When the Clarks Originals Wallabee hit the shops in 1964, it immediately became the favourite of those who wanted to look smart but didn't want to be mainstream and wear their fathers' outfits. The Wallabee was different: the unique silhouette playing with curved lines, paired with the incredibly stylish crepe sole and stitching reduced to the essentials were announcements you couldn't resist if you thought outside the box. The Clarks Wallabee got a further boost in the 1990s when the ringleaders of the New York hip hop scene such as Raekwon, Ghostface Killah and the whole clan as well as intellectual word acrobats like De La Soul discovered this Clarks model for themselves as a smart alternative to sporty footwear. In fact, there isn't a hip hop head under the sun who has been around since the early 90s, is in his right mind and doesn't have at least one pair of Wallabees in his wardrobe, which is not least due to the great fit of this model.
