Three trademark wonky, left of centre cuts, designed to intrigue, yet destined to make you dance. It’s fair to say that there aren’t many producers who can claim to have as distinctive a style as Frits. A captivating wobbliness brews with a deft swing and tangible bounce in the Wentink barrels, instantly distinguishable from the very first sip. ‘Remember that Feeling’, the first in a fresh run of Frits x Wolf EPs, has got all those flavours and more in the mix. ‘Royale’ takes the full A side, a Fritsy bumper if we ever saw one. Skippy, seductive garage house with a psychedelic tinge. On the B, ‘Intentions’ showcases that MPC crunched sample wizardry, as smokey jazz keys swirl around RnB vocal snippets. Closing out proceedings ‘Move Steady’ is a hit of off-kilter, late night basement business, rolling low-end, UK funky flavoured percussion and all.

Real House fans rejoice! The King of Swing, Frits Wentink is back on Wolf Music. Following on from last years ‘Remember That Feeling’ the prolific Frits steps up again with ‘Club Land Special’ for the second in the Frits x Wolf series. Doing exactly what it says on the tin, four special club ready cuts guaranteed to make you move.

Two hot property New Zealanders under the guise Manuel Darquart take the Wolf reigns for their debut on the label. Drawing influence from classic Italian house labels such as Irma, Antima and Palmares (alongside having that South Pacific sea breeze ingrained in their souls), the duo let loose on a three track EP that could have easily been plucked straight out of a ‘90s Key Tronics Ensemble stash. Wolf mainstay Medlar completes the package with a percussive workout remix of ‘Parkour!’, dubbed, rerubbed and full of that timbale goodness. With a string of releases on the likes of Coastal Haze, Childsplay and Infinite Pleasure, Manuel Darquart transport you to a distant island life where corona’s claws have yet to cause chaos. Opener ‘Keep It DXy’, sees sweeping pads caress the shores as bumping basslines mix with punchy stabs and dreamy toplines. From the beach to the jungle, ‘Miranda’ is a stomp through the undergrowth, the tropical landscape calling out at every turn, as synth melodies dance around steamy bass arps and streams of percussive hits. Flip it to the B for ‘Parkour’, a proto-house gem that captures that ‘80s feel with gated snares, thumping kicks and synths galore, before Medlar closes out the EP with a ripping whirlwind of percussion for his remix of ‘Parkour’.

Cologne’s resident conjurer Hodini steps up for his second solo EP on WOLF Music Recordings. Bringing elements from his hip hop background into this unique five tracker, Hodini dusts off long forgotten cuts, sampled with that MPC chopped graininess, blending lo-fi vocal sound bites with deft jazz loops, all adding a distinct, textured edge to his work.
‘Velved Groove’ and ‘Special Shoutout’ kick things off, snapping in funk fills and skipping guitar riffs behind a concoction of hazy spirals that transfix from the off. The former is an uptempo, twisted, jazz club house jam and the latter a bubbling voyage through the afterhours, bourbons flowing and faces flying from every corner.
A master of misdirection, Hodini also moonlights as one of Germany’s leading underground hip hop producers HulkHodn, proving he can flip styles and meld genres with ease. Featuring his alter ego, ‘Doggo Content’ is his nod to this - a crackling slo-mo trip through the intoxicated mind, soundtracked by stretched vocal snippets, wading bass notes and a crunching snare.
Two of the harder-hitting club tracks close out the EP, both focused around hypnotic bassline carousels and looping layers. ‘Where’s The Wine’ interjects Rhodes flickers with bongo rhythms and unsettling laughes, as ‘One4Fries’ marries off-kilter, piano stabs alongside jazzy flourishes and fizzing percussion.

Fresh off the back of his highly acclaimed debut album on Astral Black, Footshooter returns to the WOLF Music pack following his ethereal remix of Velour last year, with an exquisite six track journey through his signature sound.

