This holy grail was originally released in 1972 on the legendary Sermi Records label (often referred to as SR Records). It features ten tracks composed by Ennio Morricone’s whistler, Alessandro Alessandroni revealing his great talent and unrivaled sense of melody, and two by the brilliant Italian jazz bassist Giovanni Tommaso, also founder and member of the legendary prog-jazz-rock ensemble Perigeo.

Sonor Music Editions proudly announces a previously unknown Italian Library killer session from the golden era - Rhythm AND Sound by the mysterious 'Mandrassi & Zollinger', backed by 'I Beati' studio band. Mandrassi, alias for Anna Maria Assunta Andreassi, is one of the very first female composers of Library Music in Italy while Zollinger is linked to Sergio Pagano, brother of the famed Italian author, composer and singer Mario Pagano. Originally released in 1973 for the private studio label ‘Ludo Record’, this album remained in the obscurity for almost 50 years, it’s so rare that only very few hardcore record collectors know it, we even doubt about its existence at all.. so we're now glad to bring it back to life! A countless breaks galore, filled with outstanding funk grooves and chasing beats. The jam sounds like a missing link between The Fine Machine ‘Habitat’ and the legendary Arawak ‘Accadde a..’ recordings, with its uptempo rhythms allover and the coolest funky instrumentation played by a mysterious studio group.

A Mega-Rare Italian Electronic Underwater music Library production - recorded for an obscure documentary on sea from the early '70s. Sonor Music Editions proudly presents A Tempo Di Jazz by Maestro Piero Umiliani. This lost gem captures the formative years of modern jazz in late 1950s Italy – alongside the legendary Basso-Valdambrini recordings in the early 1960s, as well as the early years of Piero Umiliani's long and prolific career as a composer with over 190 soundtracks, 40 library albums, and 35 TV title themes recorded. A Tempo Di Jazz includes seven original compositions by Piero Umiliani recorded in 1959. Here, at the age of 33, he lays a perfect ground with himself as a pianist, accompanied by some of the best Italian soloists at the time: Marcello Boschi on alto saxophone and flute, Ivan Vandor on tenor saxophone, Peppe Carta on bass, and the American trombonist Bill Gilmore. With plenty of room for improvisation, the sextet fuses big band moods with West Coast experimentation of Latin American rhythms and modern jazz ballads that sit perfectly between his soundtracks for the films I Soliti Ignoti (Big Deal on Madonna Street) from the same year that attained him international recognition, and his masterpiece Smog (featuring Chet Baker and Helen Merrill) from 1962.

The music has carefully been transferred and remastered from the original mono master tapes, and mono lacquer cut by Jukka Sarapää at Timmion Cutting.

Giovanni Tommaso is the greatest Italian Jazz bassist and founder and member of the most important ever Italian Jazz Rock ensembles, the Perigeo band. He composed "indefinitive Atmosphere" at the end of 1969, released a few months after in 1970 on Sermi label, and recorded it at Rca studios in Rome. "indefinitive Atmosphere" represents a special album for him and for us as well, since it was his first album released as a sole composer/artist. The Maestro dug in personal archive for us and finally found a copy of the original master tape containing part of the recordings. Besides the misspelled title "Indefinitive" instead of "Indefinite", that became part of the legend here, this album was incredibly ahead of his time, with the young Maestro Tommaso playing electric bass and contrabass a in studio ensemble composed of 3/4 elements plus the strings section, with plenty of stunning Jazz-Funk, Jazz-Rock and Free Jazz tracks. The session is also known for including the legendary American Jazz soprano sax Steve Lacy on the track called "Steve", where he plays a sax solo. We entirely restored the full session from the original tapes found, and digitally remastered the sound for a greater sound experience, chasing the original analog source.

Sonor Music Editions presents a collection of rare and obscure recordings by the composer and trumpeter genius Cicci Santucci on cassette, all transferred and remastered by Lorenzo Fabrizi from 1980s lost reels, vinyls and tapes. All the tracks have been privately produced and recorded at Cicci Santucci's own studio between 1982 and 1987 for the TV synchronization, spots and background usage. Now Again Records and Sonor Music Editions announce the debut release by The Kimba Unit on 45. Grown up in Los Angeles, Julian Rapaport made his musical studies in New York, developing his personal musical taste listening to the Jazz mentors of American Spiritual/Avant-garde movement (Sun Ra especially). Legendary Madlib’s jazz projects influenced him a lot too. Since his very young age, he had a deep connection with Italy and the world of Italian Library music: renowned Italian composers like Piero Umiliani and Piero Piccioni definitely completed and surely influenced his musical background. The 3 tracks from this EP are entirely DIY studio recordings, with a distinct Lo-Fi sound and shades of Spiritual Jazz all over.

