mouthpiece in January of 1990. In between getting their band from the basement to the clubs, an abrupt change happened within the hardcore scene. Most of the bands Mouthpiece wanted to share the stage with had suddenly broken up or changed paths. With no concern for the changes in sound and style going on around them, they went along with their original agenda and unconsciously became the band to lead straight edge hardcore into the nineties until their demise in 1996. Can’t Kill What’s Inside: The Complete Discography contains the band’s entire recorded output as well as previously unreleased soundboard recorded live tracks. The packaging contains photos of the band as well as a complete listing of every show the band has ever played in their existence. The entire product is both a labor of love as well as a sight to see and proves that what

Tørsö is armed with a powerful punk and hardcore sound with influences as geographically diverse as its members. Punch guitarist Keith and Holy drummer Giacomo put together a transcontinental powerhouse adding bassist Jasmine of NEO Cons and Everybody ROW (among many others) and vocalist Ethan of Ritual Control. In addition to the Home Wrecked 7”, we will be issuing both EPs together on a cassette for the first time, an ode to

The world of hardcore is renowned for the preservation of its own history. The history has been well-documented in records that have all been reissued, websites devoted to its preservation, an oral history that has been passed down through generations of show-goers, and now, through books that explore even the most minute and obscure details of underground hardcore culture.
This book documents an incredibly important aspect of hardcore’s culture that has, until now, not been documented in any print format: hardcore band T-shirts through the diligent collecting and cataloging of hardcore enthusiast Orhun Öner. The 200 pages of Life.Love.Shirts. - A Collection Of Hardcore
Clothing features the colorful T-shirts that were bought and sold in the sweaty clubs of the ’80s and ’90s, many of which are extremely rare and fetch astronomical sums on the collector’s market. Many of the shirt photos are accompanied by stories from the bands, labels, and those who had a hand in the production and distribution, a glimpse of the rich tradition of hardcore band T-shirt production that continues on to this day!

Hearts Once Nourished With Hope And Compassion displays some of the most honest and darkest thoughts of Shai Hulud’s career. From the opening guitar chord of “Solely Concentrating On The Negative Aspects Of Life,” it only gets uglier and more real with each track. Mastering was done by Zeuss (Hatebreed, Throwdown, Shadows Fall) and Alan Douches (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Misfits, Between The Buried And Me). Following similar lyrical content as A Profound Hatred Of Man, Shai Hulud gives an outlet to those who are disgusted with everyday life; they are reassured that they are not the only ones who share this feeling.

The record was recorded by two different line-ups featuring Ray Cappo (youth OF Today, Better Than A Thousand), Vic Dicara (inside OUT, 108), Porcell (youth OF Today, Judge, Gorilla Biscuits), Graham Land (Better Than A Thousand, Battery), and Sammy Siegler (youth OF Today, CIV, World BE Free, Judge, Rival Schools).

Planet ON A Chain or “P.O.A.C.” are hardcore lifers. People who never stopped feeling the angst and rage associated with hardcore, who never stopped trying to push themselves musically, who never stopped paying attention to the current sounds and styles, who don’t make music based on past glory, who still contribute to today’s hardcore culture without asserting that things were better in their day. The four members of P.O.A.C. are familiar faces. Vocalist Dave Ackerman fronting early-‘00s Tear IT UP, a sparkplug of a band from New Jersey whose shows were always one click away from devolving into complete anarchy, and the other three from Oakland, CA’s Look Back AND Laugh, arguably the best live band of their generation: a whirlwind of screaming guitars, drum rolls, long hair, and dreadlocks, all on one stage.

