Josh Wink’s ‘Higher State of Consciousness’ gets a respectful touch-up 25 years on courtesy of
the Adana Twins.
The German duo come strong with a pair of remixes, fit for two very different dancefloor scenarios. The
first a smart, stripped back breakbeat version that switches from a sparse percussive soundscape to the
famous acid warbles, before introducing undulating retro trance synths to the composition for a headmelting finish. Remix Two is a driving, four-to-the-floor, rave-focused affair that builds up the 303s with
exhilarating intensity, only letting up in the final moments of the track.
The fresh interpretation follows on from Adana Twins’ super re-work of Patrice Baumel’s ‘Roar’ that

Adana Twins return to Watergate Records with a magnificent three-tracker that begs for a summer

Since their label debut in 2017 with ‘Flower of Cane’, Adana Twins have become firm favourites of the
Oberbaumbrücke crew. From handling mix duties on ‘Watergate 25’ to holding down regular gigs at the
club prior to 2020, the Hamburg duo always deliver.
‘The Curve’ is their first release on WG since 2019’s cracking remixes of Josh Wink’s ‘Higher State of
Consciousness’. The title track is a big bouncy electro cut packed with plenty of groove. A super fun
production sure to bring a smile to your face. ‘Cyrus’ belongs in a motion picture and is epic in
composition. It traverses cyborg breaks before moving into a retro key-laden riff, all the while driven by a
powerful ‘Silence / Violence’ vocal. This was made for a big festival moment. ‘Alone’ is the emotional final.
At first propelled by an ‘80s synth and airy pads before a shimmering lead takes control and pushes the
track into celestial terrain.

After a two year break, Watergate Affairs comes strong with the third installment of the popular series, this time focusing on unearthing talent from outside the crew’s immediate circle. A superb quintuplet of cuts marks its return. Danish duo Baime contribute the glistening ‘Majka’ that entrances with a beguiling mix of cosmic synths and ethnic scales. Tel Aviv’s Kadosh returns to the label after featuring on the Adana Twins’ ‘Watergate 25’ compilation last year. His track is the seductive ‘Better Days’, a beautiful piano-led piece that stands apart thanks to the artist’s deft arrangement skills, having played the keys since he was 12. Sasha continues to make this year his own as he drops his debut EP on Watergate, ‘GameOvr’. The EP features two original tracks, including the long-awaited ‘Trigonometry’, and first class remixes from Cassy and La Fleur. After his recent critically acclaimed sell-out live shows at the Barbican and his ‘Out Of Time’ EP on Kompakt, not to mention gearing up for his RESISTANCE residency with John Digweed in Ibiza, Sasha officially confirms his debut release on Watergate Records. ‘Trigonometry’ has been a highlight in Sasha’s sets in recent months and has sparked many a heated debate online, from excited pleas for a Track ID, to urgent demands for a release date. The track is as ethereal as it is compelling, constantly building up to the sublime break down and those iconic chords that have left ravers spellbound worldwide. Swedish born Berlin-based La Fleur puts her stamp on the remix, keeping the riff but adding gravitas with a rhythmic bassline. Kiko & Popof link for a high-impact debut on Watergate. The talented French artists both have a discography that goes back to the ‘90s. Kiko a veteran of 500+ releases, highlighted by his 1998 cut ‘World Cup’ that was continued a minor techno classic at the time. He’s gone through many sonic incarnations since then and is currently turning heads with superb production on labels including Diynamic and Afterlife. His own label aside, his discography is stacked with cuts across eminent labels Second State, Arts, Bedrock Records, as well as being one of the first artists to debut on Carl Cox’s seminal Intec. Gorje Hewek is to debut an EP on Watergate Records, brings a handful of talented collaborative partners in toe. The skilled DJ/producer first dropped heat on the label way back in 2016 when his track 'Turgoyakk' made with fellow Russian producer Izhevski featured on Matthias Meyer’s Watergate 20 mix. Since then, he’s gone on to become an entrenched member of the All Day I Dream collective, while building up his own label Shanti Radio Moscow. His generous maiden EP offering 'Life' is as expressive as you’d expect. Fellow Dreamer Lost Desert is a collaborative partner on all but one of the EP tracks and brings his sublime touch to the work. 'Fluminnese (Dub)' features rising Moscow duo Volen Sentir and is a sundrenched slice of house that twinkles with loads of warmth and positivity also features. 'No Line Can Be Found' was crafted with Nikolai Briar and is an uplifting union of swirling arpeggios, emotional strings and a heartfelt vocal that combines for a powerful finish. Gorje Hewek follows up last year’s impressive ‘Life EP’, with a new 5-track package brimming with
collaborative spirit. The work also marks the Watergate label debut of the legendary Hernan
Cattaneo.
The artist is a mainstay of the All Day I Dream collective and a master of intricately woven electronic
compositions, which also transfix the dancefloor. For his return contribution to Watergate Records he brings
a string of cohorts in toe – Dulus, Polo & Molac from his excellent Shanti Records imprint, alongside ADID
affiliate Roy Rosenfeld and Argentinean great Cattaeno.
The opener ‘Altitude’ is a dreamy bass-driven heater that unfolds beautifully over an eight-minute period
and is highlighted by a key driven melody that’s both playful and emotive. ‘Astro World’ is an eclectic slice
of organic house that captivates with a string-laden break before dropping down into a rhythmic second
half. The EP’s title track is a silky sunset cut resplendent with twinkling pads that has enough groove to
seduce a dusty dancefloor. ‘Vida’ begins life as a slinky percussive jam, before the dam breaks and a
colourful river of melody drives the track home. A delight. ‘Kaleidoscope’ stays true to its name driven by a
lush chord melody that cascades throughout. A gem made for big moments.