We're now excited to announce the first ever reissue of another Italian Library grail from the catalogue - originally issued in 1972 on Gemelli label. Sandro Brugnolini's masterpiece "utopia", originally pressed on a ridiculous run, and released on a beatiful tip-on sleeve reproducing painter Michel Seuphor's abstract art. The first official release after the recent maestro's passing, conceived with the great arrangements of Giorgio Carnini at the Hammond and piano, and the direction of maestro Franco Tamponi. A brilliant and inspired Jazz-Funk and Lounge Jazz session with just amazing sounds, driven by both dreamy and underground moods, Avant-garde Jazz refined orchestrations and gorgeous grooves.

The legendary Hip Hop / Dusty Fingers heavy tune "COL FIATO IN GOLA" by maestro Filippo Trecca, originally released in 1978 for the Giallo TV mini series "Diario Di Giudice" and directed by Dante Troisi. Sampled by tons of artists, this track represents a true holy grail for Italian TV-soundtracks music lovers and DJs with a totally mental downtempo Hip Hop beat played in a heavy Funk key with just everything you could dream about: sleazy and punishing drum patterns / huge and ceaseless string cuts / heavy Giallo orchestration / meandering flutes / groovy and totally killer mood. Essential stuff!

Founded in early 70s by historical Rai TV trumpeter and composer Cicci Santucci (Looking Around, On The Underground Road etc.), New Tape grown up during the golden period of Italian music production and was dedicated to experimentation of new forms of sound, always hailing from the solid Jazz basis of the musicians and theme music inspiration. Andrea Galtieri aka Cavalier Piscopo sequenced the very best shots from the whole label production including exclusive liner notes, with an explosive mix of Jazz-Rock, Bossa, spellbinding groove and raw Experimental stuff.
"A leading figure in the Italian Jazz scene, Francesco 'Cicci' Santucci worked as trumpeter in the legendary Rai TV orchestra for over 20 years. He was renowned for collaborations with such international jazz legends as Lionel Hampton, Gato Barbieri, and Kenny Clarke – that is until his foray into the avant-garde progressive experience of The Living Music, a project founded by his brother Umberto. During these same years, he took part in important Italian jazz sessions like "Looking Around", "Mondo Operaio", and "On The Underground Road", with his close colleague Enzo Scoppa.
It was just around this period of great music production and experimentation that Cicci founded his own label, the NEW TAPE, in the very early '70s. His goal was to dedicate himself to composing library music with a new expression of music, less linked to hard bop or American standards, but rather more focused on the new sounds of the time that brought the listener closer to modern vibes, like jazz-rock and avant-garde music.
"Mixed Grill" opens this series, composed by the maestro's alias, 'Girosan', along with Lesiman (a.k.a. Paolo Renosto) who added a more esoteric and captivating atmosphere, closer to English progressive rock. "Rengran Mix" and "Tropical" follow, with music by Paolo Renosto and the old avant-garde connoisseur, Romolo Grano. This work gave way to electronic instrumentation and weird experimentation, and was built on a rich rhythmical carpet – tropical percussions, rock and blues inspired vibes, sleazy psych, and jazz improvisations. Music from “Rengran Mix” was also used as the soundtrack for the TV programme "Futili Motivi", and also featured the great backing sound of I Marc 4 with the accompaniment of Nora Orlandi's warm vocals.
The trademark of the label, and the most important production, is the fourth album, "Mirage" by Cicci Santucci and Enzo Scoppa themselves. This record is an explosive mix of elegant jazz, funk, and psychedelia, where every instrument finds its expressive space. We can clearly hear the connection on both the 'On the Underground Road' and 'Looking Around' albums, recorded that same year, bringing that unmistakable underground jazz dopeness typical of the magical duo of Santucci and Scoppa.
The last album of the series is "Appunti Di Guerra" by the mysterious 'Ruscigan' – a very obscure alias which probably belongs to Renosto and Guido Baggiani. This work features complex and dramatic sounds properly composed for war scenes and gloomy atmospheres, with a large assortment of percussion, distorted effects, and tape manipulation – an album that foreshadowed what would become industrial music.
With a ridiculously small pressing of only 100 copies per title, NEW TAPE is among the most interesting discoveries to date in terms of original production library music, and as a result, a very respectable journey begins inside the creative underground jazz of 1970s."

We're presenting under our New Tape label Mark's debut release "Sound-In-The-Round", that draws a deep inspiraton by the golden era of Italian Library and Soundtrack Music. Something akin to the legendary Prog-Rock ensemble Goblin and the avant-garde composer Giuliano Sorgini, but with a rich plenty of grooveness. Mark Saddlemire is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer from Philadelphia, passionate about creating instrumental compositions from a blend of acoustical and electronic sounds using analog techniques. An electrical engineer by trade, he's customized and repaired much of the vintage gear used for his recordings - his studio is a collection of unique and rare analog instruments from the 1960s to the 1980s.
