Field Notes Accessories

Established by Aaron Draplin and Jim Coudal in 2007, the Chicago-based US brand Field Notes pays homage to vintage pocketbooks as well as accessories. Field Notes co-founder Aaron Draplin has been collecting memo books for years and built a large archive, before he had the idea to launch a company that carries on the tradition of these signature US items. So, in late 2006, he decided to produce about 200 notebooks with a Japanese toy press – when he cut the corners of these books, the final product already looked like the books he releases nowadays. After Field Notes released their 14th seasonal limited edition, they decided it was about time to get back to their roots. Field Notes in general, and the National Crop Edition specifically, owe their existence to a tradition of promotional memo books distributed to American farmers over the last hundred years by companies that sold agricultural products.
