Wanderwelle is the Amsterdam-based ambient duo of Phil van Dulm & Alexander Bartels, who mint their Maalstrom label with Wat Gebeurde Er Met Sergeant Massuro?, a concept album based around Harry Mulisch's 1957 story of the same name (What Happened To Seagent Massuro?). The story weaves anti-colonial concepts with mythical realist elements, and is sonically brought to life here through atmospheric electronics and prepared instruments. A moody, resonant and ultimately deep groundswell of an album, one that compels the listener to venture ever further into the a spine-tingling heart of darkness.

Fata Morgana's concept draws from Ispirian ́s live sets in the USA. Then, back in Europe, Vasco refined his performance and the live takes were finally mixed and mastered in Madrid. The project sees the light in 2023, after the global impasse the world went through, as a two EP installment: Fata Morgana I & II.

Fata Morgana ́s second installment is a 4 track EP that kicks off with a bass- driven cinematic promise (Ohdee) which unfolds in titillating layers, crafting a superb lushness and building up momentum (Flashing on Flushing) and then, fiery reaching climax in a vague, abstract electronic background (Escape into the Sunset) only to usher the shape-shifter (My Pleasure), an edgy alt-ambient closer with a grounding dialogue on pleasure and pain which is Ispirian ́s reflective statement.

Serious Beats Classics continues its successful streak and shows no signs of slowing down. We now present a sampler entirely dedicated to the greatest techno hits "Made in Belgium".

This incredible sampler features no less than 4 masterpieces of techno, from the genre's finest producers.

Let's start with the quintessential classic: "I LOVE TECHNO" by Sharpside, the anthem of the event with the same name that has since become legendary. Next, we have the timeless classic "Turbulence" by Frank Biazzi (originally released on Lupp at the time). To end on a high note, there's a double contribution from Max Walder with his tracks "Crown" and "Samba Del Costa", both heavily supported by Tiesto and Carl Cox at the time.

This sampler will undoubtedly delight techno and club music enthusiasts alike. It's worth noting that, as is our tradition, Serious Beats Classic offers tracks here that have never been reissued and have been specially remastered for the occasion, making this sampler a must-have!

Maedon – A native of notoriously grimy Baltimore who spent some seasons in filthy Philadelphia learning the craft, her arrival in New York City circa 2018 signalled a shift in development, one confirmed by the emergence of her Maedon moniker and her partnership with Brooklyn/Berlin techno powerhouse Sonic Groove and its head Adam X. Fast forward three years to Berlin, two albums, a residency at Tresor and an entire world later, Maedon forges ahead to the next phase of a rapidly building career. Assuring her future as the world falls apart, Maedon’s bracing sound and undeniable skills are a story now unfolding, with its beginnings already written in grit. 7circle – At the helm of Destroy to Rebuild, 7circle is a musical project without boundaries. Drawing from post punk and metal roots, 7circle navigates across all genres including Techno and Industrial without compromise or frills. After a long pandemic-induced hibernation, Muzi cartel returns with another vinyl only VA, this time highlighting the healthy relations between French and Belgian producers. The French mastermind Varhat kicks right in and sets the mood with “A1 - Doggo”, a versatile track suitable for all occasions. No compromises here. Moving to “A2 - Fieu” by Aldo, the brotherhood between Lowris & Adema, reinforcing the A side with a powerful acid bassline and trippy vocal chops. B stands for Boost, as we gladly welcome Nathan Boost for his long awaited Muzi debut. With “B1 - Aerozine”, he seamlessly teleports us to higher spheres, right into his realm. The B-side is completed by another Muzi debut, this time from within the cartel itself, as Töni & Roland present you their first studio collab with “B2 - The Strong Silent Type”. Geophone presents a very special various artists EP. The A side is a hypnotic monster by Voices From The Lake called "Reptilicus", a science fictional techno masterpiece. Analog Concept welcomes "unwonted" a fresh Electro project from Sweden. Behind the moniker stands two established Techno veterans, Alexander Johansson & Mattias Fridell. When they work under the group name Unwonted their sole focus is on melancholic, warm, vocal-based Electro, with inspiration taken from classic Detroit Techno, Electro & Hip Hop. "A Moment Like This" is based on the concept of walking through a desolate broken city in a dystopian retro-romantic future, reflecting on distant memories and the present.

The Passion has always been a track that resonated deep within me, a true gem by the infamous 90s duo GTO, also known as Technohead. Michael J. Blood needs little introduction to followers of these pages; his misfit take on House at its broadest definition is a lowkey phenomenon, with each turn different to the previous, but all sharing a screwed passion for the rudest variegations that dovetail Demdike Stare’s own wayward instincts.