Steppin up, steppin in. Tom Esselle, one half of the minds behind the South London label and former Peckham record store, Yam Records, joins the Wolf Music fam for his first full length EP. And you best believe it doesn’t disappoint. Following VA appearances on Rhythm Section and his own imprint, he goes all out for this first solo EP outing. Shuffling bumpers, SE LDN jazz-flecked deepness, tough drum workouts and broken beat heaters, all mixed down by Chaos In The CBD main man Beans, this really does have a cut for every occasion and shows an accomplished head rests on Esselle’s shoulders. Someone who’s been part of the scene for years, slingin records and throwing parties, he knows what makes people tick and even better what makes people move. This is premium grade dancefloor business, tinged by a whole host of different influences and genres, strung together with that distinctive South London feel.

A family affair since the early days, Wolf Music have been shining a light on the scenes and sounds the duo are ingrained in. Staying true to form and rolling deep for WolfEP065, the spotlight turns to a selection of familiar faces and new recruits for a four track VA EP that’s strictly for the groovers. Wolf OG, man like Medlar kicks it off in signature style with 'Bandit', a heads-down, techno-tinged trip. Machine music with the soul of south London. Next, professor of the dark arts, Manuel Darquart, conjures up the aptly named 'Euphoria' a deep, ‘90s leaning house excursion, synth wizardry and all, that works just as well as a sunset cruiser, as it does an end of the night closer. On the flip, two long time listeners, first time callers, with a double dose of debuts on the label. Jon Sable takes the B1 with 'Infinite Care', offering up that trademark strong and Sable, In Dust We Trust flavour. Deep, emotive, intricate house with a nod to the worlds of Bruk and Chicago house melded together with that NZ feel. Closing it out, debut number two comes in the form of rising star moon who lays down a beatsy, broken earworm ‘Handmade’ featuring some dreamy bars from Tamu. Full crew, through and through – this one hits different!

King Theo has landed! You can bet 12 years ago when Wolf Music started the label, they never thought they’d be welcoming certified royalty Theo Parrish to lay down a remix on a release. And what better track for Theo to work his magic on, than the deep depths of Tone Control’s 2008 classic – ‘Illusion’.

Buttery, soulful deepness, ‘Illusion’ has it all, hitting you right in that soft spot - pure eyes closed business. Late night, early morning, peak time, take your pick. It was an instant classic when it was released, with Theo regularly drawing for it at his legendary Plastic People residency.

Now sit the man Theo down in the studio with the stems for a track he clearly loves and what do you get? A slice of Theo genius no doubt. His ‘SS Translation’ clocks in at nearly 10 minutes, building, twisting and turning in a way only Theo knows how. Restructuring and relayering the elements to squeeze every last drop of emotion out of Tone Control’s track, Theo’s delectable bass synth playing, at times haunting keys and fresh drum programming give a rawness and punch to the cut that channel that inner Theo spirit in style.

Flip it to find Tone Control’s mix of ‘Illusion’, Simon Finnegan and Marcus Harris’ biggest hit that’s still played today by the likes of Kyle Hall, Jay Daniel and Kerri Chandler. In fact, who better to talk this track up than Kerri himself, with a quote from back in the day:

“…It is one of my favorite songs. Even the way the song is put together is honestly what house is all about for me. It's got every element I love in one song, dope bass line, a different deep vocal, the sounds are hot (drums, even the way he made them swing, that Rhodes) all of it… Everyone I play it for they freak out about it.”

Retromigration returns to Wolf Music for his 2nd solo outing on the label with a trademark, warm, jazz-flecked house journey. Hot property by anyone’s standards, the Amsterdam-based producer stretches his legs across six MPC chopped and screwed heaters, from the punchy, deep deliciousness of ‘Hafenluft’ and sun-soaked vibrations of ‘Mad Fox’, to the bouncing bubbler ‘Tinger’ that features Nephews. On the flip, the Dam-Funk channeling, keytar cruise ‘Be Alright’ sits side by side with ‘Disk Yard’ and ‘Nur Wir’, two twilight cuts that showcase Retromigration's love of the beats and hip hop scenes whilst putting his own unique spin on them. Another sure-fire example of why you’re seeing Retromigration’s name popping up all over the place right now – pure class from start to finish.

