A tastemaker who surged from his roots amongst Glasgow’s rich electronic scene to become a globally respected DJ and producer in his own right, Scottish favourite Jasper James’ career has been built not only on his early musical heritage but also his ability to create and curate his unique style as a standout talent within the DJ booth.

From the youngest ever DJ to play at Sub Club through to b2b appearances alongside the likes of Ryan Elliott and his longstanding residence at Phonox, his blend of off-kilter house soon led to explorations within the studio, releasing material via ESP Institute, Optimo Trax and his own Mitchell Street Records.

Welcoming another label to the mix for 2023, he joins the No Art family, following founders Anotr and label regular Toman on the vinyl focused sub-label No Art Red with his slick three-track EP, ‘Keepon’.

Title track ‘Keepon’ is a percussive-driven and impactful lead effort as crisp drums take hold, guided by subtle vocal loops and background melodies ebb and flow amongst the mix to ensure listeners are kept wanting and guessing at every twist and turn. Next, A2 ‘Rise’ builds on the opener as slinking grooves meet playful samples, icy hats, and spiralling synths to keep things moving nicely.

The B-side of the record belongs to the third and final cut ‘What You Say’, with James opting to strip things back and welcome rolling drums and shuffling organic beats for a huge summer terrace anthem in the making to close out his label debut in style.

Jack’s House welcomes new artist Mills to the label with his energetic Empad EP. Mills is an underground DJ/producer who lives full time on the island of Ibiza, a place he feels most at home when it comes to being creative. He has built up a cool following making a subliminal noise, and also launched his own successful event called Uno Mas last summer. A1. The title track Empad, already demonstrates some Spanish influences and has been test driven throughout the summer of 2022 at several clubs including the infamous Dc10 for Carl Cox invites. This deep original tech driven track with occasional sub bass wobbles thrown in, just seems to pick up the dance floor whenever it is dropped. A true winner. A2.Ohh has an underground carnival vibe to it with some reversed deeply spoken vocals accompanied by lots of fills and small military drum shots driven by it’s solid kick that drives the track in and out of a couple of breakdowns. B1. Nerds is a fast paced busy track with tight hats travelling over a bubbling baseline. The fills and noises throughout this track come with more disguised spoken vocals and are what really give this track it’s signature. Another one that drives the dance floor B2. Fari offers more underground carnival influences with a dirty snare and a deep riding baseline pattern. The limited vocal snippets that jump in from time to time and excellent drums, make this track what it is.

The first volume of San Francisco Moog: 1968-72 introduced the world to a trove of recordings from a little-known hinge point in electronic-music history. Vol. 2 brings to light the rest of tapes—and the rest of the story.

In 1968, Bay Area native Doug McKechnie got hold of one the very first modular Moog synthesizers ever made and began finding his own way to play it. Soon, he was hauling the finicky instrument around to perform improvised concerts at colleges and psychedelic ballrooms, as well as an ill-fated appearance on the bill at Altamont. Some of the performances were recorded, and the surviving tapes—never before released—capture a free-flowing, transportive sound that fills in the gap between the austere mid-century academic avant garde and the expansive cosmic suites of Tangerine Dream and the rest of the Berlin School in the ’70s.

Vol. 2 captures a wider range of sounds and moods, encompassing austere sonic experiments, early sequenced pulses, and melodic etudes.

Die Plattenläden versuchten alle AMIGA-Bestände für kleines Geld loszuwerden, um ab 01.07.1990 mit der Einführung der D-Mark ihre Regale mit Westprodukten vollzustellen. Das konnte die Band Feeling B nicht beindrucken – sie komponierten, produzieren, tourten unentwegt weiter und schon 1991 veröffentlichten sie ihr 2. Album "Wir kriegen euch alle" mit dem Klassiker von Yiri Korn "Ich such die Yvetta", den sie mit den ihnen eigenen Punk-Charm in die Zeile umtexteten "Ich such die D.D.R. und keiner weiß wo sie ist…".