Following up his outstanding recent Richie Culver link-up, on ‘Raven’ MJB plays with a custom-made trio of tracky blinders certain to set fire to yr floor. He boots right off with a searing title cut, starting up like a head-flapping nitrous oxide trip before locking into a 170bpm boot knocker imagining Howard Thomas’s H-Fusion via Rezzett at a free party.

Flipside, he chills his beans in a more familiar style, wrapping warped chords around a wooden bassdrum synced to roving subs and offset claps for the loosey goosey crew, before tussling with the filters on ’trgr’, a delicious section of insistent, Theo-ish loops woven with intuitive body geometry, liquifying limbs in a mode that also reminds us of Marcellus Pittman at his deadliest.

Shortly after its return to form early in the year, Anva Records catches momentum and sets off for a third release with the imprint’s head honcho, Tagir. “Movement EP” offers two original tracks that perfectly sway between deep minimal techno and subversively groovy minimal house. ‘Virgini’ (a1) starts the EP submerged in emotion. Amongst its sharp and detailed drum programming, stomping basslines, and relentless groove, layer upon layer of atmospheric pads, drums, and vocal samples gently unfold for maximum emotional impact. ‘Movement’ (a2) continues the ride started before and splashes it with 80s-style synth chords and pads, drenched in nostalgia. Underneath, a rolling arpeggiated bassline moves the groove like a locomotive, constantly reminding dancers to stomp their feet. On the flip side, Thomas Melchior remixes “Movement” (b1), re-arranging and extending it to a whopping 14 minutes, thoroughly allowing its most sentimental elements to shine through a groove so undoubtedly Melchior. A perfect for those with a keen taste for reduced sound aesthetics and deeply emotional dancefloor moments.

Sentaku’s eighth instalment introduces listeners to the mythical Japanese deities who played a pivotal role in the creation of the land in a world of nothingness, Izanagi & Izanami. Through their divine union, usebirthed the islands of Japan and laid the foundation for life to flourish. This third and final installment of the Fusion remix series sees Len Faki personally select from his most beloved producers to expand on his ambitious album project Fusion that was released as a double LP in 2023.

First up is Herbert's trippy rework of Don't Be Stupid Day, one of the album's most memorable vocal cuts. Herbert's Brain Dub transforms the track slowly and playfully, using the witty lyrics for crafting catchy hooks.

Irish powerhouse Cromby has two appearances on this EP, getting to revamp the more house-leaning productions from Fusion. His take on It's Time (to Move Your Body) is grooving grand, its bubbling acid riff and dancing hi hats teeming with life. Meanwhile, the Blackjack remix further energizes the original's shiny centerstage synths, crazily riding the pitch up and down for an all-out party.

Finally, the brotherly duo Glaskin are reshaping the ambient album highlight Gamma into a highly effective, reduced but propulsive, tunneling techno affair.

London producer Keplrr debuts on Midgar with ‘Plumes’. Known for his productions on trendsetting outlets like Control Freak Recordings and Pressure Dome where he showed his excellent take on forward thinking broken techno music, right here for Midgar he uses a more straight forward approach with two versions of title track ‘Plumes’. The original is a subtle, percussive and playful techno groover, where the ‘Meditation Mix’ flips this impeccable groove into an airy atmospheric after-house mood. Second track ‘Pulse’ continues on this breezy atmosphere, it’s a floaty eyes-closed deep trip, with carefully arranged drums creating the perfect breakdown. Keplrr’s creative process delves into the profound, seeking to encapsulate the sensation of falling or morphing, blurring the lines between reality and reverie. His aim is to transport listeners to a state somewhere between a dream and a trip, where the boundaries of perception dissolve, and the subconscious takes flight. This EP embodies that quest, each track a sonic voyage into the depths of consciousness.

Sushitech has always done a fine job of preserving and spotlighting the roots of house and techno and some of its key protagonists. This second volume of A Sillybration does that once more by bringing together some of the most sought-after tunes and vital classics from legendary UK talents Terry Francis, the late Nathan Coles, Laurant Webb, Dave Coker and Justin Bailey aka Housey Doingz. Of these 16 plenty of them have only ever been released once so are pricey if you want an original, and some have never been on wax before, at all. They have all been re-mastered directly from the original DATs and make for a vital collection of dance floor heaters that have aged like fine wine.
