Chilean black/death metal cataclysm Chaos Perversion emanate from the underworld of the glorious South American extreme metal scene with an aural declaration of war aimed straight at humanity like a hell-forged arsenal of complete mass destruction. Loyal and adherent to the tradition and reputation of the legendary and often far too overlooked Chilean black/death and speed metal cult, Chaos Perversion throw the entirely of their negativity and darkened vision into a nineteen-minute debut offering of feral and primal aural darkness worshipping the omnipotence and majesty of total chaos and inevitability. Originally circulated independently only locally in their scene back in 2019, the duo's debut EP "Petrified Against the Emanation" is now presented via Sentient Ruin for global audiences as a limited edition vinyl 10-inch.

One of two super limited edition 10” vinyl EPs recorded at the same time as Surfer Blood’s latest album Carefree Theatre, but sold only at tour dates (most of which have now been canceled, thanks Pandemic...) Hardboiled has four non-album tracks plus a very different version of “Summer Trope” from Carefree Theatre, with horns and guest lead vocals by Dutch singer Pip Blom. Additional guest lead vocals are handled by Surfer Blood bassist Lindsey Mills (on “Dori Deer”) and Samira Winter of the band Winter (on “Playing Dumb”).

The accompanying message was simple: “Wishing everyone good health, happiness, and good cheer in the new year.” Originally made at home in isolation, this digital-only release consisted of two new Mono songs: “Scarlet Holliday” and “First Winter.” Now, to commemorate the 2021 holiday season, Mono has reworked and expanded Scarlet Holliday into a very special 3-song EP (now including the brand new song, “Epilogue”). Recorded at home and at Electrical Audio by longtime collaborator, Steve Albini, newly mixed by John McEntire and mastered by Bob Weston, Scarlet Holliday is finally being released into the world on limited-edition 10” vinyl! Everyone’s favorite (and only existing) punk rock all-star cover band ME First AND THE Gimme GimmeS are back with their latest offering, Go Down Under. Instead of enhancing (or disgracing, depending on who you ask) one specific genre of music, as is their typical approach, this time they’ve decided to take on the music of an entire continent. As you may have guessed from the album’s title, Australia is the lucky recipient of the Gimmes latest musical makeover. Crikey! Five tracks from proud Aussies the likes of Inxs, Olivia Newton-John, and Air Supply, are belted out with the boisterous fun-loving style that only the Gimmes know how to pull off. Didgeridoos be damned, these tunes are all brimming with ripping guitar leads, up-tempo rhythms, and the signature silky smooth vocals of Spike Slawson. Go Down Under is their first newly recorded material since 2006 and from the opening riff it’s blatantly clear the guys haven’t lost a step. Just to add to the excitement, the vinyl version of the album is available for the first time on 10- inch vinyl! Originally released as a double 7”.

»Vertigo Dubs Vol. 2: Elijah Minnelli« is the second in a series of 10inches accompanying The Notwist’s current album »Vertigo Days«, and will present new versions of some of its tracks.

Elijah Minnelli is a radio presenter for Soho Radio and Radio alHara. His varied musical tastes inform a production style that merges disparate influences with contemporary bass music via a dubwise tradition. ​For this second volume, Minnelli reinterprets both »Al Sur (featuring Juana Molina)« and »Exit Strategy To Myself«. The former is spun into an ethereal cumbia-inspired yarn, while the latter opts for dubbed-out sparseness in a dancehall framework.

The Vertigo Dubs are a continuation of The Notwist’s collective approach that led to »Vertigo Days«, while offering new access to the album’s songs.

‘While in lockdown I wrote a number of psalms, or small, sacred songs—one a day for a week. The seven psalms are presented as one long meditation—on faith, rage, love, grief, mercy, sex and praise. A veiled, contemplative offering borne of an uncertain time. I hope you like it.’ Nick Cave

The new project features seven spoken word pieces set to music by Nick Cave in collaboration with Warren Ellis, and a 12 minute instrumental, recorded during the Carnage album sessions. It was produced by Nick Cave with Luis Almau.