Popeye was an established fixture in Southern California, both personally and creatively, as the former frontman for melodic hardcore greats Farside. There was little in his routine to suggest at that point that Popeye’s life was headed for any sort of major change. It felt like an ideal life, in fact, until it didn’t. “It was very solitary, and I guess I was OK with that—or at least I told myself that I was OK with that—until I met the woman who is now my wife,” he explains. “That absolutely changed everything.” At the tail end of 2021, Popeye (Farside) uprooted his entire life to move across the country to the city of Scranton, Pennsylvania, where he would eventually come to meet the rest of his new band Calling Hours: guitarists Thomas McGrath (the Commercials) and Tony Bavaria (the Commercials), bassist Garrett Rothman (don’t Sleep), and drummer Jim Bedorf (don’t Sleep). For Brian McTernan, a celebrated producer with a nearly 30-year history of shaping some of the biggest hardcore records of all time—including albums for HOT Water Music, Turnstile, Circa Survive, and THRICE—advancing Calling Hours from the idea stage to the recording stage was personal: “Popeye is one of his favorite singers of all time,” Rothman explains. “He told me he named one of his cats after Popeye.” The outcome of that collaboration is Say Less, a seven-song record for Revelation Records that revisits the band members’ melodic, post-punk sensibilities while working in a decidedly contemporary direction. It’s also a deep dive into the feelings of displacement and discomfort that punctuated Popeye’s move—a meditation on the intersection of sense of place and sense of self

There is no doubt Warzone is one of the most crucial and influential bands coming from the New York Hardcore scene. Fronted by the charismatic Ray “Raybeez” Barbieri, Warzone preached vehemently for scene unity and against racism while buzzsaw guitar riffs and wailing solos over speedy drums churned out a soundtrack found at Cbgb Sunday Matinees, The Pyramid, The Anthrax and the rest of the legendary clubs of the era. Their landmark debut LP Don’t Forget The Struggle, Don’t Forget The Streets is heralded as one of the most important Nyhc records of all time, with its 2016 reissue on Revelation Records selling thousands of copies and filling gaps in record collections all over the world. Two years later, Revelation Records proudly presents the reissue of Warzone’s second LP Open Your Eyes. This oft-overlooked record continues the sound from Don’t Forget The Struggle,... the last purely hardcore record before the band’s more metal third LP. This record featured Jerry Williams behind the board who was previously known for his work with Bad Brains, The Beastie Boys, and Reagan Youth among others, with production help from none other than Dr. Know, guitarist of Bad Brains!

Although some define hardcore as a specific sound, most believe it’s more than that: a set of varying ideas, ethics, principles, attitudes, and yes, music, that converge to form a community. So, what draws people to this underground scene, and why are so many able to find their “home” within its invisible walls? Burning Fight: The Nineties Hardcore Revolution in Ethics, Politics, Spirit, and Sound by Brian Peterson provides some answers, but also brings up a whole new set of questions for those who‘ve been drawn to the scene’s political, social, ethical, and spiritual ideas amidst the screamed vocals and abrasive chords. Beginning in 2003, Peterson tracked down some people who were a part of ’90s hardcore. Over the course of five years, the idea spread into a project that included over 150 interviews with many band members, fanzine writers, show promoters, and others involved in hardcore during the ’90s from all around the country. “I decided to focus the book on the debates surrounding straight edge, animal rights, politics/activism, and spirituality,” Peterson said. “It seemed like you couldn’t go to a show in the early ’90s without getting into a discussion with someone about one of these topics. Obviously, there were many other important issues, ideas, and, of course, bands from this era, but I also realized I couldn’t write an encyclopedia. So, I went with the topics and bands that seemed to resonate most with the people I interviewed.” Burning Fight draws upon the memories of many who played influential roles in the ’90s-hardcore era to understand what made this scene so unique in its ability to synthesize music, politics, social issues, and spirituality into what many felt was a powerful counter-cultural movement where change was just around the corner.