Manny veteran and people’s champion, Ruf Dug, joins forces with fellow Mancunian, fresh faced talent, Lovescene for a Detroit influenced, house workout on Wolf Music. Motor City Manchester madness, ‘Make This Right’ is a sublime deep house journey that makes nods to all the right places, from the streets of Stretford to the downtown of The D. Sweeping pads, a rousing bassline and expert drum programming from Ruffy lay the foundations for the neo-soul stylings of Lovescene to hit you exactly where you want it to, through a brilliant vocal performance. Think late night, smoked out basements with chest rumbling stacks in every corner. On the B side, Ruffy offers up a dub for the dancers, 808 cowbells fizzing through the sweat dripping surrounds before closing it out with a ‘Beatapella’ in classic OG style.

The new school meets the old school. Riding those crystal-clear waves off the back of their standout EP for Wolf Music, New Zealand duo Manuel Darquart double down with this 10-inch remix package containing a classic reworking from the master of dream house, Don Carlos and a sleazed up street soul workout from themselves.

No introduction is needed when you see Don Carlos’ name in the mix. A legend of the Italian dream house movement that has influenced so much of what we’ve heard since, not least the productions of the Manuel Darquart guys. A dream (house) matchup some might say.

Step one, Carlos sprinkles his magic on ‘Keep It DXy’ switching up the drum programming and adding those Balearic flurries that add a considered dose of dreaminess to whatever he touches, think summery sweeping strings and echoing synth stabs.

On the flip the Manuel D guys go full sleaze, weak at the knees for their ‘Sleazy Sunday Mix’. Imagine a street soul, Balearic lovechild and you’re on the right track. Wolf Music welcomes Amsterdam’s Retromigration to the family with a five-track summertime sizzler, ready-made for hazy parkside sunsets and beach jaunts alike. Hotly tipped and rarely skipped, Retromigration has been lighting up the scene with a string of killer releases over the past 18 months on labels like Healthy Scratch, Ltd, W/Lbl, Glbdom and Ravanelli Disco Club. Flexin’ that signature chopped and looped style across the EP, the A side is a double dose of house joints via ‘Bloom Street’ and ‘Brining It’, the former a bumpin’ New York nodding cut, the latter an synth heavy roller.

Velour’s highly praised debut album on Wolf Music sees four of its standout tracks remixed from Wolf family old and new. Mainstays of the label Frits Wentink and Hulk Hodn join forces with new link ups, Footshooter and 20/10, for this crispy 10 inch. It’s testament to the man they call Medlar, that you never quite know what you might get with one of his releases. Wolf Music family since the early days, his latest mini-LP on the label is no exception. Seven cuts that prove this man can do anything, taking you on an otherworldly, island tour. First stop, ‘Aerial’, channelling that inner Wally Badarou for a cosmic, sand-stomping chuggathon, heavy on the juiced-up basslines, tripped out synth wizardry and space delay goodness. Your pace quickens, ‘Iguanadon’ rattles the world around you, shamanic echoes swirling through your skull as that acidic stab hypnotises you into a stupor. Out the other side, you stumble across an ‘Elephant Bingo’. Cup of tea, track three. Slap bass, bongos and synth stabs lifting the spirits. Back on the beach you drift off into a slice of sleazed up Balearic business, turning the funk dial all the way up to 11 via ‘elv’. Suddenly things take a trippier turn. Are you dreaming? ‘cr78-108’ booms in the background, pure jungle-tinged, digi dubwise movements. A few stiff drinks and you’re on your feet again. ‘Phoenix Lights’ New York house stylings pump you with life, even if your hazy brain is still hearing wild echoes all over the place. How did you end up here, 10 hours later? One too many ‘Sin Prisa’ homebrews no doubt, yet you’re still stompin through, granted it’s of the slow-mo, acid-laced variety though. What was in that welcome drink Medlar handed you at the start? Who knows, who cares when you get that kinda bang for your buck.