Markus Acher (best known as singer of The Notwist) typically produces his own music under the name Rayon – this time, however, is a different story. Using his real name, he sends a signal re: the circumstances he recorded the music in - at home in his old apartment in Munich, in a private setting, in a time when there was hardly anything else available. Accordingly, and rather fittingly, the four songs represent a bridge to the outside world: Acher tore the doors to his balcony wide open, inviting the outside in , capturing its sound on tape: rain falling, engine noise of passing cars. And at the same time the songs pushed outward, into that sphere that remained off-limits to us for some time (“Like a plane they can go everywhere”).

The four tracks - arranged for harmonium, acoustic guitar, banjo, glockenspiel, percussion, a children's harp and vocals - were released digitally in 2021 via the Japanese independent platform Minna Kikeru, run by Saya (member of the duo Tenniscoats and Markus Acher's bandmate in Spirit Fest), among others. For two songs of «Like A Plane», Saya contributed vocal tracks as well.

Featuring six new songs independent of the forthcoming album, Hourly Haunts is Surfer Blood at its very best, with earworm melodies and addicting guitar riffs abound. On new single 'Around Your Sun,' a song the band describes as both "an up-tempo, triumphant love song" and a "sensitive banger," this refreshed sound is showcased to thrilling effect.

From a deckhand on a container ship idling in the bay, an excitable beachgoer, or a rubbernecker passing through an intersection: it’s as if you’re floating around the city, people-watching through a soft focus lens. Flowertown, the San Francisco duo of Karina Gill (cindy) and Mike Ramos, return with the dreamy, temperate, Half Yesterday. Flowertown’s previous album, Time Trials, focused on the slowing down of time, shutdowns, and a somber look at our day-to-day thoughts. But with over-the-shoulder observations, a ‘slice of life’ from one onlooker to the next, “Half Yesterday” seems to tell the story of the people in a living, thriving, city. Twangy lead guitar, high-neck bass notes, and percussion woven together in the decay of a warm reverb. The album contains the familiar vocal trade-offs between Mike and Karina; oftentimes coming up with two separate melodies for their respective vocals. One stark difference is the beautifully simple production across all of the tracks. Previous Flowertown recordings leaned on the “Portastudio as an instrument” production for many of the songs. On Half Yesterday the tape hiss is there, but it’s not altering the end result. With a fading pink and blue sky, the city’s lights begin to twinkle at sunset. Another onlooker gazes out and wonders if what they’re seeing is right.

Now, 6 years later Scott Fairfax (Memoriam, As The World Dies) and Karl Willetts (Memoriam), join forces yet again to deliver H Drive Project. H Drive Project has an epic cinematic, ethereal sound driven by synth based keyboards, with touches of Scott's heavy riffing guitars and Karl's raw and emotional vocals. Unbound by a singular genre, H Drive Project merge a galactic style ambience, waves of bass and 80’s synth infusions with touches of heavy elements to explore an innovative depth of melody to their style. On their first release H Drive Project brings you 2 tracks with a total time clocking over 12 minutes. A massive and brutal wall of sound and very personal lyrics.

Currently celebrating their 40th anniversary year, Sheffield-based In The Nursery announce a brand new studio album. Entitled ‘humberstone’, the family surname of core group members Klive and Nigel, it is a deeply personal record that sees them in reflective mood as a year in which they also turned 60 comes to a close. “We have always needed a reason to make music, a rationale for its creation and existence,” they state. “As composers, the two of us are conscious of the connection between music and memory. The loss of family is a strong emotion, one that we’ve harnessed to revisit our past. Our antecedents have been a catalyst and a stimulus for this new album and it has been good to reconnect and remember.” ‘Émigré (The Dressmaker)’ opens proceedings, its orchestral post-punk vibe packed with high drama as it depicts the tragic drowning at sea of hundreds of emigrants following the burning of a ship off the Cape of Good Hope in the late 19th Century, including Humberstone family ancestors en route to New Zealand. By way of contrast, it is immediately followed by the gorgeously chilled ‘Ektachrome (The Animator)… In The Nursery is a Sheffield-based group centred around the nucleus of identical twin brothers Klive and Nigel Humberstone. Formed in 1981, their career has been a quest to progress and experiment while remaining true to their original vision. Their sublime, cinematic music blends electronica, classical arrangements, orchestral percussion and soundscapes that evoke a timeless quality. ITN have released over 25 albums since 1981 that have consolidated their distinctive sound but also taken on board contemporary influences. Their music has been used on numerous film soundtracks and trailers that include Game of Thrones and Gran Torino. In parallel to their studio albums, ITN have also developed their Optical Music Series, recording new scores for classic silent films such as The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari and The Passion Of Joan Of Arc. They have performed these scores live at film festivals around the world.

