Under his stage name C418, Rosenfeld created the sweeping soundtrack and vibrant sound design that brought the voxel-based universe of "Minecraft" to life. Fans and critics alike were blown away by his beatless, balanced electro pieces across the board. Popular gaming site Kotaku listed the soundtrack among its "Best Game Music" of 2011, calling the music "impressively soothing," while The Guardian compared Rosenfeld's fragile pieces of piano and minimalist ambient to legendary artists Erik Satie and Brian ENO. In an interview, Polygon distilled "Volume Alpha" down to its essence: "The soundtrack is not tied to the retro aesthetic of Minecraft graphics. The soundtrack overrides them. The album is an attempt to translate the combined game/music experience into something heavenly."

Ryuichi Sakamoto (1952–2023) was one of the most personal and important voices of the world music scene for several decades: from rock to pop, new age, opera, concert music, electronic and film music, no genre was foreign to him, and he managed to stamp his own style on each of them. His acclaimed score for Wuthering Heights is written in the symphonic tradition of his scores for Bernardo Bertolucci’s THE Last Emperor (for which he won the Oscar for Best Original Score) and Little Buddha. One of Sakomoto’s most special and beloved scores, Wuthering Heights is haunting, beautiful, romantic and tragic. The discography of the phantom Gruppo Sound exceeds over thirty titles published in an undefined time frame between the Eighties and the Nineties. However, there is very little information about this curious pseudonym. it is possible to find a library music album by Gruppo Sound inside the Canopo, Deneb, Flower, Monosound Records and Teams catalogues, all managed by Flipper Music publishing group, but both the creators and the musicians have never been the same. Gruppo Sound is only a collective name, maybe to identify a certain number of 'new' productions characterized by an electronic background And, not by chance, the author of “New York City” is a single artist, the multi-instrumentalist Gabriele Ducros. Son of the prolific composer Remigio Ducros, he first followed his footsteps in the field of music libraries and soundtracks and then become the author of many tracks for television commercials of a certain relevance, winning some international awards. “Some of these tracks may have been associated with a pornographic film. Others were, however, made as brief comments for a theatrical show, perhaps never made”, remembers Gabriele Ducros. What unites the thirteen pieces is the same musical language, which derives from a widespread funk and jazz matrix. Both genres are thus declined through a different approach and taste, in line with the fusion trends of the time, when the early synthesizers were used by few artists. A handful of electric guitar notes for a 'urban' mood, the acoustic ones from a dreamy morning awakening. Electronic keyboards to arouse a sense of nostalgia in the listener, while flute and saxophone always punctuate different atmospheres. A computer melody, a theme for children and a sophisticated ode to the fusion sound of the Big Apple, perhaps true source of ispiration of the work. “New York City” is not a concept album, but one of the best cross-sections of Gabriele Ducros' great creativity.

1969 soundtrack from Piero Umiliani Pressed on Yellow Vinyl & includes a 30x30cm insert First ever vinyl release of several tracks! “L'arcangelo” (The Archangel) is a 1969 comedy characterised by police and judiciary tones, directed by GIorgio Capitani and starring, among others, Vittorio Gassman, Pamela Tiffin, Adolfo Celi, Irina Demick and Carlo Delle Piane.

This soundtrack follows the previous “La notte è fatta per... rubare” (Night is Made for Stealing) which marked the beginning of Umiliani’s collaboration with the director. Mainly displaying a Latin American flavour, it contains several elements typical of the composer’s style, mixing bossa nova and samba with beat rhythms and Hammond organ, and is enriched by various vocal contributions from Alessandro Alessandroni’s Cantori Moderni and the delightful scat singing of Giulia De Mutiis, one of the choir’s female voices. Distorted electric guitars with orchestral ensemble also create an atmosphere between spy and detective story.

None of “The Archangel” tracks have ever been released in any form for many years, and to date there are only three CD editions only issued in Japan. This clear yellow vinyl version therefore fills a void and finally returns these wonderful compositions to us in the format that suits them best!

EP compilation Of Soichi Terada's work for the Ape Escape 1 Playstation game. TIP! Outside of the international house underground, where his early ‘90s works for the Far East Recording label he co-founded with Shinichiro Yokota are rightly celebrated as bona-fide classics, Soichi Terada is best-known for his work composing music for video games. Yet until now, few of his productions for video games have been released outside of Japan, especially on vinyl.