By no means a release of new or current Don Cab material(and originally released in 1999), Singles Breaking Up (Vol. 1) offers quite a range of the band's history to appreciate. The oldest recordings found here are programs 1-6 which became the first two singles and a b-side for the fourth. They wererecorded in a 1/2 inch 8 track studio by Lee Hollihan of Valencia, PA (the original Good Morning Vietnam man) for only $25 an hour. The next batch, 7-9, were recorded by Steve Albini in his once home studio and were a part of the For Respect Sessions. Program 10 was also recorded in this same studio by colleague engineer Bob Weston. Program 11 was recorded in Detroit by engineer Al Sutton and was a part of the sessions for Don Caballero 2. Lastly, programs 12-13 were recorded again by Steve Albini in the B room portion of this Chicago studio Electrical Audio. The photographic art concept for the whole anthology is simply this: 7 inch phonograph singles breaking up, in the kind of setting of giving Abby Road back to the people. With the exception of programs 12-13, these songs wererecorded in the early part of the 1990's. The intention was not to release them in this form, if at all, but to give the record company a rough idea of the songs Don Cab at the time. The "punky" songs were written with the sole intention of obtaining a record contract. It seemed a the time that contracts flowed like water for this kind of music. The band soon found out that it wasn't quite that easy, but did, eventually, manage to sign a deal with Touch and Go. It is interesting to see how some of these songs, or parts of them, developed into others that have become well-known.

The Lo Yo Yo"s only album from 1985 for the first time reissued on vinyl. Featuring Mick Hobbs (The Work, Half Japanese) and Alig Fodder (Family Fodder), produced by Charles Bullen (This Heat). Limited to 500 copies worldwide.The Lo Yo Yo was founded in 1984 by Family Fodder"s John Pearce, aka Alig Fodder. They were active for two years and released one cassette, one split cassette with French band Look De Bouk and one full-length LP. The Lo Yo Yo"s line-up went through changes over its whole lifetime, but with some constants - most notably singer Joey Stack and drummer Carrie Brooks. Charles Bullen of This Heat occasionally played drums with Family Fodder and produced The Lo Yo Yo"s LP Extra Weapons in 1985. Alig says "It was impossible not to get together. In this era it was quasi compulsory to get a band together with your mates. It was normal to be left-wing, inclusive, anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-homophobic and in opposition. And to form a band, with or without experience. It started as a rhythm section: Carrie on drums and myself on bass. She brought a mate along (Joey Stack) and so did I (Mick Hobbs)."Pearce"s punchy bass playing and Carrie Brooks" hard-hitting drumming form the backbone of The Lo Yo Yo sound, with Jo"s singing and keyboard sitting firmly on top. It was made complete with Mick Hobbs on guitar and percussion, and the addition of cellist Annie Hunt.