After a flawless debut on the label in 2018, Montreal’s Gene Tellem returns to Wolf Music with four, deep, lights-dialled-low, atmospheric voyages for those that like to get down. ‘Ain’t Got Everything’ opens - a late-night cruiser, with the kind of bass whose groove you'll get lost in and never want to end. Soulful, echoed out vocal samples add to the mesh of synths, arps and electronic rumblings that wrap you up from the off. Staying on that mesmerising tip, ‘Mind Readers’ is a slice of heads-down Detroit business. A tougher cut of skipping percussion, buzzing subs and glitched up vocal madness from deep within the mind of Tellem. Flip it over and Connecticut-based, Bu-Mako Recordings head honcho, Jenifa Mayanja works her magic on ‘Ain’t Got Everything’. Weaving in hypnotic arps and pulsating analogue textures that give way to a blissful piano breakdown, it's a grittier, heavyweight remix that still manages to maintain the ethereal tinge of the original. Buckling up and closing it out, ‘2nd Time Around’ hits with over-driven sonics and magnetising synth melodies for this certified brain dancer. The Motor City via Montreal, tied up with a quality we’ve come to expect from Gene Tellem.

WOLF Music offer up something a little different to their usual tip, enlisting the warm dusty reverberations of four-piece, jazz-not-jazz collective Velour for a 7 inch of hazy, genre traversing rhythms. Alongside being producer for the Velour project, long-standing member of the WOLF pack Mr. Fries gives his own distinctive house touch to the flip side remix.
Perfectly capturing the new school of jazz, Essen-based Velour crisscross genres drawing on elements from each yet anchoring their roots in the richness of jazz’s deft melodies and percussive touches. Head-nodding down the open road, ‘Pose’ is that undeniably soulful, first swig of summer many tracks strive to be. Morphing into a woozy affair as the sun sets midway through, Velour’s songwriting talent well outstrips their years. Throw WOLF pack member Mr. Fries into the mix, kneading in his signature production style and the freshly baked result straddles the intersection between jazz, broken beat, house and soul.
Fries then takes on remix duties for the flip, maintaining that dusty demeanour yet going for a full frontal Moodymann-esque house interpretation. The smokey jazz bar sax, background hustle and weighty beat make for a summertime heater served straight from the grill, garnished just right with Mr. Fries own vocals over the top.

New year, new you, new crew! Another rising star from France, Marina Trench, joins the WOLF Music family, following up an inaugural EP on DJ Deep's highly acclaimed Deeply Rooted with this accomplished and diverse four tracker of house goodness.
Absorbed by house music from an early age Marina Trench is already proving herself to be a humble, yet highly talented, force to be reckoned with. Waterside EP is case in point. The title track is summertime ecstasy through and through. Undeniably catchy and packed with a club-ready punch, Trench sets off at pace, revolving the track around a pinging techy bassline as layers of percussion, echoing pads and delicate vocal refrains from Marina herself glide on through. Peak time, earworm business that bangs.
Get up, ‘Get In’. Moving through the downright ethereal to some tough, dancefloor darkness. Sweeping pads and glitching arps ease you in before the breakdown leads to an unleashing of brooding bass chords and reverberating top end counterparts that marry with a mean acid bassline. Tough, tactile and firmly focused on the club.
On the flip, ‘Train Call’ is a chopped jazzy deep house roller. Heavyweight piano stabs intertwine with deft twinkles as crisp hats dance around thumping kicks before ‘Straight’ eases you off into the depths of the night. A sumptuous little slice of deepness - meditative, trance-like calls from the ocean and pensive pianos provide a perfect soundtrack for the early hours.