To coincide with the Brian Jonestown Massacre's start of their 2022 European tour is the release of two new tracks by the band. Hate PROPAGANDA's far too overlooked 2019 debut MLP World War 666 sees a much needed reissue on vinyl, remastered and enhanced by brand new artwork commissioned for the purpose by Xerox master P. VAN Trigt. When it was first released on cassette tape back in 2019 by War Arts Productions, this war-torn debut offering of primeval warnoise by the mysterious Portuguese war criminals stood out immediately as a crown jewel debut for the genre and as one one of the year's most definitive and underrated manifestations of extreme metal's most hateful and berserk fringe. Packing in nineteen minutes of absolute hatred, the annihilating MLP manifests as a nightmare hallucination of complete violence and negativity, evoking eons of perennial apocalyptic global planetary war and terror on the wings of its nefarious design of achieving maximum annihilation in the shortest amount of time possible. To harness this bleak pantheon of ruin, the Portuguese conquerors have assembled a weaponized and uncontrolled sonic chain reaction where grindcore, black metal, death metal and hardcore punk are all accelerated and instigated into an inescapable payload of death aimed straight at the vital sinews of humanity. A sonic maelstrom churned into shape by an onslaught of obscure violent riffs, psychotic leads and ominous laughter which, parallel to a pulverizing drum performance, emanates from oblivion with an antediluvian, negative aura.

Chile-born and now Germany-based scourging black metal plague Vel'har joins Sentient Ruin for a much awaited and long anticipated vinyl release of its 2020 light-consuming debut MLP Letanía I. On the wretched offering cryptic mastermind H.S.V.H. unfolds two monstrous black metal blades adorned by three interludes to invoke an unholy sonic siege upon the ridicule of life and the purity of christendom. Baptized under the pentagram and spewn from the unholy jaws of oblivion, these five tracks sprawl and hiss like a horrifying morass of snakes, consuming reality and devouring everything in the wake of a monstrous tide of venom. The rawness and violence of these riffs is evident, but so is the ritualistic and esoteric majesty emanating from its death-scarred aura; an infernal force summoned as a liturgy or rite of passage toward a higher meaning and other form of existence. And that form is Satan's triumph, the zenith toward which every moving part of this wretched crucible converges. His glory as beacon and conduit of pestilent krafts conceived with the malefic design of insulting life and transporting the listener deep inside twisted and inverted dimensions of infinite dissolution and complete insanity.

The 2017 groundbreaking debut EP for Tamino-Amir Moharam Fouad, Tamino in short. The grandson of Egyptian actor/musician Moharam Fouad stormed the charts with the brilliant single 'Habibi', a song that envelops itself in a mist of melancholy and gloom. Tamino's phenomenal voice, ranging from a deep croon to a towering falsetto, goes right to the bone. He combines the tradition of the greatest singer-songwriters with his own Arabic roots. Belpop history was made right there.

Pleasure is a Sydney based music project that utilizes distorted synths, irregular drum beats and fluid song structures to create energetic and hypnotic pieces that straddle the line of bright and abrasive. Following up their LP Saint Alban’s, Pleasure puts forth a 10” Chop Wood, Carry Water. The 7 track record ranges from meditative groove to bombastic destruction all spiked with their signature wonk. Recorded primarily in their own studio spaces the tracks capture the band in a more exploratory state. The trio is comprised of Adam Connelly (synthesizers + vocals) Jonathan Boulet (bass guitar + fx pedals) and Hugh Deacon (drums). When playing live and on record, their music is improvised and unrehearsed with no laptops or backing tracks. “One of us will introduce an idea and the rest will follow.”