Apes In The Net, a six-track EP featuring music composed for the popular PlayStation 1 series Ape Escape, sets the record straight. It not only showcases Terada’s quality as a composer and producer, but also his versatility. Like much of Terada’s work on the Ape Escape series, the tracks featured don’t explore deep, New York and New Jersey influenced house sounds, but rather his lesser-celebrated love of jungle and drum & bass – a sound he fully explored on 1996 album Sumo Jungle.

“The producer of the Ape Escape games heard that and got in touch,” Soichi remembers. “They asked me to make the soundtrack, and then work on the music for the sequels after that. I used to love making music with Akai hardware samplers, synthesisers, and computers, so I played and recorded the tracks using almost the same methods as I did when I made house music. Using breakbeats and audio samples with a sampler was the most useful way to make the soundtracks.”

The six tracks on show, which were originally recorded in the ‘90s but reconstructed and remastered for Japan-only CD and digital releases over a decade ago, mix elements of Terada’s familiar deep house style – think warming chords and pads, memorable melodies, and emotive musical motifs – with blistering D&B breakbeats, 16-bit synth sounds, electronic bleeps and undeniably weighty basslines. They’ve stood the test of time and arguably sound just as fresh now as they did at the turn of the millennium.

For proof, check the soaring, spellbinding ‘Spectors Castle’, where uplifting lead lines and sumptuous chords dance atop punchy beats and growling bass, the jazzy and saucer-eyed rush of ‘Mount Amazing’ (all twinkling piano motifs, alien synth sounds, squelchy bass and skittish drums) and the intergalactic, liquid D&B excellence of ‘Time Station’, whose whistling melodies and stargazing chords are undeniably alluring.

There are plenty of other delights to be found across the EP, too, from the bustling, race-to-the-finish breathlessness of D&B/bleep techno fusion workout ‘Spectors Factory In’, and the rumbling sub-bass, creepy pads and suspenseful melodies of ‘Haunted House’, to the bombastic, all-out-assault on the senses that is ‘Coaster’, the set’s most “purist” jungle workout – albeit one that also doffs a cap to the pulsating world of big room techno.

Apes In The Net, then, celebrates Soichi Terada’s mastery as a video games composer and early Japanese junglist. Props are well and truly overdue.

“La Morte Ha Fatto l’Uovo” (1968), here reissued for the very first time on vinyl, is a unique score characterized by avant-garde sounds that combine with the bright tones of an atypical thriller that pays homage to the cinema of Luis Buñuel.

“La Morte Ha Fatto L’Uovo” (Death Laid an Egg) is a 1968 detective movie directed by Giulio Questi, featuring an international cast whose main actors are Ewa Aulin, Gina Lollobrigida and Jean-Louis Trintignant; the warm and bright tones of its photography strongly contrast against the dark and gloomy atmospheres and plot. The soundtrack of the film, composed and directed by Bruno Maderna, is even more peculiar and distant from the typical sounds of the time, and from almost any other soundtrack released in the 60s: there’s no trace of beat or psychedelia at all, but rather a collection of abstract and dissonant compositions, which we could classify as avant-garde and partly associate with certain experiments made by a contemporary group called Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza, but also with the less common side of the library music genre. All the songs were created with the sole use of strings, acoustic guitar, piano and spoken word. A truly unique work, unpredictable and almost impossible to categorize!

1971 soundtrack from Ennio Morricone Pressed on Transparent Clear Vinyl & includes a 30x30cm insert Liner notes and audio remastered by Claudio Fuiano “Sacco e Vanzetti” is a 1971 dramatic movie directed by Giuliano Montaldo and masterfully starred by the two lead actors Gian Maria Volonté and Riccardo Cucciolla; the film deals with the everpopular topic of the death penalty by recounting a real event that caused quite a stir at the time: the sentencing to the electric chair of two Italian immigrants who were executed in 1927 after a sevenyear trial.

For “Sacco & Vanzetti” Ennio Morricone composed one of the most intense scores of his long and successful career, starting with the mostly romantic and extremely sad theme for oboe and orchestra “Speranze di libertà”. Joan Baez’s charming voice interprets “La ballata di Sacco e Vanzetti”, divided into three parts alternating with the macabre theme of “Nel carcere” provided by electronic effects and ripping strings that would fit well in a giallo movie. The ballad motif is then reprised and played by liturgical organ and orchestra in “Sacco e il figlio”, while “La sedia elettrica” is an experimental electronic music cut. The closing song “Here’s to You”, sung by Joan Baez, has become a sort of anthem worldwide.