Powering their way through 2019 with no sign of letting up, WOLF Music unleash their next house gem, ‘Strangerinthecity’, from German pairing Kandinsky & Mr. Fries. Six slices of soulful deepness, that range from blissfully Balearic and chugging groovers, to hazy jazz-infused sweetness, crunchy beats and sweeping interludes.
Kicking off the A side a cinematic intro, laced with movie samples and thundering pianos, gives a grand opening for ‘Stranger’ to slide in with its bongo delights, dusty trumpet melodies, psych guitar licks and fluttering Rhodes. Couple that with the modulated vocal snips and it’s a wave of warmness destined to win over any dancefloor. ‘Fallingasleep’ takes the final slot on the A side, a chuggy bass-arp-fuelled interlude with rippling hats, echoing rides and washes of the sea, to lead you serenely into the second half of the record.
On the flip side, ‘Downhere’ and ‘Strollingaround’ sandwich either side of ‘Junkfoodnmusicpt2’, like the juicy pleasures its namesake depicts, encasing it lovingly in two dreamy house numbers. The former is a trumpet laden, smokey cocktail of grooves and the latter a more disco-tinged offering, led by a dynamic bass / guitar combo alongside delicate brass and string tones. The tender filling to this deep-fried delight? ‘Junkfoodnmusicpt2’ – a beatsy trip of glistening, lo-fi, instrumental hip hop that will leave you salivating for more.

There’s no better man to mark the fiftieth release on WOLF Music than South London stalwart and OG WOLF family, Medlar. Marrying techy touches and UKG stylings, with sonar bumps and Medlar's signature, sample-heavy groove, it’s a fitting way to bring in the half century.
The Peckham powerhouse throws down from the off with the rubbery, wiggling, ‘Novanta’. A garage infused lo-fi shuffle, springing samples and saturated stabs mingle with a choice vocal snippet. Looping up a Rhodes top line Medlar adds a certain swagger to this South of the river saunter.
'Pampas Drums' gets the room spinning with metallic percussive hits, twisting samples and wiggy zaps that form a cosmic swirl of echoes. Like a perpetually charging ray gun that's about to blow, the rising swells add layers of suspense to this hardy drum workout. Perfect laid over tracks or to shock dancers in it's own right.
Take to the flip for ‘Paloma’ showcasing Medlar’s fondness for a dose of UKG. Swinging hats and skipping claps blend with offbeat vocal cut-ups that give a classic underground '90s spark. Rolling subs add a weight whilst a crunched-up soulful synth offers a fresh flavoured touch to this tough jam.
Medlar rounds off the E.P in the Rye Wax basement with late night slammer, ‘Monday Boy’. Straight up, synth heavy club business, rich in analogue power and perfectly interlaced melodies, that has peak time written all over it.
Ten years in the game for WOLF Music and a landmark 50th release produced by a man who's been part of the brotherhood since the beginning.

It's a captivating encounter when a producer of relative anonymity bursts onto the scene with an exciting and engaging release, that you're drawn back to again and again, wondering how you've never heard of them before. Porto producer Pedro, & Washington DC vocalist Jenna Camille have achieved exactly that with this first release on the mighty Wolf Music Recordings.
The influences from jazz though to soul, RnB & broken beat are weaved deep within this record. You're drawn in from the off with an intro of stripped back pianos behind an emotional spoken word monologue from Jenna, before it opens up into a beatsy, RnB infused groove.
Having pulled you in 'Float' hits you with a richness of synth textures, layers of broken beats and dreamy chords alongside Jenna's "float" mantra hypnotising you deeper and deeper. Reaching the last section of the track though you're woken from that hypnotic groove with a switch to a raw and energetic breakbeat sure to get any crowd moving.
‘Keep It H 2000', the final track on the A side, has a real flavour of Fatima to it emanating from Jenna's blissful vocals - laid over the top of sustained Rhodes, weighty synth lines and dynamic drums.
Flip it over and there's a tougher intensity to 'Future Dance (It'll Be OK)', coupling rhythmic stabs with jazzy chord progressions, laced behind a groove that wouldn't be out of place lighting up the floor at a Co-Op night.
To close out the e.p. you're given a sensory overload through Jenna's staggered, overlaid vocals panned to come at you from every angle - it's the perfect outro to both stun you and leave you wanting more. And if this extremely well-polished, first key release is a sign of things to come, Pedro's name will be becoming a lot more familiar in years to come.

