Obey HHV Clothing

Obey founder Shepard Fairey is an omnipresent guy. You might not know him in person, but you’ve probably run across his works in the streets. He has always been known for creating iconic images and spreading his art through stickers and posters out there in the streets. And we ain’t just talkin’ about his hometown streets of Charleston, Southern California – we’re talking about metropolitan spots around the world. Inspired by graphics found in skateboarding, punk rock and hip hop, Fairey soon created his own signature style, and in 1989 the legendary André The Giant Has A Posse design was born while Fairey taught a friend how to do a stencil – that was the birth of Obey. Obey Clothing was launched in 2001 when Shepard Fairey saw clothing as an opportunity to be creative on many levels and t-shirts as another canvas for his graphics. Soon Obey offered a fine collection of vintage tees with thought-provoking Fairey artwork that could be described as a combination of punk-style street art, old school skateboarding graphics and communist propaganda. In 2003, Mister Obey founded Studio Number One to expand his activities and build a home for his commercial works including poster/cover artwork for the Johnny Cash movie Walk The Line, Led Zeppelin’s greatest hits compilation Mothership and the Muhammad Ali project by adidas. Oh yeah, and who can get Obey’s support during the Obama campain off mind?