On the occasion of Record Store Day 2024, this legendary soundtrack is exclusively reissued on clear vinyl, with new artwork and a 30x30cm insert. Liner notes and audio remastered by Claudio Fuiano.

During the maiden voyage into an expansive vat of unreleased music by Polish composer Andrzej Korzynski, Finders Keepers Records originally presented his previously unreleased electro / orchestral / experimental score for Andrzej Zulawski's surrealist '80s horror classic Possession in 2012. These 25 cues were written and recorded exclusively for the 1981 award-winning film starring Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neil, but due to the progressive, stark and modernist nature of the finished film less than half of them made it on to the actual director's cut—leaving many of the tracks on this package totally unheard outside of Korzynski's studio. The intended Possession score in its entirety marks an important axis in Korzynski's career where his various musical disciplines overlap. He frequently gives online masterclasses and tutorials on music composition and production and has a passion for teaching the craft. He is an avid multi-instrumentalist, performing solo flute, keyboards, world instruments, and guitar on many of his scores.

The discography of the phantom Gruppo Sound exceeds over thirty titles published in an undefined time frame between the Eighties and the Nineties. However, there is very little information about this curious pseudonym. it is possible to find a library music album by Gruppo Sound inside the Canopo, Deneb, Flower, Monosound Records and Teams catalogues, all managed by Flipper Music publishing group, but both the creators and the musicians have never been the same. Gruppo Sound is only a collective name, maybe to identify a certain number of 'new' productions characterized by an electronic background And, not by chance, the author of “New York City” is a single artist, the multi-instrumentalist Gabriele Ducros. Son of the prolific composer Remigio Ducros, he first followed his footsteps in the field of music libraries and soundtracks and then become the author of many tracks for television commercials of a certain relevance, winning some international awards. “Some of these tracks may have been associated with a pornographic film. Others were, however, made as brief comments for a theatrical show, perhaps never made”, remembers Gabriele Ducros. What unites the thirteen pieces is the same musical language, which derives from a widespread funk and jazz matrix. Both genres are thus declined through a different approach and taste, in line with the fusion trends of the time, when the early synthesizers were used by few artists. A handful of electric guitar notes for a 'urban' mood, the acoustic ones from a dreamy morning awakening. Electronic keyboards to arouse a sense of nostalgia in the listener, while flute and saxophone always punctuate different atmospheres. A computer melody, a theme for children and a sophisticated ode to the fusion sound of the Big Apple, perhaps true source of ispiration of the work. “New York City” is not a concept album, but one of the best cross-sections of Gabriele Ducros' great creativity.

Beat Records and Digitmovies are pleased to release for the absolute first time on CD the complete edition of the brilliant soundtrack by Guido & Maurizio De Angelis for the sci-fi comedy “Chissà perché… capitano tutte a me” (aka Everything Happens to Me) directed in 1980 by Michele Lupo and a cast starring Bud Spencer, Cary Guffey, Ferruccio Amendola, John Bartha, Giancarlo Bastianoni, Paolo Figlia, Lorenzo Fineschi, Giovanni Gianfriglia, Robert Hundar, Clayton Landey, Amedeo Leorini, Ottaviano Dell'Acqua, and Carlo Reali. For the sequel to “Uno sceriffo extraterrestre... poco extra e molto terrestre” where Sheriff Scott Hall fights crime and alien androids to protect the extraterrestrial child H7-25 with the final victory of the good guys, Guido & Maurizio De Angelis composed a really nice soundtrack. At the time, a 45 rpm single (Polydor 2040289) was released in Germany featuring the tracks “Mr. Nothingoesright,” a vocal version, and the instrumental “Blue Space.” For this vinyl of ours, with a duration of 38:28, we used the recording session master tapes provided by Cabum. The main theme, “Mr. Nothingoesright” is the funny country tune that we hear in the version performed by the famous Douglas Meakin and reprised in instrumental versions. The legendary De Angelis brothers wrote dramatic and action music with a recurring electronic rock piece that serves as the background to Sheriff Scott's skirmishes with criminals which is also reprised in an extended version entitled “Blue Space”. The Oliver Onions songs “Six Ways” and “What I'll do” also appear in some scenes throughout the film. Mastering by Claudio Fuiano, graphic layout by Daniele De Gemini.