In a strange but true story a 3D glasses company in Silicon Valley called Real D came knocking and with the threat of legal action, his name had to be changed & Real J. was born.

With only 4 records behind him on various labels like Beat X Changers, Slime Recordings and S3A Records, French producer and DJ Fred Bwelle aka Neue Grafik has quickly rised as one of the most promising acts on the new French and European electronic scene (ask Laurent Garnier, he will confirm). Eclectic and versatile, Neue Grafik’s sound emerges from different roots: Paris (his home-town) and its music and cultural legacy, the ethnic sounds of Africa but it also goes from house, to jazz and hip-hop. Red Rack'em is a name well known to WOLF fans as he launched the first WOLF White release with his deep house classic 'In Love Again'. He is a master at reworking dusty grooves into peaking house bangers.

Justin Drake and Clive Henry, recognised as the legendary Peace Division, stood out as one of the UK's most successful tribal/tech house production duos from the late 90s to the mid-00s. Their contributions extended to renowned British labels such as NRK and Junior London, as well as releases with Hooj, Crosstown Rebels, and major label remixes.

Lesser-known but equally intriguing was their venture into a different musical realm under the alias Soul Purpose. Shifting towards a deeper shade of house, Soul Purpose featured tracks characterised by lush chords and rolling basslines, placing a strong emphasis on the soulful elements.

Originally released on Low Pressing Limited, an offshoot label of Clive Henry and Rocky (X-Press 2) iconic Low Pressing, the four Soul Purpose titles emerged between 1997 and 1998. Despite being somewhat under the radar, these tracks gained recognition among DJs in the know. Now, the Selected Works release, compiled from the original DAT tapes and fully remastered, reunites the entire Soul Purpose catalogue for the first time in 27 years since their initial release.

The karaoke connoisseur, Luigi impersonator and all round good guy, Manuel Darquart has stepped up before and he’s stepping up again, this time with The Del Sol EP. Three down to business tracks with the perfect blend of Italo, Boogie and Deep House that will have you dreaming of a sunny coastline, Guayabera flapping in the breeze and an ice cold beer in your hand.

Rounding off the package is Oakland CA native, Space Ghost who stamps his distinct style on the EP with a beautiful slice of Dream House.

The mysterious Henk Donkers conjures up the 69th release on Wolf Music. No-one knows where the promo came from, a Dropbox link landing in the Wolf HQ inbox labelled, ‘With love, Henk Donkers x’. Crack the vault to find some slick, sultry, steamed up window biz from this mystery entity, ranging from a soulful 2-step burner featuring Ell Murphy (we’re still trying to track Ell down to shed some much-needed light on this conundrum), to an acid-tinged melon twister on the A side. On the B, Henk teases further with that red-light basement feeling, blending breakbeats with heartstring hitting sweetness, before closing it out with a spoken word, psychedelic trip. Emotive sweetness from the one they call Gratts, coming correct via those ever-reliable purveyors of all things house, Wolf Music. Two dream-state gems from the Belgian-born, Australia-based DJ and producer, complete with a signature, deep and delectable remix from one of Dublin’s finest exports Glenn Davis. On the A, ‘Pretty Lights’ is a bittersweet saunter beachside, sun setting in the distance, bass striding beside as keys dance across the horizon. A melancholic narrative over a blissful groove, Brandon Markell Holmes’ heavenly vocals add an undeniable elegance to proceedings, combined with Leïto’s deft touch on the keys. Subtle house music with soul from a producer that’s been toiling away for nearly 25 years. Flip it to find ‘Polaroids’, a late-night trip across the underground with Tee Amara leading the way. Her sublime vocals are laid over a bumping, piano-laden beat, bit-crushed synths and all. A track that keeps that distinct soulful thread, yet laces it with a club-ready dose of the good stuff.