Morning Again returns with their second in a series of EPs, offering up five brandnew, powerful, riff-heavy tracks. The lineup consists of vocalist Kevin Byers, guitarists John Wylie and Stephen Looker, bassist Gerardo Villarroel, and drummer Joshua Williams. Before the band initially dissolved, they released their farewell full-length, As Tradition Dies Slowly, in 1998, also on Revelation Records. When the idea of recording new material came up, it was unanimous on both sides to return where the music fit. Their 2018 EP, Survival Instinct, was tracked in California with producer Beau Burchell, who has recorded the likes of Saosin, Mooseblood, THE Bronx, and countless others. Band founder and guitarist John Wylie says, “The time is right for new Morning Again music. When we started playing one-off shows and festivals again in 2011, we realized not only do we have more material left in us, there seems to be a demand for it.” During the lockdown of 2020, Morning Again would use that time to create some new music that truly showcases the band’s musical evolution. Eager to get back in the studio again with Burchell, they created five new tracks that reflect how each of them experienced the time in seclusion. Borrowed Time take’s their sound one step further and includes some of the heaviest tracks to date. Wylie goes on to say, “We feel these are five of the best and strongest songs we have ever written and we are very excited to be able to present them with modern-day recording capabilities, something we weren’t exposed to in our early years.” Since recording, the band has been busy playing festivals and shows in Europe and North America. Appearances at Furnace Fest in Alabama, Hellfest in France, and Resurrection Fest in Spain allowed the band to give people a sneak peak of Borrowed Time

They came from some of the most popular, if not polarizing hardcore bands of the early ’90s (shelter, 108, Ressurection), but by the time Texas IS THE Reason formed in 1994, a new aesthetic crystallized almost instantly and reduced its members’ previous efforts to history. Indeed, it was only a year later, when Revelation Records released the band’s selftitled EP—their name derived from a lyric in the Misfits song “Bullet”—that Texas IS THE Reason were already headlining their own tours in America and well on their way to defining a new moment in post-punk. In April of 1996, the band reinforced that initial success with their first and only album, produced by JAWBOX’s J. Robbins and named after the last words that John Lennon was alleged to have heard: Do You Know Who You Are? In the years since, Spin, Alternative Press, and Paste would all go on to call Do You Know Who You Are? an essential ’90s album. Unfortunately, after a year of heavy promotion and touring for the record, inner-band tension came to a head, and Texas IS THE Reason officially split in 1997. Its members would go on to form Jets TO Brazil, NEW END Original, and Atlantic/pacific. Since then, the band had only reunited once—for two sold-out New York City shows in 2006—but their presence has barely waned: Newer generations of bands like Spitalfield, Into IT. Over IT., and Transit have covered Texas IS THE Reason songs over the years, and even vets like Thursday, Taking Back Sunday, and Armor FOR Sleep have all publicly cited their influence. Born from the same Bay Area scene that has spawned Tørsö, Primal Rite, Look Back AND Laugh, Punch, and countless others, Urban Sprawl is here to play some of the dirtiest hardcore the city of San Francisco has ever witnessed. Featuring members of the aforementioned Tørsö as well as Profile, Wound MAN, and even Joyce Manor, Urban Sprawl tackles issues plaguing the Bay Area like gentrification and inequality

In its most basic form, hardcore is the focal point of the energy, recklessness, and frustration of youth. No band from New York embodied this raw emotion so much as Side BY Side, vocalizing their disenfranchisement like none who came before them and none who have come since. Though short lived, the desperation and immediate impact of Side BY Side was deeply felt. Coming across not as a preaching, we’re-better-than-you band, and with the gruff realness that many felt was absent in some of their peers, Side BY Side tore through the boundaries that were growing in the punk and hardcore scene. They stand today as one of the lasting images of the birth of a new sound, a new scene—taking the sound of early NY punk and hardcore bands like Urban Waste and fusing it with a positive message not unlike 7 Seconds, but with the anger and intensity of Minor Threat. You’re Only Young Once... is a documentation of nearly all the captured studio output of this infamous band, including their highly sought after 7” EP plus three compilation tracks. You’re Only Young Once... is newly remastered and packaged for the first time as an LP with original artwork—including a full-color, fold-out poster with a reproduction of the original, paste-up lyric sheet insert and a large color version of the back cover photo of this decades out-of-print EP. Playing a mere 12 shows, their legacy is as strong as their “youth-crew” brethren like Youth OF Today, Bold, and Judge. A moment in time preserved by these recordings, the energy and aggression still sounds as urgent as the day it was recorded.