Ireland, 2014, a group of seasoned musicians came together to form The Hacklers. Influenced by the sound of The Specials, Bad Manners, Stiff Little Fingers and Bob Marley, they quickly built a strong live reputation in Ireland and after a set on the east German This Is Ska stage, they never looked back. The Hacklers have since then played numerous festivals in the UK and on the European mainland, such as Brutus Oi Festival in Camden, Ruhrpott Ska Explosion and Ska Im Westend in Dortmund, Kippertronix in Snowdonia, Wales, Oi! For You Fest in Magdenburg, Spirit from the Street Fest and Berlin Ska City Festival.They shared the stage with bands like The Beat, The Aggrolites, Bad Manners and The Selecter, just to name a few. Wherever they played they brought passion and fire to the stage, and got crowds dancing, racking up an ever growing fan base. By now The Hacklers had developed their own distinguished sound, a mix of ska and skinhead reggae but with their own unique `extra stout' Irish flavour.Their debut album Between The Lines was released on Contra Records in October 2015. Between touring and gigging, they also joined forces with other bands to contribute to 3 of the Specialized Projects, which raises funds to improve the lives of teens and young adults with cancer or who are living in difficult circumstances. In Tamashek "Chatma" means "Sisters" and the band has dedicated the album in their own words to: "the courage of the Tuareg women, who have ensured both their children"s survival and the morals of their fathers and brothers."The opening track "Tisnant an Chatma (The suffering of my sisters)" is a heartbreaking homage: "Who can estimate the suffering felt by the soul / of one who sees her sisters exhausted from waiting/ of one who sees her sisters exhausted from waiting between countries, in deep distress /and daily oppression?"Fittingly for an album so lyrically evocative, "Chatma" also delivers Tamikrest"s most wide-screen and wide-ranging sonic statement to date.The infectious, sing-along rock stylings of "Imanin bas zihoun", the acoustic seduction of "Adounia tabarat", the Pink Floyd influenced montage "Assikal" and the lush, melancholy ambiance of the albums finale, "Timtar", all add up to a sustained audio adventure. Echoes of dub, blues, psychedelia, funk and even art-rock are seamlessly weaved by Tamikrest into their increasingly individual take on the Tuareg musical tradition.And on an album where the title translates as "Sisters", it makes perfect sense that this time around we hear the full emergence of the haunting voice of female vocalist Wonou Walet Sidati in tandem with lead vocalist Ousmane Ag Mossa. A new guitarist, Paul Salvagnac has also joined the band, bringing with him fresh textures and possibilities.

Ky is the new "solo" project of Ky Brooks, best known as vocalist/lyricist of noise trio Lungbutter and a slew of other Montréal-based out-music projects like 8-person queerpunk band Femmaggots and experimental/improv trio Nag. Power Is The Pharmacy is an album of cerebral and visceral artpunk "mainly about grief, death, the fear of loss,losing dreams, losing youth, people, public space, ultimately oneself" _ an emotionallyelectrifying collection of songs fuelled by Ky's piercing poetry, both spoken and sung,delivering an incisive blend of socio-political observation and spiritual sadness, swirlingthrough vortices of disenchantment and re-enchantment.The seeds of Power Is The Pharmacy were planted in pre-lockdown performanceswhere Big|Brave's Mat Ball played tape loops to Ky's poems, with their intent "to figureout how to make music that involved singing in a more melodic way and use parts ofmy voice I wasn't using with Lungbutter and other noise/punk projects." Then pandemichit, along with Canadian pandemic income support, allowing for Ky's acquisition of acouple of mini-synths. Songs took on all kinds of further re-shaping in the isolation ofMontréal's intense lockdown winter 2020-21. Then devastating tragedy struck (as it hadfor so many) in spring 2021 when Lungbutter drummer and dear friend Joni Sadlerdied suddenly of a brain aneurism. Following on from Soundway’s 2022 compilation, Padang Moonrise, are two late 1960s tracks from Java, Indonesia. one instrumental psychedelic organ version of Classic Indonesian track ‘Bubuj Bulan’ and the other a raw funk cut sung in Arabic. Rully Djohan recorded this unique, psychedelic instrumental version of Benny Corda’s classic ‘Bubuj Bulan’ for his album of instrumental organ versions of popular Indonesian songs recorded in 1971-72. With echoes of Indian, Ethiopian and Egyptian jazz melded with traditional Javanese music this version is a shimmering, dubbed-out take on a song that has been recorded by many Indonesian vocalists. Djohan is backed by The Galaxies Band, and led by one of Indonesia’s most original band leaders and arrangers Jopie Item, who also plays sitar and guitar alongside Djohan’s electric organ. On the flip-side, Munif Bahasuan delivers a deep funk track sung in Arabic. Munif was a Jakarta-based vocalist who sung mostly in Arabic and English. Jakarta has a small population of Arabic, ethnically Middle Eastern people who settled in Indonesia via connections with Islam and Islamic culture, the dominant religion in Java, Sumatra and many other of the main islands in the Indonesian archipelago.