Rising UK duo Mia Mendi returns for their second outing on Watergate Records with the retro-tinged Robosynapse EP. The label debut of Mia Mendi was a notable 2021 highlight for the Oberbaumbrücke imprint. What began as a challenge to fight creative stagnation, soon grew into a fully-fledged audio-visual project for Belgian DJ, producer and live artist, Biesmans. Setting himself the goal of making three tracks per week for a month, he re-scored ‘80s pop culture moments – including films, TV shows and games, resulting in a brilliant 12-track work encompassing new wave, indie, dark wave, electro and disco. Moving his modular-heavy studio to Berlin in 2014, the ensuring years saw Joris Biesmans drop heat on Correspondent, Disco Halal, Aeon, 17 Steps and Future Disco. He’s been a core member of Watergate family since his arrival in the capital, working as the club’s sound technician. He made his debut on Watergate Records in 2020 with the well-received ‘Electric Love’ EP. The ‘Planes, Trains & Automobiles’ album took shape in April last year as the lockdown was starting to take grip and Biesmans needed a positive distraction. Ensconced in the music of his childhood and ‘80s pop cultural fodder, he locked himself in his studio and set about creating, later digging through archival footage to match the music. Biesmans, who previously undertook work scoring films, was so absorbed by the process, he’d sometimes do it in reverse; allowing the vintage media be the guide. Throughout the period, the clips were shared each Monday, Wednesday and Friday on his Instagram, building up a firm following from fans, friends and colleagues. And thus, the project found its wings, developing into an album.

EP #1 commences with Catz ‘N Dogz original ‘Fire Burning When We Are’, a tune that sees them flying solo to create a stunning journey that lands somewhere sonically between Carl Craig and Henrik Schwarz where infectious drums reinforce an ensemble of dramatic harmonies tangling with euphoric melodies. ‘Afterglow’ follows suit with an attitude infused vocal from Shaun J. Wright laid over a trek into a world where ‘Old School’ vibes meet a ‘New School’ plan of attack resulting in an absolute floor filler perfect for any time. Rounding out the EP are remixes from two of the best: Prosumer and Sebo K. Prosumer steps up first to rework ‘Fire Burning When We Are’ and creates a massive tune with the signature Prosumer touch, evident in the timelessness and maturity of the reimagining. Sebo K in turn hands over a Jackin’ remake of ‘Afterglow’ by staying true to the original by keeping everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

It's always a big moment when we welcome a new project into the Watergate catalog and this time is no exception. For our next release we would like to introduce two newcomers to the label. Both Cle and Eva Be have been at the cutting edge of house music culture for well over a decade and their work as solo artists spans an esteemed list of some of the most highly regarded imprints from Sonar Kollektiv to Poker Flat, but it was only recently the two formed LoYoTo. After a stunning debut on Marco Resmann's Upon You label,we were thrilled to release their follow up on Watergate entitled ‘Lonely Young Tourist'. Over the course of three tracks the duo traverse an array of timeless aesthetics infected with a Dub narrative they have fittingly christened "Starsprangled Dubmosphere". From the twisted, low slung vibe on ‘Sheijk' to the surging intoxication of ‘3 Balls' and the timeless fusing of classic ‘Dub' and modern perspective on ‘Feel The Bumpin', LoYoTo have constructed an exquisite ride into their sonic universe and we think you will agree.
